He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how. Opera2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The song is in Russian. A language he also speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas. The song is very famous and popular in China. The audience already knew what to expect, but were very surprised when Dimash raised the pitch three times. Vitas but only once. The man who raises his fist in the air at the end is Dimash’s father. He came from Kazakhstan to support his son. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 20 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. So beautiful and emotional. BTW the audience is also the jury. During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰. I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. A song that Lara Fabian (a Belgian-Canadian singer) has already sung and also written the lyrics for. Dimash has always been a great admirer of Lara. But Dimash takes this song to another level. The emotions that Dimash sends out with this performance literally hit me physically every time🤯. And you can see that I’m not the only one. This is so emotional because he literally sang for survival as he was almost voted out on the last episode on Uptown Funk. That's why he had to give everything at Adagio. I love his outfit with his blue suit and white shoes. If you watch several videos of him, you will see that he often falls on his knees during many of his performances. So a Dear gave him knee pads as a gift. I don’t think he wore them on stage though. Although he has certainly gotten one or two bruises😂. What I love about the Chinese competitors is that they don’t behave like competitors. Everyone wishes everyone luck. Everyone watches the other’s performance. Clap, sing along. In my opinion, no one begrudges the success of another. They might not have taken Dimash seriously at first, but that quickly changed after SOS. (1st performance at I'm singer). - Dimash doesn't give its rights to the record industry, so he doesn't get pushed. But is now a worldwide star without the money of the music industry, but with his large fan base.
Dimash is an independent artist, he has his own creative production company "Dimashali" and most of his songs are in the crossover genre (this is a mixture of opera and pop). Dimash is famous today in almost every country around the world although not so much in the mainstream West. Whichever International airport he arrives at in the world his "Dears" greet him and shower him with flowers, you can see it all on utube. He is now able to sell out huge stadiums, just before the pandemic hit he sold out the Barclay Center in New York 20,000. People fly in from all over the world to attend his "Live" concerts many of which last for over 3hrs.

Sweet girls, I'm torn here. In a way I'm so jealous that you are starting this amazing journey. On another hand, OMG you are going to be blown away so many times. Just remember 1 thing: when you think he can't you shock anymore he does it again. EVERY single freaking time :) . My advice, keep watching his Singer show performances. Every single one if them was awesome. My least favourite may be would be Bruno Mars song (just not Dimash style song :) ). Every other "killed" me every weekend when the show was going on. It's been 6 years, and every performance still confirms he is the best of the best. If you ever have a chance to see him live, oh God, do it. Been at his concerts in London, Uk and New York and I wish I could go to all his concerts. Good afternoon, girls! The song "Opera number Two" was written by the Russian singer Vitas in 2003. As he said himself, he was depressed in those days, so he wrote this song about his feelings. The song was sung by himself, in his performance it was the tragedy of a lonely man. The organizers of the contest convinced Dimash to perform the "Opera", and Dimash said that he would perform the whole song in a completely different way and sing vocalises two tones higher than Vitas. As a result, Dimash sang the WHOLE song half a tone higher than Vitas, and in his performance this is the story of an ordinary person who found himself alone in his own newly completed house, and this is just a story about this event. And the vocalizations in the chorus, which Dimash sang with a gradual increase in tonality, are really two tones higher than Vitas sang. But then something happened that no one expected! Vitas made a far-fetched accusation that "Dimash sang a song without permission"! It was funny even to hear about it! Who and when needed any "permissions" to perform songs at competitions? But as a result, Vitas banned Dimash from singing this song, threatening to sue!

I first experience Dimash several months ago, and I have never said this about any other singer. I believe Dimash's talent and skill are far beyond current musical composition. He needs to find a composer who can rite specifically for him. Dimash could probably hold a competition for composers to help him find the one good enough to take on this Herculean musical task.

