The techs at waveform were very helpful and mentioned a band 4 or 66 would be better for internet then the band 2 I was shooting for. News to me! Since the Cellular radio in the router is capable of supporting full 4x4 MIMO (multiple in multiple out) ☆up to☆ a maximum thruput of ... 1.7 Gbit/s (Gigabits per second) which is the same as 1,700 Mbit/s (Megabits per second) Versus, A 2x2 antenna array which is only physically capable of a maximum thruput of 867 Mbit/s (megabits per second) or exactly half. 1. A 2. B 3. C 4. D 1 talks to A,B,C,D 2 talks to A,B,C,D 3 talks to A,B,C,D 4 talks to A,B,C,D And vice versa simultaneously in both directions or full duplex communication. For a total of 16 simultaneous two-way conversations known as "Streams" Versus 1. A,B 2. A, B For a total of 4 simultaneous two-way conversations or "Streams". (The difference here though is each channel is twice as wide in bandwidth and carries 2x the data) Bottom line is a tremendous amount of bang for the buck for an extra one time cost of $160. As for selecting the Log Periodic vers Panel Antenna, it depends on many many factors but the number one consideration is how far you are from the most desirable cell tower and thus your available signal strength. Andrew is working on a video to compare the two head to head, in HIS location, however NO two locations are the same due to dozens of variables. GENERALLY speaking, more mass equals more signal strength gain. For reference ... . For clarity regarding the High Gain Antennas. They are known as ... LPDA (Log Periodic Directional Arrays) Or YAGI Directional Antenna Array. For > 4G-LTE. > 5G-mm Wavelength. > Wi-Fi - Tx / Rx. > 9 to 11 dBi of signal gain. They are Passive Non-Amplified devices as they are not externally powered. As opposed too the also passive flat panel designs known as Fractal Antenna Arrays also available in both 2x2 and 4x4 MIMO (multiple in multiple out) configurations, generally with less signal gain however with potentially higher signal interference rejection capability. This has probably been the most informative video on an issue that has plagued me for 2/3rds of my life. So I live in southeast texas and have awesome internet through cable. We have hurricanes though so I’m not only going to be installing a generac but also installing the antena + router/hotspot combo so I don’t lose power nor internet during the hurricanes. God speed.
I've installed cable in cellular towers in the one's I've been in. The tower is owned by by a company and all kinds of services providers will lease space in the tower. I've seen all service providers in the same tower and one's most never heard of.
I have fibre internet in the UK. My download is 262mbs, but my upload is only 24mbs. I'm very impressed with the upload speeds you get with that system.

I am on my first Cudy 4G LTE LT500D ($60 on sale basic) sim modem testing it out while researching options, and getting 20 Mbps before external antenna test, from a T-Mobil tower about 2 miles away. Could be my primary or back up Internet. Thanks for your style of sharing Lesson from DIY ... Hands On ... Learning about how the upper end Cudy and other sim routers can handle more than just on cell band, and looking at the Cudy LT18 now that can handle up to 5 bands at same time (via cell aggregation) . Man I appreciate this video. Even though had to figure everything out before I found it! Lol some people don't realize how much time, effort, testing, sacrificing the greatest signal you've achieved so far; to test a new spot, the patience, and the frustration when figuring this process out. Went from 1 bar of service to 3, took me months. I can't set up the outside antenna, company rules. Finally went from 5m Down, 1m Up.. to 45-77 Down, 12-16 Up. Wish I could get more. Lol appreciate this video man, keep it up! I've been playing Call of Duty on 1 bar coverage for a year, finally I can play in 4K and stream at the same time. You guys gotta listen to this guy, he knows what's up! P.S. 5G is trash if you're not in the bigger cities. So what he said about 4G LTE, is true. Way better. If you use an Android, there use to be a setting available for you to change your preferred "band" to 4G LTE so it won't even think about searching for 5G! They removed it a few updates ago. The fix was to download "Samsung Band Selection" App in the Play Store. You could change it there. Then they patched it to where you couldn't even do that anymore. But for almost a year now, you can still use it. They didn't patch it all the way. Just hit "More Network Settings" instead of "Launch Band Selection" Hope this helps!
Hey man I live at my business and when I try to get cable internet everyone charges me business prices. And satellite is garbage. I also play call of duty and stream. Would you recommend me doing what this guy did in the video and buy one of these expensive routers?
I ordered the router with t-mobile last week and could not get get it to work. Yesterday they called me to assist but unfortunately we could not get it to pull in any signal. They are sending me a new router with an AT&T card, and I will return the other. I was happy to hear back from them and the guy really tried to help which was nice! I am hoping AT&T will work 🤞

