    I earned more than $100,000 at AdobeStock, Storyblocks, Shutterstock and other microstock agencies in 2023. In this video, I break down my data and describe what I think are big opportunities to make more money selling photos, illustrations, video footage and AI images in 2024.

    this microstock thing is a business if you don't treat it like a business you won't see the progress you have shared 14 years of experience in this field not everybody can do that congratulation, and also you showed us that you have to be patient because this business is related to creativity and not anyone can do it or gifted in this area.

      Hello, and thanks for the very wise comment. This will be my 16th year in microstock, and it does take patience. You have to be willing to watch and study what works, see what customers want and what they don't, and use your creativity to meet those needs better than others. Then you have to make your work easy to find with smart keywording. And grow your portfolio over time with consistent uploads. But I do believe that if I could do it, other people willing to go on this journey and not expecting to get rich overnight can do it as well. Best of luck to you!

      Being a graphic and 3d designer myself how much time it will take me to make my 1st 1 million$ if I follow all advice you give in your corse I see 16 years to reach 1m$ a very long period?

    • @MicrostockLife
      @MicrostockLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, there are certainly a lot of factors to consider. I have done this on the side of having a normal job, so just focusing between 30 and 90 minutes a day. I could have probably got to 1 million sooner if I did this full time. (It took me more like 12 years, as I am now at 1.5 million.)
      The bigger problem is that competition is so much greater than 15 years ago, and AI makes it easier to flood the agencies with large portfolios quickly. That might help you amass a lot of work to sell, but many others are doing the same. Most of the agencies are earning me far less than they were about five years ago. Dreamstime, 123RF and other mid-tier agencies were earning me over $1,000 a month each, but now are well under $100. Shutterstock used to earn $2 - $3K monthly for me, but now earns me closer to $500. Adobe Stock is the only one that has consistently grown. I think if I were starting today as a side hustle, doing everthing the same way, I would probably need more like 20 years to get to 1 million.
      Anyway, I hope this is helpful, and best of luck to you!

      Hi, sorry you're having trouble finding that. I know the application process starts on this page: contribute.storyblocks.com/ If you've tried this and haven't heard back, they may not be accepting new contributors at this time -- I don't know for sure. Anyway, I'm not a big fan of Storyblocks right now. They do not share much information about your downloads (far less info than most other sites I have experience with) and they made a significant change this year that slashed my earnings by about 90% overnight. It was like losing a job that supports a family. So I would caution anyone before joining there. Whatever you decide, best of luck to you!

      @@MicrostockLife Hi, Do Storyblocks accept AI Video as same in Adobe Stock or/and Shutterstock ?

    • @MicrostockLife
      @MicrostockLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Storyblocks says this: "We’re excited by advances in artificial intelligence that are speeding up creators’ workflows (including how we are using AI to improve the Storyblocks search functionality). However, we see generative AI as a legal and ethical risk for customers, and believe it poses an inherent threat to artists and the creator economy. Our new license therefore prohibits the use of any Storyblocks assets to train AI or machine learning models, or as part of projects that are created entirely by AI functionality. That said, we do still permit you to use AI-powered tools to edit and enhance your projects." Now, this seems to be aimed at their customers and not contributors. However, I don't see any explicit mention of AI in their contributor requirements, so it is unclear at this time -- at least to me -- what their policy is. But judging by the above statements, we might assume that they don't want us sending AI generated video to them.

    • @MicrostockLife
      @MicrostockLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, sorry to hear you're seeing so many rejections. Of course, I don't work for Adobe and I haven't seen your images, but what you're describing could be rejections based on images being too similar. Adobe says this: "Every file you submit needs to offer something unique. Submitting multiple copies of identical or similar content can be perceived as spamming. Our moderation team will reject similar content, and spamming can lead to your account being blocked or permanently closed." This page explains more detail: helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/reasons-for-content-rejection.html#:~:text=Every%20file%20you%20submit%20needs,being%20blocked%20or%20permanently%20closed. Do you think agencies like adobe have to stop their business as customer will generate images using AI's ?

    • @MicrostockLife
      @MicrostockLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      No, I think the people who need images want exactly what they need right now, and don't want to figure out where to go (sites like Midjourney) and how to write a great prompt (there's still skill involved in this) and experiment until they get the perfect image. Plus, even if they took all these steps, if they want the image for commercial use (and most customers do), they will have to pay Midjourney or whatever AI site they are using a fee. At least for the near future, customers will still prefer to do a quick search on an agency like Adobe and be presented with a lot of great options, and quickly download the one that's right for them, even if it costs them a few dollars. Thanks for the question, and best of luck!

    • @MicrostockLife
      @MicrostockLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for the question. Unfortunately, when it comes to agencies accepting AI, your options are pretty limited. In addition to sending AI files to Adobe, you could upload to some smaller agencies, which frankly aren't going to deliver much in terms of downloads or earnings, so for me, they aren't worth the time, based on my experience and research. These include Dreamstime, 123RF, Vecteezy, Panthermedia, Pixta, Zedge and Freepik (as you mentioned). If I had to suggest one in this group, I would say give Dreamstime a try, but it won't give you anywhere near the earnings of Adobe Stock. I hope this helps, and best of luck!

All my content is 100% generated by me (aside from my AI generated images, which is a whole different story on who truly owns copyright on AI work.) My videos uploaded to sites like Storyblocks are footage and animations of my own creation. A large number are generated with 3d rendering tools like Cheetah 3d. • @MicrostockLife
      @MicrostockLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my opinion, the majority of people who buy images at the agencies (for very little money) will still choose to pay a little to have exactly what they want instantly, rather than have to figure out how to write prompts and go through a fair amount of trail and error at an AI site to get something close to what they have in mind. People will always pay a little bit more if it saves them some time and hassle. Plus, if you want to use images for commercial use, most of the AI sites make you pay for credits or a subscription, so that takes away the savings compared to the stock agencies.
