    i saw this guy with my step dad many years ago i was about 8 all i can remember is it was a anti nazi league concert and i sneaked backstage and met steve and the band in a van - man at 8 years old this guy blew me away - if anyone remembers this event please contact me ... peace

    good old steve; his heart was always in the right place; always tried to expand the consciousness of his audience.
    i have lot of respect for Maitreya and his mission, bit don't think he's the subject of this song; it's more the idea of the troubadour cascading music through the ages, bringing happiness to the people.

    In the 70s I was a die hard Canterburyscene fanatic...Steve Hillage´s "green" still belongs to my all time favourites. I hope, that his new returning band will release new music with equal quality..
    (I wasn´t friend with his System 7 ! )

    as a Hindu, whenever I heard this song I always thought of Vishnu and his incarnations, specifically Krishna.

    Yes, that is supposed to be the final incarnation of Vishnu. However, I think that rather theorize about a future deity, there is a more productive application of this viewpoint, but it is kind of long so I'll send it to you in a private message.
