    The 120lb kids were wrong!!!cortez was pinned like 2 times. Gilroy must make alot of "contributions" to the refs

      2 is a conservative number even. Dude was flat for a complete second 4 times that I counted, possibly more in person

      Wasn't close to being pinned, let alone being a reversal, great no call by the official. Remember a pin in hs is two seconds

      He was...but that's a TOUGH call to make in a State Finals match.
      Probably should have been called though.

    Wow, Brawley got their first state champ? Those guys moved to San Diego Section my senior year and it kinda killed the vibe for me as a guy with 2 years of competing. Could've been a CIF finalist and probably top five at Masters if they'd come a year later.
    For how good the program is, it's crazy they haven't had multiple champs, but good for them and Platt.

    120vs170 doesn’t matter who’s in control, your on your back stuck, should be a pin! Someone got robbed of a championship

      Giving the benefit of the doubt to the ref, it's like he didn't want to cost a kid a title by calling a pin in that situation, but he cost a kid a title by not rightfully calling a pin in that situation.

    Crazy cali has 1 tournament for the whole state how many tournaments do you have to go thru to qualify for states like in md it goes counties>regions(gotta place top 4) >states

      it goes cif, masters(depends one the region, a certain placement from 1st to 10th) then to state

      Depends, Southern section for example is so large it goes like this. Leagues - CIF - Masters - States, each tournament gets A LOT harder, I've seen people win Leagues and CIF and not even be close to place at Masters

    Great wrestling! Also I learned today that California has some of the worst sportsmanship I have ever seen. Sure there was that one nice champ but geez. Getting anywhere in my state championship seems hard enough so it's hard to imagine what these guys go through to get there in California

      ​@@co8539 There was that guy who kept yelling in the other wrestler's face I'm number one! I'm number one! They were also just way more showy with how they handled victory than at my state championships, not to say there weren't any clown state champs in my state, but this year it seemed prevalent in Cali as I was watching these matches.

      Cali kids are prolly the best in the country high school speaking. But I feel they peak to early because of how hard it is to win the state tournament leaving them with no motivation to wrestle or put in the work in college.

      That Frosh was ranked number one all season long, only had one loss which he avenged at Masters, and I found that when the wrestling powerhouses have an actual Frosh in their lineup, you should be scared.. Clarence placed 6th last year and was on no one’s radar this season, His opponent was the heavy favorite who goes to one of the best programs in the country (top 5 usually in USA),