Not sure if you heard of AT&T Wireless Internet. It's not cellular but does come off a cell tower. $100 installation and no equipment costs. It comes with a Antenna that is somewhat line of site but can get best signal from 5ft of the ground. It's new and apparently AT&T are starting to roll this out in rural areas.
Nice video. I’m in a rural area and I have found the lower 600Mhz 5G bands like with T-Mobile has further reach then LTE and higher bandwidth spectrum and faster speed. It penetrates trees and structures better, after all it was the old Nextel frequency that worked everywhere. I would say take advantage of the free few months of service you can get and test what’s best in your area.
Yeah, same boat, same part of the world, Lindale Tx and we had to use NextWave so right at 100 for max 15 mbps. Recently after I set up a noIP dns domain I noticed we got speeds over 100Mbps and it was like that for almost 2 months I’d say and I thought about asking how or why but didn’t want to alert them to it lol. It finally went back to slow recently. Makes me wonder if it was something I did?
I'm in South Texas and have been feeling the same impacts through Starlink. Eating the startup costs and setup work, is a bit hard bc my time with them will be just under a year of use. Definitely think it's worth trying the change though.
@@nm3547 south Texas has weak signal strength due to the antennas and bad heat .... antennas are always going down if you live in Mexico or Edinburg Texas.
East texas thought starlink was the ticket unfortunately they upped price $120 and slower speeds so we sold our starlink and right now using hotspots ugh
What's your download & upload speeds on Starlink, my 5G Home internet Gateway get is getting up to 427 mbps Download & 60 Mbps Upload and is not subject to Solar Flares or Space storms like Starlink outages had back in February when a space storm knocked out 40 spaceX satellites, cost millions, months to replace, whereas cell sites back are back up within hours if outage. Of course if you are more than 10 miles away from 4G/5G towers or on a remote Island then Starlink.
Great thought out and researched video. Well after watching your review and in the same boat as you guys. We ordered our system for TMobile. We have two hot spots which cost us $100 a month and then they max out at 100gbs each. We are looking for something that can stream our Ring cameras also. We have excellent 4g service for the most part on our phones and hot spots. If this system works it will save us about $60 a month, then we can still use it when camping.
I've been averaging around 80mbps here lately, for some reason the upload got better. That's a blessing for me with as much video uploading that I do and streaming for my social media accounts.

This is what I needed to see and hear! My wife and and way out in the sticks. Although Verizon and T-Mobile both have about the same signal strength regarding reception, Verizon’s jet packs are fair at best and T-Mobiles cellular router is a joke. I think this is the direction we’re going to have to go to improve Internet service.
Yeah I’m using the net buddy with a cheaper cuddy router I have not had any problems yet using the T-Mobile card on it that they gave me I am in my first month of service though Hopefully I can get by with this so far so good I have not noticed any throttling or anything else I will try to keep you guys Informed there’s any changes I might add that I live out in the sticks and lots of trees all around

I use a service from TravlFi same type router they supply as yours has multi sims in my RV … don’t get those speeds but across the country I’ve had good speeds
Andrew I was able to buy the cudy lt-500 about 6-7 months ago for $99.00 and got locked in price for life of $39.99 a month rpght before they ran out stock ! I'm happy the version i got does have 4g & 5g and netbuddy is very good I wanted set mine up for running offgrid the power adapter changes it to 12v so i run it at home on 110v ir powers out i swap the plug to the one i made to run it on 12v or use in rv or van while traveling & im on the T Mobile network but could use att or version as i choose !
Excellent video! I have the T-Mobile KVD21 home internet router I'm using out in the countryside. I first looked into it when we were considering buying a lot and having a home put on it, but there were no cable or fiber, the only source of internet was cellular. T-Mobile said it wasn't available yet, but the Salesman at the store said to try it. I have a clear line of site, which is about 3 miles away, but I'm getting 313.78 down and 41.96 up. I was considering whether I needed an external antenna, but as long as I can get this with the unit in my office, I don't see a need. Thanks for the great videos!!
keep an open eye for Starlink, I have installed their equipment before in places that "had no coverage" and believe it or not I have gotten some of the best speed test results, in a few more months the 2nd gen satellites will quadruple the speed as well.
I'm good, I get amazing upload speeds which is extremely important for me. My download is plenty fast enough to stream multiple tvs and devices at the same time too. Not to mention all that for $39.99 a month.