Great reaction ladies! This is one of my favorite Dimash performances. The original was performed by Russian singer Vitas and he won several awards for it. Supposedly, after hearing this, Vitas contacted Dimash and requested that he never sing the song again. Dimash has honored his request so as far as I know this is the only time Dimash sang it. I have listened to the original (it's on youtube) and it is very good. However Dimash sang it so much better.
I’m definitely a Dear. Dimash did come in second in Singer. Some say it was because he isn’t Chinese. The show that Dimash bowed out of was called World’s Best (2019). It’s an American show that only lasted for one season. He asked at the beginning if he would be required to compete against children. He got some Hollywood gibberish but no real answer. In the seminal he found out that he WAS going to have to compete against children. He said he was bowing out because in his country children are meant to be held up and inspired. After a heated exchange from the judges RuPaul, Faith Hill, and Drew Barrymore. Ru was particularly harsh with him. Dimash, ever the professional, then sang his song after all the drama and blew the roof off the stage. Great reaction!

You should watch the song 'Drunken Concubine / Diva Dance', with Li Yugang. It's a duet with a Peking Opera singer, who also has a very unique voice. It's a fascinating blend of western style music by Dimash and traditional Chinese music, and the two singers perfectly complement each other. Dimash goes there from extremely low to extremely high. An absolute must watch. Another one of my all time favorites is 'Samaltau' from the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2020. It's a more traditional song from his home country, and Dimash doesn't go into these extremes. However, it's a beautiful song and one can feel that it is very important for Dimash. Whenever I hear it, I feel homesick to a place I don't even know (that's the best way I can describe the feeling).

Actually he didn't mic drop. If you watch a different version of this episode, it actually shows that his Dad is hidden in the audience and is brought out when Dimash finishes the song. Twice on the way back to the green room he asked his dad if he'd sung okay. By the way you've got your shows mixed up, this contest ran for 13 weeks and he came 2nd overall. The show he dropped out of was an American one called The World's Best because they lied to him in order to get him to take part. Please don't think he isn't a superstar, the western music industry isn't the only one in the world. It's just the only one you see, Dimash is a megastar in China and other parts of Asia, he's recently moved to LA and is already working with the producers and composers for Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. He's in demand all over the world but like any human there's only 365 days in a year and only so much he can do especially as he's still grieving his grandfathers death. Covid slowed down his progression into the west but it's coming and the western music industry had better pull their socks up as they're now going to have to compete with him! 🤣

Every single contestant is an established, award-winning Chinese singer, while Dimash was at the time a total unknown in China, well, not after SOS, though. 🥰🥰😂😂 Overall, after the finals, he came in second, which yes, led to lots of rumors at the time. But Dimash silenced everyone by saying, in my heart, I have won already, because I gained the love and support of millions of fans. About bowing out, it wasn’t this contest. It was the CBS show called The World’s Best, which didn’t do right by him, and cut his performances into less than half when they aired. You still haven't seen anything Dimash is capable of. Almost all his songs are masterpieces, and none of them sound similar as he can use any number of different voices and tones as he's singing depending on the kind of emotion he wants to evoke in the listener. There are some songs where he didn't sing any lyrics. He just used his voice as an instrument! A gorgeous, and wonderful instrument! And for all his talent, he's what I call the anti-Diva! Just humble and kind, never pretentious. No wonder his fans adore him so much!

It’s actually pronounced with an AH sound… Dee - mah sh… & no this one’s lyrics aren’t too important, but some really are. When you watch Sinful Passion- New Wave make sure you have the subtitles on because they’re so perfect with his vocals. There are so many other amazing performances and if you follow them chronologically, you will notice that even this singer with this amount of talent, keeps getting better and better as time goes by. He placed second overall in this competition. Speculation is that because he was the only non-Chinese contestant. All the contestants are established artists in their own right and he was brought in by the producers as a wild card and he wasn’t really expected to go for more than a couple weeks. The other contest you were thinking about was the American show called World’s Best. The Dears do not like how he was treated on the show. He specifically asked if he would be competing against children and he was told no (which was a lie). He was in his way to winning until he found out that he would be competing against children. He dropped out because, in his culture, it is considered dishonorable for adults to compete against children. Ru Paul slammed him when he dropped out. He is an independent artist who sells out his concerts worldwide because Dears from all over the world fly in for his shows. Olimpico from 2019 is amazing! My favourite performance is on the composer’s channel, Igor Krutoy. Dimash IS a world superstar, he has millions of fans around the world, but he won’t sign a contract with the west, he wants control over what he sings! This was from 2017, he’s absolutely incredible today, so much better than he was in 2017, believe it or not!

