      Thanks Matt, glad you enjoyed the video. The pile up was tough going but it was great to get all the DX stations and end up with more than 44 contacts (both CW and SSB) to complete the activation, 73

      The FX-4C is a great portable rig, it has a few quirks but overall a great radio. Thanks for the comments and feedback Matt, 73

    G'day James. another great video. Good to hear myself. Faint, but there..(only working 5 watts myself). I can see I'm going to have to work on my antenna a bit more LOL. All in all. Good one. Regards Mark VK4MFX

      Thanks Mark for the QSO, it is great to get you in the log. There was some QSB but I was able to copy you ok otherwise. A good location away from QRM and with a low noise floor also helps. That’s why I enjoy getting out and operating portable. Hope to catch you on the bands again soon, 73

      Thanks Darrin for the feedback. Great that you will try CW on your future WWFF activations. Hope to have a CW P2P contact with you soon, 73

    I just used the exact same setup (FX-4CR, ZM-2) on my last activation! Worked great. Thanks for the video

      The FX-4CR and EM-2 is a great combination. I still need more practice with the manual tuning, I can normally get the SWR down to about 1.1:1 but could only achieve 1.3:1 this time. Thanks Evan for watching and your feedback, 73

    Good morning James, I really like this setup , 10.8m radiator and 9:1 unun and AME porta paddle. It clearly shows how easy CW can be achieved on small budget in the great out doors and having fun talking around the world. Thank you for video mate and knowing your helping people who enjoy CW (Morse Code). 73 44 de Dennis vk4oc.

      Thanks Dennis, this radio setup fits in a small backpack (apart from the mast) so it is great for portable operations. When the band conditions are good 5W or 10W is enough for DX contacts. Thanks again for watching and your feedback, 73

    Thanks for these vids. I like that i can read while trying to follow the sound. Helps me learn. What does the '44' mean after the 73? Im not familiar with that

    • @vk2ter
      @vk2ter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching the video. “44” is often used in World Wide Flora and Fauna (WWFF) activations in the final sign-off, i.e. meaning “best regards WWFF”. It is generally not used in other type of portable activations such as SOTA and POTA, 73

      Glad you liked the video. The band conditions were very good so the DX stations were coming though strong. It is always great fun getting DX contacts with a low power portable station. Thanks for watching, 73