So I have question about your set up? The initial set up was to boost your cell phone service or internet with the Hi boost device? Then next video you installed two directional antennas for your new router that can accept a data plan card/chip? And now this video is about adding a more powerful router and two additional antennas to improve signal strength and better download and upload speeds? I just want to make sure that i got that right. I'm in the process of investing some of the same products to improve my internet as well. Your videos have really help me.....
That's correct, the Hiboost has nothing to do with my internet, it's for cell signal only. I am simply showing there are different types of cellular routers and antenna options depending on how much you want to spend and how fast of internet you are looking for.
For redundancy and avoiding tower crowding... You may want to consider pointing two antennas at one tower.... Point the other two antennas at the next closest tower. Once that is in place... If tower 1 is down due to storm, power, service... You still have backup without having to repoint antenna. Just a thought. As far as crowding... I don't know if your router will attempt to auto switch towers based on speeds or singal strength alone.
I have the Verizon home internet white square box and I use it in the BLM lands in southern Nevada and California. I get anywhere from 30 to 60 and all the way up to 300 speed depending where I’m at and I don’t use any external antenna but I’m always looking around for better ways to get Internet. Put it on $50 a month.m unlimited They say it’s not mobile but it is I plug it into my Prius and I’ve used it from Northern California always to Vegas no problems but I would just like faster speeds when I’m out in the desert Boondocking 30s are ok for basic stuff
33:20 I was psyched when they built a cell tower about five miles from my ranch, several years ago. It's just never been turned on. Total cell-coverage dead zone, with a brand-new tower in the middle of it. Why go through the money and effort to build a tower and not turn it on? Because the rural subsidy that applied was for building the tower. Not providing service, from said tower! If they turned it on, they'd lose all that money they were paid to build it. I have loved my starlink, but the recent reduction that I've noticed in my download speeds is concerning. The upload speeds have never been anywhere near what I expected(average of 8mbps up since install this last February). So...I'm looking at alternatives. Thanks for the video!
The lowest MHz will give the greatest distance but the speed will be slower. T-Mobile band 71 (600 MHz) 12 (700), 5 (850), 2 (1900), 41 (2500), 66 (1700/2100). You may be able to lock to a band if you see congestion.
So Andrew I have a question.. The first step in their instructions is Step 1 - Choose a plan - [ AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon (SIM card) ] So, who is signing up for their service? If you pick tmobile do you have to call them and open up an account? They just send you a pre-activated sim? You pop it in and go? How does tmobile know who the sim is registered to?
It's all handled through them, your Sim arrives with the router. You pay them the monthly fee. It's a very easy process, you don't have to deal with the carriers.
@@TKCL Hmmm..just seems kinda sketchy. I know they have had a lot of bad reviews on reddit on how they were just reselling prepaid att and other plans. Give an update when you can on how you feel about it bud.
Its a revolving reloading limited to one month "Pre-Paid" "Data Only SIM" subscription plan, think Netflix. Designed primarily for M2M (machine to machine) Industrial communication. Identity is solely required for billing in a Post Paid contractual arrangement. The reseller simply purchases capacity in Mass bulk from the three carriers and Wholesales it out to maintain the massive quantity discount while pocketing the difference. The business model is known as a MVNO (mobile virtual Network operator) much the same as all of the small cellular companies you see advertised everywhere. Living in rural BC , this type of set-up interests me. My one concern is how will it work in the winter. You are based in a warmer climate zone. We get well over 5ft or snow a season. We are also in a area that gets no cell service .
Since your cellular router has four removable wifi output antennas, remove one 5ghz and one 2.4ghz and see if you can purchase outside wifi antennnas to extend your outdoor wifi range.
Not sure, typically you can only use a Verizon direct Sim for their equipment only. This is why you usually buy a 3rd party router and Sim combo that's already setup. Who did you buy your router from?
@@TKCL Its going through tmobile at the moment. i have it hooked up to a bolton long range antenna and im just happy to get 20 mbps down honestly. looks like net buddy is sold out of alot of there cheaper priced routers at the moment
From my experience testing, the Suncomm 5g router is worth the money. Better hardware and speeds as a result. Paired with their $45 a month T mobile plan its hard to beat.
another question is Im looking to install internet service in my RV how would the products work in that environment using external antenna and the mapping program you mentioned
You would have to set the external antenna up each time. But the router itself with the included antennas can be used table top and it is allowed to roam and travel. I'd try the router as is with no external antenna for traveling.

What is the tower distance from the house that concerns you. I looked at t mobile and they they do not offer it in my area is that because using the equipment they provide. I just purchased a home and was given wrong info about typenof internet. I am looking at satellite but working from is going to be a nightmare might just have to travel into the office. If I get tye hubbuddy and the antenna and let's say tower is less then 10 miles away do u feel it will work. I have verizon and at times get 3 bars at my house on 4g. Great video.
Tower distance is important, but not nearly as much as tower coverage. Use cellmapper.net to search all major providers in your area. Use the map to see the dots (towers) around your home and click on them. You will then see the shaded area and direction they cover. Almost all towers are directional and only cover a certain area.
If you really want outside Wi-Fi. They also make make outdoor Wi-Fi antennas the can be put on some routers if the Wi-Fi antenna on the router is removable as well.
@@TKCL I did forget one thing if using one of the Wi-Fi extenders a little not it cuts your Wi-Fi speed in half when going threw one. Just thought I’d point that out.
I have AT&T service with Net Buddy for about 4 months and in the first two it worked fine I was getting about 40 megs down. but then I've notice the speed starting dropping to abut 3 megs. fortunately, the sped comes back when I reboot the router, but I have to do this every day. I tried to contact Net Buddy but they never returned my emails. there is no costumer service, you are on your own.
That's actually quite normal for cellular. Reboot puts you back at the top of the towers priority list. I use a timed outlet device that reboots my router for me while I'm asleep.