His first time singing Chinese on the show is moving, "Autumn Strong," especially if you watch the Gloria Wu version that explains the background, "Sinful Passion," "Olimpico," "Stranger," and "Ave Maria." He never fails to surprise us. Even if you hear the same song in a different venue, he'll do something a bit different in his performance. It made him an overnight star, so what does the prize really matter? The pandemic set him back in his career quite a bit, and being from Kazakhstan means that most of the Western world is slow to hear about him.

As previously stated, he came in second on the Singer in 2017 show because the rules wouldn't allow him to win because he wasn't Chinese. They changed the rules after that and in 2018 Jessie J competed and won. The show he walked away from was the United States show The World's Best because he found out they lied when he asked if he would be competing against children and they said NO. When they messed up and allowed him to see the 2 children that were still in their category, one of which was a girl he knew from his own Country, that is when he left and the Network cancelled the show after that 1 season. I've seen snippets from that show and I was really TURNED off. That horrible blood-red stage set, with the judges sitting in little balconies, was clearly meant to look like the Galactic Senate from the Star Wars prequels. And one of the judges had the GALL to say "Four words: A. Star. Is. Born." 😒As if Dimash hadn't already been selling out stadiums in Asia.

Dimash is a superstar. Just because he isn't in hollywood it doesn't mean he isnt. Him, Ren, Angelina Jordan, Chinchilla, Sam Tompkins, Diana Akundova are the new breed of singers who do everything and go about their ways without having to need anyone besides them. Dimash's inspiration and an idol is the french/canadian singer Lara Fabian you should check her out as well. She is from the generation back and is a monster singer who didn't get much recognition kind of like all the people i described above. But the world is seeing them and no one can stop them now. You should also check Ren's band "The Big Push" and dive deep in to Dimash and the rest of the names i wrote above, those are rabbit wholes you do not wan't to miss. I won't mention Floor(Nightwish) as i already see you have seen some of them but oh god they are a thing of their own.
The diva dance is from the movie "the fifth element" There's a young girl (think she's Russian or Ukrainian) on their version of the voice that sings it live, that's incredible!
You've still only seen a fraction. Dimash mixes techniques, so he can do low, heavy metal growls and whistle tone so high it's off the piano. He'll mix ethnic music, pop, metal and opera into one song. At the end of "Sinful Passion", he doesn't even seem to need to breathe. In "Stranger", you get to hear some of his lower range. In his short film/long video "The Story of One Sky", he throws in everything - growls, ethnic, male opera, female opera, distortion, pop and a kitchen sink and it's all him.

He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how.
Opera2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The song is in Russian. A language he also speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas.
The song is very famous and popular in China. The audience already knew what to expect, but were very surprised when Dimash raised the pitch three times. Vitas but only once.
The man who raises his fist in the air at the end is Dimash’s father. He came from Kazakhstan to support his son. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed.
I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 20 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. So beautiful and emotional.
BTW the audience is also the jury.
During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰.
I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. I think what's happening today in the world worries him a lot.

Adagio was the 6th performance of The Singer competition in China in 2017. A really beautiful song❤️. A song that Lara Fabian (a Belgian-Canadian singer) has already sung and also written the lyrics for. Dimash has always been a great admirer of Lara. But Dimash takes this song to another level. The emotions that Dimash sends out with this performance literally hit me physically every time🤯. And you can see that I’m not the only one.
This is so emotional because he literally sang for survival as he was almost voted out on the last episode on Uptown Funk. That's why he had to give everything at Adagio.
I love his outfit with his blue suit and white shoes. If you watch several videos of him, you will see that he often falls on his knees during many of his performances. So a Dear gave him knee pads as a gift. I don’t think he wore them on stage though. Although he has certainly gotten one or two bruises😂.
What I love about the Chinese competitors is that they don’t behave like competitors. Everyone wishes everyone luck. Everyone watches the other’s performance. Clap, sing along. In my opinion, no one begrudges the success of another. They might not have taken Dimash seriously at first, but that quickly changed after SOS. Through ist honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today.

