Then Ridley Scott evidently had a brain slug attached to his head and lost his mind because he followed this movie up with the trash David Covenant where Scott's new intent was "nope I changed my mind. The engineers, Aliens and various other characters can all go and die. I want the franchise to now be about my new man crush Michael Fassbender and make Alien about robots being gods and creating life instead."
Enjoyed your reaction! Thanks for posting. Hope you watch Alien Covenant next! I’d recommend looking into original script for when Wayland meets the engineer for better context.
Alien 3 is definitely worth watching. It gets some hate because it's not as good as the first two but it's actually able to expand on the Alien universe without repeating what the first two did. If you do watch it though, watch the 'assembly cut' version not the theatrical version. The 'assembly cut' is superior to the theatrical version and is actually pretty good.

Before you watch Alien Covenant, I highly recommend reacting to the two prologues that were released on youtube before the movie came out. “The Crossing” and “Last Supper”. They feel like they should have been in the film and give some good context and set the stage for what you’ll see.
Ridley Scott considered Prometheus an 'indirect prequel' (paraphrasing), and I've always considered this and Covenant more like "What If?" stories about the xenopmorph's origin. They're interesting (and as you saw, gross) in their own right and worth watching. Likewise, Alien Resurrection is more like a "What If?" future of the franchise, and similarly grotesque but worth watching. Not Oscar worthy, mind you... but watch worthy. Thanks and enjoy!
The universe could create life on Earth, and it did, so no David, for me that's not disappointing at all to hear my creator created me cause it could. Anything that could happen, will happen. For the past 6 months or so I've been dealing with a post 2 times PRK lazer eye surgery viral infection in my right eye, living half my life with a red eye, constantly fighting it with antibiotics, antiviral medication and steroids to make the redness and dendrite go away, one week it's gone, another week it's back, repeat..... avoiding the sunlight most of the time like a vampire since March, half the time looking like half a sleep deprived Resident Evil zombie, so yeah bad eye stuff in this film for me right now is quite relevant.
Charlie Holloway wasnt infected for taking his helmet of on the alien ship, it was David that put a drop of the black goo into Holloways drink that got him infected and get that tiny worm in his eye. Its also the reason how Shaw could get pregnant. There are youtube videos that are explaining this movie better and about the longer conversation that David had with the alien from scenes that got cut from the movie. The link is below. th-cam.com/video/rFjTxnb2l04/w-d-xo.html
In the opening the engineer ingests the black goo which breaks apart his dna and when he falls in the water it turns into red blood cells thus creating humanity
I really enjoyed this when it first came out. The issue I had was this: the ending could have so easily played into the first Alien film, had they simply made the planet Shaw and the Prometheus crew visited the same as the planet in Alien. They just had to make it LV426, I mean come on it was right there.
Ahhhhh very good point! I am certainly questioning how the heck the Xenomorphs disseminate across other planets now…not sure if that’s addressed in Covenant but I’ll have to watch it to find out!
@@CatherineLaSalle I saw Covenant a long time ago, and I barely remember it (probably need to rewatch it). Based on Prometheus the vibe I got was that the black goo was a bio weapon that leads to Xenomorph creation and is used by Engineers to wipe out planets. So I kind of figured they had used this stuff elsewhere and the Xenomorphs arose independently on different worlds (though I don’t know how lore accurate that may be).
You are correct, they should not have taken the helmets off...but the thing in his eye is from the drink David made him...using the black go from the cylinder he brought back to the ship.
Yeaaaah I totally missed David slipping something into his drink 😭 if I’d caught that, it certainly would’ve changed my opinion about him at the time that’s for sure!!
There's not a century between Prometheus and Alien. Prometheus takes place in 2094, Alien in 2122, so 28 years. The Prometheus sequel Covenant takes place 18 years before Alien.
The movie that made me sick to my stomach, the most horrific thing I've ever seen, the one that was good enough (very good) to watch once but I never want to watch it again: technically, it isn't even a horror film. It's called _Requium for a Dream_. Never again.
Ive always thought all of the alien movies are worth a watch with a movie series theres always gonna be 1 or 2 that are the least of the lot. Prometheus was an expansion of the story lore wise and i think its a good addition
I think most of their on location filming was in Iceland? But I'm not sure on that? Prometheus is an alright film - some BIG canon contradictions when put into context with the original ALIEN films, some issues with certain character development and arcs; basically, many of them made and even died from mistakes that you would not expect real scientists to risk - Holloway, and the biologist and geologist are case and point. And a few other things that don't make sense in a science and tech points - ie the med pod not recognizing female anatomy, when you have female crew members on board. The few creature designs and effects we got were very good! I liked the Deacon's final surprise emergence at the end! When Elizabeth had her "C-Section, for a 'MAN'", I really felt the urge to day, "Congratulations, it's a squid!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I really, really wish that the Engineers were a little less humanoid, and really embraced much more of something rather "Alien" compared to us in biology, technology and their actual appearance, like the original Space Jockey! They really could/should have embraced much more of the "other worldly", "cosmic horror", and "the unknown" themes originally present with the long fossilized Space Jockey in the concept of the Engineers, but by making them muscled out humanoids near genetically identical to humans really took a LOT of that away from them.