I never mentioned that, I'm not sure if it has it or not. Netbuddy is running a new Suncomm router, check the specs on the new model, it might offer this feature.
Hello Andrew, I have the 5G CPE Smart WiFi System and a MOFI-5500. But the 5G CPE Smart WiFi System with T-Mobile runs circles around the MOFI. I am about 3 miles from the tower and use 4 outdoor antennas. Mr typical speeds are 400-500 Mbps and 45-50 Mbps Up. I can't even come close to that with the MOFI. I wish I hadn't at all. a complete POS.
@@TKCL In my router I have the Quectel CAT19-RM520N-GL. I also have the external antennas that you have there but there are 4 of them. One thing to remember though,Keep you cables as short as you can and need. AT these frequencies the cable has a lot of loss. Do not use the cable that has 4 in a wrapper. Because they has a heck of a lot of loss. I bought 4 of the 30 ft LMR-400 cables with N type connectors. By signal increased by 2 db and Signal to Noise also got better. 2db don't sound like a lot but when you are at the edge of the signal it makes a big difference. In the smaller cable I was losing more than 1/2 of the useable signal and had a tough time getting on 5G. My 4G LTE was only about 120-40 Mbps and 10-12 Mbps up. I kind of wish I had gotten 15ft of the LMR-400 instead of the 35ft. That router looks like the same as I have on the outside. The Quectel RM520N-GL: this 5G NR modem can aggregate 5G bands such as N71 with N41, because of this if you have T-Mobile this is the one to go with. This will also aggregate N5 with N77 on Verizon. On AT&T towers expect a nice performance bump when compared to other NR5G capable modules on the market, capable of aggregating bands with N5. My Router is this one. My quad Waveform antennas and Net Buddy / AT&T system was installed today. My results were 100-120 mbps down and about 10 mbps upload. The upload seems very low to me, any idea what can be causing that? Bottom line is I am very pleased overall, would be ecstatic if I can get the upload increased. Used the tape and timer recommended for the full install enchilada. Thank you for making me aware of this setup, very much appreciated.
Wow that's awesome speeds. Upload could be your tower, but please understand your upload is actually quite good. Even compared to DSL and SOME Starlink speeds I am aware of your still way ahead. Glad it worked so well for you.

Also if I may add, Regarding your upload speed try swapping your connections, as the left and right tilting corresponds to receive and transmit and the orientation results do vary. so try swapping ... 1- 2 2- 1 + 3- 4 4- 3 One pair at a time. Testing each time. Taking note of the latency times. Very importantly Make Certain that antenna numbers, 1 and 4 & 2 and 3 Are Both tilted in the same direction! ☆☆☆ Always power down when making connections to both avoid electrical damage and also required to adjust too the changes in the polarization. Also use Googles speed test for consistency to reduce some of the many variables both using WiFi AND hardwired ethernet to reduce the variables even further. Lastly as Andrew has demonstrated small directional changes can have a large effect on performance so dial it in as much as possible. Hope that helps

I always reset, I have a timed outlet to do so. Cell towers have priority lists based on time of connection and how long you have been connected. Anytime you reset your moved back to the top of the priority list. I did have a small spell about two weeks ago of lost connection at random times. Not a single issue since.
Ok, I have a question. I hope it's not a dumb question. lol. I purchased the NetBuddy 5G Router with a T-Mobile Sim Card. It's working great, after figuring out the antenna issue, but I want to add a MESH system. Can you add a Mesh system to a Cellular Wifi Router? I'm new at this, but if I add a MESH system that then becomes my Wifi Router, let's say Orbi, won't my NetBuddy 5G Router not work, hence my Sim Card not work? So just got ours yesterday and have been playing with our TMobile version today. So if I just do a speed test and nothing is running in the background on the internet the numbers seem lower. 40-50mbps download with 2-4 mbps upload. If I start a TH-cam video on a TV my numbers seem to double when I do a speed test. That is just regular antenna. Waiting to see how it does over about 7 days of use.
Exact opposite for me, when I have things running my speed tests are lower. Regardless that's some excellent download speeds, especially to not have external antennas.