(1st performance at I'm singer). - Dimash doesn't give its rights to the record industry, so he doesn't get pushed. Whichever International airport he arrives at in the world his "Dears" greet him and shower him with flowers, you can see it all on utube. He is now able to sell out huge stadiums, just before the pandemic hit he sold out the Barclay Center in New York 20,000. People fly in from all over the world to attend his "Live" concerts many of which last for over 3hrs.

Sweet girls, I'm torn here. In a way I'm so jealous that you are starting this amazing journey. On another hand, OMG you are going to be blown away so many times. Just remember 1 thing: when you think he can't you shock anymore he does it again. EVERY single freaking time :) . My advice, keep watching his Singer show performances. Every single one if them was awesome. My least favourite may be would be Bruno Mars song (just not Dimash style song :) ). Every other "killed" me every weekend when the show was going on. The song "Opera number Two" was written by the Russian singer Vitas in 2003. As he said himself, he was depressed in those days, so he wrote this song about his feelings. The song was sung by himself, in his performance it was the tragedy of a lonely man. The organizers of the contest convinced Dimash to perform the "Opera", and Dimash said that he would perform the whole song in a completely different way and sing vocalises two tones higher than Vitas.
As a result, Dimash sang the WHOLE song half a tone higher than Vitas, and in his performance this is the story of an ordinary person who found himself alone in his own newly completed house, and this is just a story about this event. And the vocalizations in the chorus, which Dimash sang with a gradual increase in tonality, are really two tones higher than Vitas sang.
But then something happened that no one expected! Vitas made a far-fetched accusation that "Dimash sang a song without permission"! It was funny even to hear about it! Who and when needed any "permissions" to perform songs at competitions? But as a result, Vitas banned Dimash from singing this song, threatening to sue!
Told ya! At the end it's like "oh no he isn't" and he grins and goes "oh yes I am!".

I first experience Dimash several months ago, and I have never said this about any other singer. I believe Dimash's talent and skill are far beyond current musical composition. He needs to find a composer who can rite specifically for him. Dimash could probably hold a competition for composers to help him find the one good enough to take on this Herculean musical task.
He worked with genius like Igor Krutoy and all of his songs are amazing 🎉 lol.

Great reaction ladies! This is one of my favorite Dimash performances. The original was performed by Russian singer Vitas and he won several awards for it. I’m definitely a Dear. Dimash did come in second in Singer. Some say it was because he isn’t Chinese.
The show that Dimash bowed out of was called World’s Best (2019). It’s an American show that only lasted for one season. He asked at the beginning if he would be required to compete against children. He got some Hollywood gibberish but no real answer. In the seminal he found out that he WAS going to have to compete against children. He said he was bowing out because in his country children are meant to be held up and inspired. After a heated exchange from the judges RuPaul, Faith Hill, and Drew Barrymore. Ru was particularly harsh with him. Dimash, ever the professional, then sang his song after all the drama and blew the roof off the stage.

You should watch the song 'Drunken Concubine / Diva Dance', with Li Yugang. It's a duet with a Peking Opera singer, who also has a very unique voice. It's a fascinating blend of western style music by Dimash and traditional Chinese music, and the two singers perfectly complement each other. Dimash goes there from extremely low to extremely high. An absolute must watch.
Another one of my all time favorites is 'Samaltau' from the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2020. It's a more traditional song from his home country, and Dimash doesn't go into these extremes. However, it's a beautiful song and one can feel that it is very important for Dimash. Whenever I hear it, I feel homesick to a place I don't even know (that's the best way I can describe the feeling).

By the way you've got your shows mixed up, this contest ran for 13 weeks and he came 2nd overall. The show he dropped out of was an American one called The World's Best because they lied to him in order to get him to take part.
Please don't think he isn't a superstar, the western music industry isn't the only one in the world. It's just the only one you see, Dimash is a megastar in China and other parts of Asia, he's recently moved to LA and is already working with the producers and composers for Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. He's in demand all over the world but like any human there's only 365 days in a year and only so much he can do especially as he's still grieving his grandfathers death.
Covid slowed down his progression into the west but it's coming and the western music industry had better pull their socks up as they're now going to have to compete with him! 🤣

The scores are tallied every two weeks, and the lowest two contestants are eliminated. Mind you. Every single contestant is an established, award-winning Chinese singer, while Dimash was at the time a total unknown in China, well, not after SOS, though. 🥰🥰😂😂 Overall, after the finals, he came in second, which yes, led to lots of rumors at the time. But Dimash silenced everyone by saying, in my heart, I have won already, because I gained the love and support of millions of fans.
About bowing out, it wasn’t this contest. It was the CBS show called The World’s Best, which didn’t do right by him, and cut his performances into less than half when they aired.

