When the Spider-Verse trilogy is complete I’d love to see several spin off movies. Spider-Man 2099 being one of them, just exploring Miguel’s world without the rest of the Spider-Verse. So much good stuff that could be utilized on screen in that cool art style.
They would be better than 99% than animated movies, but I just don't think the stories would go as hard without the multiverse element. But I agree, Sony should focus on making stuff like this instead of Kraven the Hunter, Venom, Morbius etc.
I'm not a big fan of Spider-Man, but I loved 2099. X-Men 2099 was the first comic I ever bought that blue foil was like gold to a 12 year old me. If I don't win on Wednesday I think I'll pick one up.

In '92 as a 12 year old we were too busy playing outside! but man it's good to see it getting it's flowers. Damn i bought the first couple of issues of this as a kid as well as the other 2099 books but only kept up with Doom (which was a banger and needs an omnibus as well...i think the Warren Ellis issues are the only ines that have ever been collected), but your review made me place an order for it. Just about finished with this omni. I _LOVED_ this book. I found it somehow nostalgic, even though I wasn't able to read it back in the day. Miguel has such an awesome costume in this run. I never read the newer 2099 stuff, so I dunno about any new costumes in that. Really looking forward for that vol 2, now though!

This was honestly the best of the 2099 books back in the day and the toughest and coolest version of Spider Man.

I only read the Ellis issues of that too when I bought that trade. They have an X-men 2099 Omnibus coming out so 🤞