I sent my unlimitedville internet back today and I am ordering my netbuddy 5g router and have already ordered the 4x4 waveform antennas. The techs at waveform were very helpful and mentioned a band 4 or 66 would be better for internet then the band 2 I was shooting for. News to me! Anyway I appreciate you putting in all the work for this I’m hoping we have similar results so we can get moved out to our 36 acres soon!

As for selecting the Log Periodic vers Panel Antenna, it depends on many many factors but the number one consideration is how far you are from the most desirable cell tower and thus your available signal strength.
Andrew is working on a video to compare the two head to head, in HIS location, however NO two locations are the same due to dozens of variables.
GENERALLY speaking, more mass equals more signal strength gain.

This has probably been the most informative video on an issue that has plagued me for 2/3rds of my life. While I don't have the finances to get the equipment right now, I will be saving and investing my money into them, because good wifi like this will let me do my work so much easier, while letting me ACTUALLY have wifi to enjoy on games and streaming content! So I live in southeast texas and have awesome internet through cable. We have hurricanes though so I’m not only going to be installing a generac but also installing the antena + router/hotspot combo so I don’t lose power nor internet during the hurricanes. God speed.
I've installed cable in cellular towers in the one's I've been in. The tower is owned by by a company and all kinds of services providers will lease space in the tower. I've seen all service providers in the same tower and one's most never heard of.

anytime working with coaxial outdoor connections, make sure you water-proof everything. Might be an expensive and lengthy outage otherwise, someday.

I am on my first Cudy 4G LTE LT500D ($60 on sale basic) sim modem testing it out while researching options, and getting 20 Mbps before external antenna test, from a T-Mobil tower about 2 miles away. Could be my primary or back up Internet. Thanks for your style of sharing Lesson from DIY ... Hands On ... Learning about how the upper end Cudy and other sim routers can handle more than just on cell band, and looking at the Cudy LT18 now that can handle up to 5 bands at same time (via cell aggregation) . Man I appreciate this video. Even though had to figure everything out before I found it! Lol some people don't realize how much time, effort, testing, sacrificing the greatest signal you've achieved so far; to test a new spot, the patience, and the frustration when figuring this process out. Went from 1 bar of service to 3, took me months. I can't set up the outside antenna, company rules. Finally went from 5m Down, 1m Up.. to 45-77 Down, 12-16 Up. Wish I could get more. Lol appreciate this video man, keep it up!
I've been playing Call of Duty on 1 bar coverage for a year, finally I can play in 4K and stream at the same time. You guys gotta listen to this guy, he knows what's up!
P.S. 5G is trash if you're not in the bigger cities. So what he said about 4G LTE, is true. Way better.
If you use an Android, there use to be a setting available for you to change your preferred "band" to 4G LTE so it won't even think about searching for 5G!
They removed it a few updates ago.
The fix was to download "Samsung Band Selection" App in the Play Store. You could change it there.
Then they patched it to where you couldn't even do that anymore.
But for almost a year now, you can still use it. They didn't patch it all the way. Just hit "More Network Settings" instead of "Launch Band Selection"

I ordered the router with t-mobile last week and could not get get it to work. Yesterday they called me to assist but unfortunately we could not get it to pull in any signal. They are sending me a new router with an AT&T card, and I will return the other. I was happy to hear back from them and the guy really tried to help which was nice! I am hoping AT&T will work 🤞

Not sure if you heard of AT&T Wireless Internet. It's not cellular but does come off a cell tower. $100 installation and no equipment costs. It comes with a Antenna that is somewhat line of site but can get best signal from 5ft of the ground. It's new and apparently AT&T are starting to roll this out in rural areas.

Nice video. I’m in a rural area and I have found the lower 600Mhz 5G bands like with T-Mobile has further reach then LTE and higher bandwidth spectrum and faster speed. It penetrates trees and structures better, after all it was the old Nextel frequency that worked everywhere. I would say take advantage of the free few months of service you can get and test what’s best in your area.

Yeah, same boat, same part of the world, Lindale Tx and we had to use NextWave so right at 100 for max 15 mbps. Recently after I set up a noIP dns domain I noticed we got speeds over 100Mbps and it was like that for almost 2 months I’d say and I thought about asking how or why but didn’t want to alert them to it lol. It finally went back to slow recently. Makes me wonder if it was something I did?
I'm in South Texas and have been feeling the same impacts through Starlink. Eating the startup costs and setup work, is a bit hard bc my time with them will be just under a year of use. Definitely think it's worth trying the change though.
@@nm3547 south Texas has weak signal strength due to the antennas and bad heat .... antennas are always going down if you live in Mexico or Edinburg Texas.
East texas thought starlink was the ticket unfortunately they upped price $120 and slower speeds so we sold our starlink and right now using hotspots ugh