You still haven't seen anything Dimash is capable of. Almost all his songs are masterpieces, and none of them sound similar as he can use any number of different voices and tones as he's singing depending on the kind of emotion he wants to evoke in the listener. There are some songs where he didn't sing any lyrics. He just used his voice as an instrument! A gorgeous, and wonderful instrument! And for all his talent, he's what I call the anti-Diva! Just humble and kind, never pretentious. No wonder his fans adore him so much!

It’s actually pronounced with an AH sound… Dee - mah sh… & no this one’s lyrics aren’t too important, but some really are. When you watch Sinful Passion- New Wave make sure you have the subtitles on because they’re so perfect with his vocals. In this song it’s something about a man alone in a house with the wind blowing or something like that- so his voice is like a big blowing wind 😊

He placed second overall in this competition. Speculation is that because he was the only non-Chinese contestant. All the contestants are established artists in their own right and he was brought in by the producers as a wild card and he wasn’t really expected to go for more than a couple weeks. The other contest you were thinking about was the American show called World’s Best. The Dears do not like how he was treated on the show. He specifically asked if he would be competing against children and he was told no (which was a lie). He was in his way to winning until he found out that he would be competing against children. He dropped out because, in his culture, it is considered dishonorable for adults to compete against children. Ru Paul slammed him when he dropped out. He is an independent artist who sells out his concerts worldwide because Dears from all over the world fly in for his shows. Olimpico from 2019 is amazing! My favourite performance is on the composer’s channel, Igor Krutoy. Dimash IS a world superstar, he has millions of fans around the world, but he won’t sign a contract with the west, he wants control over what he sings! He is very humble, and generous in his charity giving.
As previously stated, he came in second on the Singer in 2017 show because the rules wouldn't allow him to win because he wasn't Chinese. They changed the rules after that and in 2018 Jessie J competed and won. The show he walked away from was the United States show The World's Best because he found out they lied when he asked if he would be competing against children and they said NO. When they messed up and allowed him to see the 2 children that were still in their category, one of which was a girl he knew from his own Country, that is when he left and the Network cancelled the show after that 1 season. I've seen snippets from that show and I was really TURNED off. That horrible blood-red stage set, with the judges sitting in little balconies, was clearly meant to look like the Galactic Senate from the Star Wars prequels. And one of the judges had the GALL to say "Four words: A. Star. Is. Born." 😒As if Dimash hadn't already been selling out stadiums in Asia.

Dimash is a superstar. Just because he isn't in hollywood it doesn't mean he isnt. Him, Ren, Angelina Jordan, Chinchilla, Sam Tompkins, Diana Akundova are the new breed of singers who do everything and go about their ways without having to need anyone besides them. Dimash's inspiration and an idol is the french/canadian singer Lara Fabian you should check her out as well. She is from the generation back and is a monster singer who didn't get much recognition kind of like all the people i described above. But the world is seeing them and no one can stop them now.
You should also check Ren's band "The Big Push" and dive deep in to Dimash and the rest of the names i wrote above, those are rabbit wholes you do not wan't to miss.
I won't mention Floor(Nightwish) as i already see you have seen some of them but oh god they are a thing of their own.

You've still only seen a fraction. Dimash mixes techniques, so he can do low, heavy metal growls and whistle tone so high it's off the piano. He'll mix ethnic music, pop, metal and opera into one song. At the end of "Sinful Passion", he doesn't even seem to need to breathe. In "Stranger", you get to hear some of his lower range. In his short film/long video "The Story of One Sky", he throws in everything - growls, ethnic, male opera, female opera, distortion, pop and a kitchen sink and it's all him.
