Even in Afrobeats where i am more affiliated with, many of the biggest songs in this genre where recorded in less than an hour like you said.. Although i have also heard of great songs that took months to make too, like bloody Samaritan by Arya star and Alright by Kendric Lamar (I may be wrong on it being Alright, but i have heard him talking about a major hit that took him months to make)