What's your download & upload speeds on Starlink, my 5G Home internet Gateway get is getting up to 427 mbps Download & 60 Mbps Upload and is not subject to Solar Flares or Space storms like Starlink outages had back in February when a space storm knocked out 40 spaceX satellites, cost millions, months to replace, whereas cell sites back are back up within hours if outage. Of course if you are more than 10 miles away from 4G/5G towers or on a remote Island then Starlink.
Great thought out and researched video. Well after watching your review and in the same boat as you guys. We ordered our system for TMobile. We have two hot spots which cost us $100 a month and then they max out at 100gbs each. We are looking for something that can stream our Ring cameras also. We have excellent 4g service for the most part on our phones and hot spots. If this system works it will save us about $60 a month, then we can still use it when camping.

This is what I needed to see and hear! My wife and and way out in the sticks. Although Verizon and T-Mobile both have about the same signal strength regarding reception, Verizon’s jet packs are fair at best and T-Mobiles cellular router is a joke. I think this is the direction we’re going to have to go to improve Internet service.
Working great for me. Went from 1-3 mbps down using my phone for Hotspot to 70+ mbps down. Another video posting today.
The cell stuff is cool we have T-Mobile 5G and ATT 5G out here in the sticks BUT i do love my Starlink

Yeah I’m using the net buddy with a cheaper cuddy router I have not had any problems yet using the T-Mobile card on it that they gave me I am in my first month of service though Hopefully I can get by with this so far so good I have not noticed any throttling or anything else I will try to keep you guys Informed there’s any changes I might add that I live out in the sticks and lots of trees all around

I use a service from TravlFi same type router they supply as yours has multi sims in my RV … don’t get those speeds but across the country I’ve had good speeds
Andrew I was able to buy the cudy lt-500 about 6-7 months ago for $99.00 and got locked in price for life of $39.99 a month rpght before they ran out stock ! I'm happy the version i got does have 4g & 5g and netbuddy is very good I wanted set mine up for running offgrid the power adapter changes it to 12v so i run it at home on 110v ir powers out i swap the plug to the one i made to run it on 12v or use in rv or van while traveling & im on the T Mobile network but could use att or version as i choose !
That's a killer price on that setup.

Excellent video! I have the T-Mobile KVD21 home internet router I'm using out in the countryside. I first looked into it when we were considering buying a lot and having a home put on it, but there were no cable or fiber, the only source of internet was cellular. T-Mobile said it wasn't available yet, but the Salesman at the store said to try it. I have a clear line of site, which is about 3 miles away, but I'm getting 313.78 down and 41.96 up. I was considering whether I needed an external antenna, but as long as I can get this with the unit in my office, I don't see a need. Thanks for the great videos!!

keep an open eye for Starlink, I have installed their equipment before in places that "had no coverage" and believe it or not I have gotten some of the best speed test results, in a few more months the 2nd gen satellites will quadruple the speed as well.
I'm good, I get amazing upload speeds which is extremely important for me. My download is plenty fast enough to stream multiple tvs and devices at the same time too. Not to mention all that for $39.99 a month.

So I have question about your set up? The initial set up was to boost your cell phone service or internet with the Hi boost device? Then next video you installed two directional antennas for your new router that can accept a data plan card/chip? And now this video is about adding a more powerful router and two additional antennas to improve signal strength and better download and upload speeds? I just want to make sure that i got that right. I'm in the process of investing some of the same products to improve my internet as well. Your videos have really help me.....
That's correct, the Hiboost has nothing to do with my internet, it's for cell signal only. I am simply showing there are different types of cellular routers and antenna options depending on how much you want to spend and how fast of internet you are looking for.
For redundancy and avoiding tower crowding... You may want to consider pointing two antennas at one tower.... Point the other two antennas at the next closest tower. Once that is in place... If tower 1 is down due to storm, power, service... You still have backup without having to repoint antenna. Just a thought. As far as crowding... I don't know if your router will attempt to auto switch towers based on speeds or singal strength alone.
I have the Verizon home internet white square box and I use it in the BLM lands in southern Nevada and California. I get anywhere from 30 to 60 and all the way up to 300 speed depending where I’m at and I don’t use any external antenna but I’m always looking around for better ways to get Internet. Put it on $50 a month.m unlimited They say it’s not mobile but it is I plug it into my Prius and I’ve used it from Northern California always to Vegas no problems but I would just like faster speeds when I’m out in the desert Boondocking 30s are ok for basic stuff

33:20 I was psyched when they built a cell tower about five miles from my ranch, several years ago. It's just never been turned on. Total cell-coverage dead zone, with a brand-new tower in the middle of it. Why go through the money and effort to build a tower and not turn it on? Because the rural subsidy that applied was for building the tower. Not providing service, from said tower! If they turned it on, they'd lose all that money they were paid to build it.

I have loved my starlink, but the recent reduction that I've noticed in my download speeds is concerning. The upload speeds have never been anywhere near what I expected(average of 8mbps up since install this last February). So...I'm looking at alternatives. Thanks for the video!

Same here, while adding the cost increase.
The lowest MHz will give the greatest distance but the speed will be slower. T-Mobile band 71 (600 MHz) 12 (700), 5 (850), 2 (1900), 41 (2500), 66 (1700/2100). You may be able to lock to a band if you see congestion.

So Andrew I have a question.. The first step in their instructions is
Step 1 - Choose a plan - [ AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon (SIM card) ]
So, who is signing up for their service? If you pick tmobile do you have to call them and open up an account? They just send you a pre-activated sim? You pop it in and go? How does tmobile know who the sim is registered to?
It's all handled through them, your Sim arrives with the router. You pay them the monthly fee. It's a very easy process, you don't have to deal with the carriers.
@@TKCL Hmmm..just seems kinda sketchy. I know they have had a lot of bad reviews on reddit on how they were just reselling prepaid att and other plans. Give an update when you can on how you feel about it bud.

Hmmm. I have the Chester Repair version of the Mofi and was told by Waveform that a 2x2 antennae will not work with it.
Not familiar with that brand, if it has antenna hookups for cellular, it should work.

Living in rural BC , this type of set-up interests me. My one concern is how will it work in the winter. You are based in a warmer climate zone. We get well over 5ft or snow a season. We are also in a area that gets no cell service .
No cell service means this won't work. You need some sort of signal to boost.
Since your cellular router has four removable wifi output antennas, remove one 5ghz and one 2.4ghz and see if you can purchase outside wifi antennnas to extend your outdoor wifi range.
I have one antennae using Verizon mifi .
Which SIM card do I need to get to run this whole setup? Through Verizon?
Not sure, typically you can only use a Verizon direct Sim for their equipment only. This is why you usually buy a 3rd party router and Sim combo that's already setup. Who did you buy your router from?
i have traveldata right now for my home internet, and their prices are going up next month from $85 to $150 so this looks like a good alternative

From my experience testing, the Suncomm 5g router is worth the money. Better hardware and speeds as a result. Paired with their $45 a month T mobile plan its hard to beat.

You would have to set the external antenna up each time. But the router itself with the included antennas can be used table top and it is allowed to roam and travel. I'd try the router as is with no external antenna for traveling.

I can tell you that T mobile is known for having the most laid back rules, least network restrictions and more. That's probably the better choice.
What is the tower distance from the house that concerns you. I looked at t mobile and they they do not offer it in my area is that because using the equipment they provide. I just purchased a home and was given wrong info about typenof internet. I am looking at satellite but working from is going to be a nightmare might just have to travel into the office. If I get tye hubbuddy and the antenna and let's say tower is less then 10 miles away do u feel it will work. I have verizon and at times get 3 bars at my house on 4g. Great video.
Tower distance is important, but not nearly as much as tower coverage. Use cellmapper.net to search all major providers in your area. Use the map to see the dots (towers) around your home and click on them. You will then see the shaded area and direction they cover. Almost all towers are directional and only cover a certain area.
If you really want outside Wi-Fi. They also make make outdoor Wi-Fi antennas the can be put on some routers if the Wi-Fi antenna on the router is removable as well.
I can't complain with my current router, 800ft before I drop signal. That's way farther than I need.
@@TKCL I did forget one thing if using one of the Wi-Fi extenders a little not it cuts your Wi-Fi speed in half when going threw one. Just thought I’d point that out.

You do not unless you add an external antenna.
I have AT&T service with Net Buddy for about 4 months and in the first two it worked fine I was getting about 40 megs down. but then I've notice the speed starting dropping to abut 3 megs. fortunately, the sped comes back when I reboot the router, but I have to do this every day. I tried to contact Net Buddy but they never returned my emails. there is no costumer service, you are on your own.
That's actually quite normal for cellular. Reboot puts you back at the top of the towers priority list. I use a timed outlet device that reboots my router for me while I'm asleep.

Hello Andrew. Thank you for the very helpful videos. I am thinking of getting a Huawai 535-232 router. I use CCTV so need port forwarding you mention I think in one of your videos there is no port forwarding. Is this right please?

I never mentioned that, I'm not sure if it has it or not. Netbuddy is running a new Suncomm router, check the specs on the new model, it might offer this feature.

Hello Andrew, I have the 5G CPE Smart WiFi System and a MOFI-5500. But the 5G CPE Smart WiFi System with T-Mobile runs circles around the MOFI.
I am about 3 miles from the tower and use 4 outdoor antennas. Mr typical speeds are 400-500 Mbps and 45-50 Mbps Up. I can't even come close to that with the MOFI. I wish I hadn't at all. a complete POS.
Interesting! What is the 5g CPE router? Is it like my outdoor router or different?
@@TKCL In my router I have the Quectel CAT19-RM520N-GL. I also have the external antennas that you have there but there are 4 of them. One thing to remember though,Keep you cables as short as you can and need. AT these frequencies the cable has a lot of loss. Do not use the cable that has 4 in a wrapper. Because they has a heck of a lot of loss. I bought 4 of the 30 ft LMR-400 cables with N type connectors. By signal increased by 2 db and Signal to Noise also got better. 2db don't sound like a lot but when you are at the edge of the signal it makes a big difference. In the smaller cable I was losing more than 1/2 of the useable signal and had a tough time getting on 5G. My 4G LTE was only about 120-40 Mbps and 10-12 Mbps up. I kind of wish I had gotten 15ft of the LMR-400 instead of the 35ft. That router looks like the same as I have on the outside.
The Quectel RM520N-GL: this 5G NR modem can aggregate 5G bands such as N71 with N41, because of this if you have T-Mobile this is the one to go with. This will also aggregate N5 with N77 on Verizon. On AT&T towers expect a nice performance bump when compared to other NR5G capable modules on the market, capable of aggregating bands with N5.

My quad Waveform antennas and Net Buddy / AT&T system was installed today. My results were 100-120 mbps down and about 10 mbps upload. The upload seems very low to me, any idea what can be causing that? Bottom line is I am very pleased overall, would be ecstatic if I can get the upload increased. Used the tape and timer recommended for the full install enchilada. Thank you for making me aware of this setup, very much appreciated.
Wow that's awesome speeds. Upload could be your tower, but please understand your upload is actually quite good. Even compared to DSL and SOME Starlink speeds I am aware of your still way ahead. Glad it worked so well for you.

Also if I may add,
Regarding your upload speed try swapping your connections, as the left and right tilting corresponds to receive and transmit and the orientation results do vary.
so try swapping ...
1- 2
2- 1
+
3- 4
4- 3
One pair at a time.
Testing each time.
Taking note of the latency times.
Very importantly Make Certain that antenna numbers,
1 and 4
&
2 and 3
Are Both tilted in the same direction!
☆☆☆ Always power down when making connections to both avoid electrical damage and also required to adjust too the changes in the polarization.
Also use Googles speed test for consistency to reduce some of the many variables both using WiFi AND hardwired ethernet to reduce the variables even further.
Lastly as Andrew has demonstrated small directional changes can have a large effect on performance so dial it in as much as possible.

I don't see why not, it has spots for patch cables on the backside. I'm about to be adding a mesh system myself.

For clarity regarding the High Gain Antennas.
They are known as ...
LPDA (Log Periodic Directional Arrays)
Or
YAGI Directional Antenna Array.
For

They are Passive Non-Amplified devices as they are not externally powered.
As opposed too the also passive flat panel designs known as Fractal Antenna Arrays also available in both 2x2 and 4x4 MIMO (multiple in multiple out) configurations, generally with less signal gain however with potentially higher signal interference rejection capability.

We just had a viewer do that same exact setup with an external antenna, and has been averaging 150 megabits a second down.
Excellent information! Any problems with drop-outs on signal or having to reset your modem/router to maintain a good signal?
I always reset, I have a timed outlet to do so. Cell towers have priority lists based on time of connection and how long you have been connected. Anytime you reset your moved back to the top of the priority list. I did have a small spell about two weeks ago of lost connection at random times. Not a single issue since.
Ok, I have a question. I hope it's not a dumb question. lol. I purchased the NetBuddy 5G Router with a T-Mobile Sim Card. It's working great, after figuring out the antenna issue, but I want to add a MESH system. Can you add a Mesh system to a Cellular Wifi Router? I'm new at this, but if I add a MESH system that then becomes my Wifi Router, let's say Orbi, won't my NetBuddy 5G Router not work, hence my Sim Card not work? Can you explain how to add a MESH system to a Cellular Wifi Router? Thanks and I love your videos. Keep them coming.
Sadly never done a mesh system, but I don't see why you couldn't?.? Should work with any wifi router I think.
So just got ours yesterday and have been playing with our TMobile version today. So if I just do a speed test and nothing is running in the background on the internet the numbers seem lower. 40-50mbps download with 2-4 mbps upload. If I start a TH-cam video on a TV my numbers seem to double when I do a speed test. That is just regular antenna. Waiting to see how it does over about 7 days of use.
Exact opposite for me, when I have things running my speed tests are lower. Regardless that's some excellent download speeds, especially to not have external antennas.
Make sure your speed tests are using the same test server every time.
You and I have a different understanding of "affordable".