Very interesting points about the design choices for the Engineers, Jared!! I do agree with you - it could have been interesting to see a version of them that was SOOOO completely different from humanity as we know it - would’ve made for a very neat shock/discovery when they learned about them being our ancestors
@@CatherineLaSalle I've seen a LOT of various concept illustrations and paintings over the years of various artists' interpretations of a living Space Jockey. Some were kind of "boring", some were more interesting, and some were very, very eerie and creepy to look at! And something I had speculated at about a potential plot point for Prometheus (before the film premiered), was "what if" the Space Jockey/Engineer race had long gone extinct for some unknown reason? And what if the "goo" in the pods were left behind to potentially infect other lifeforms with something analogous to a biomechanical retrovirus? That would then breakdown the host's physical body over time and mutate it into a new/reincarnated (very "alien"/nonhumanoid looking) Space Jockey, with the working knowledge of their race's history and technology, who would then try to infect other worlds/species to resurrect the Space Jockey race! At least that's what I had speculated, until seeing the film when it premiered. I would have been pretty excited for a plot like that! And it would have been something new, horrifying and "alien" for the saga!
Also I have a love hate relationship with the horror genre. The hate part is that I feel too much films of the horror genre are just cheap shock value movies. Most of which are either just a contest between how much blood and severed body parts they can throw at the screen (see Terrifier as a good example) or is just some writer/director getting his perverted fantasies onscreen. The love part however is that I love the horror science fiction and horror parody subgenres though. The horror science fiction tends to actually have more creativity to it that I can enjoy. While the horror parody, especially the more recent ones, actually takes a generally good stories and just put a horror twist on it.
Very good point - I am not the biggest horror fan in general BUT I feel like I can get behind Sci-Fi horror because it adds an interesting story element at least, not just all gore / scares 😂 makes it more palatable for me, although this one STILL made me queasy
@@CatherineLaSalle Got to say, I love that you liked my post about switching to the Predator films after this movie until you can get a hold of Alien Romulus and glad you're doing that cause I see your Predator reaction! Also once you've gone past Terminator 1, John Carpenter's The Thing is often a pretty good science fiction horror too. Also crazy I just watch Alien Romulus, Totally Killer (horror parody of Back to the Future) and The Final Girls (Last Action Hero meets Friday the 13th parody) all this week for the first time and it's been a good week because all 3 films been great in their own way. If you want to take a slight break from the nightmare fuel movies, jump to fun horror movies, then jump back to nightmare fuel movies, I can give you some recommendations of fun horror movies.
Honestly, I never understood this movie. Like, I appreciate when a movie treats its viewers as intelligent and doesn't hold their hands and spoonfeed them all the answers. But I feel like there was some important information that got left out... like, why did the guy at the beginning melt himself? (We'll overlook how you can't get a human by just dumping a bunch of DNA or cells on the ground.) And why was David's entire motivation apparently to infect people with mutated aliens? What even was that black oil stuff and how did it all get there? Where did that original monster tentacle thing that apparently grew out of the ground come from? And how did the wild series of tentacle-monster-related events that took place in the movie _just happen_ to create what is, I assume, the first xenomorph? I guess a sense of inscrutable mystery was what Ridley and the writers were going for. But while things being unexplained is totally realistic, it doesn't make for a satisfactory narrative. Watching Prometheus is like listening to a small child tell a story that he's making up on the spot; things just happen, none of it makes much sense, and it kinda goes nowhere. The caesarean scene was amazing, though. Body horror meets medical horror meets squicky monster horror. A+++
I definitely agree with a lot of your points here! I feel like they scratched the surface with a lot of very interesting topics but then never explored them, and I just felt confused afterwards at times. I honestly would’ve liked to see them tackle this premise and the characters in a stand-alone story that wasn’t tethered to the Alien franchise, I feel like it operates perfectly fine on its own without having to be connected to that
"Sweet lord this is made in 2012? But the graphics. Here I am talking as if 2012 was from the freaking middle ages. But I feel like as far as technology has come. This freaking look better than somoe things made today." *cough*superhero movies*cough* Lets be honest, I think that's what most of us are thinking about when it comes to effects that are still looking fake like people are standing in front of a video game. Unless it's the Flash. That flat out looks like they took the CGI from the movie Polar Express.
If you're preparing yourself for Alien Romulus, I say you just have to watch Alien, Aliens 2, then this movie to understand Alien Romulus. Alien Romulus finally feels like the true sequel the Alien Franchise has been waiting for and the two main actors, Cailee Spaeny and the guy who plays Andy, are great. Don't want to say more, but felt like the movie deserves a sequel with them. Also if you're planning to watch more horror movies, I say after this one, no need for anymore Alien movies until you can get a hold of Alien Romulus unless you're really invested in the movies now. Instead I say jump over to the Predator franchise and watch the first two movies. The 3rd one with Adrien Brody isn't bad either, but might feel a bit like a rehash. Also if you haven't, watch the first Terminator movie if you're looking for more horror centric movies.
Oh the score was INCREDIBLE - mayyybeee I’ll find the courage to watch it again one day so I can actually fully appreciate the visuals and score - the initial shock is out of my system 😂
@@CatherineLaSalle I like how this one started out as a kind of archaeological mystery in space. Some of the gruesome scenes reminded me of the melting faces in Indiana Jones haha
Australian CGI teams are among the best in the world; also had cooperation with WETA, some British teams, and an LA one. The sheer stupidity of most characters kind of undermined any sense of tension for me. Although, Elizabeth Shaw was usually sensible enough in danger that it felt real with her; also, David is a fascinatingly sad entity, since he grows to despise his creators, thus meaning he hates himself; I think his initial motivation is purely curiosity, and despite his heinous actions, he didn't act with malice until he becomes full-blown misanthropic at the end. David is also an inverse of the Engineer that hates its kind's creations. In Covenant, the idiocy becomes even worse, so you basically have to watch it like a black comedy. Anyway, this is never mentioned in the films, but according to an interview with Ridley Scott, there are two factions of Engineers, one - like the Mr. 8 pack at the start - who focus on creation, and the other - like the one fought by Shaw - are the military faction focused on destruction. Apparently, Jesus Christ was an Engineer, and because humans killed him that is why the military faction of the Engineers so desperately wanted to exterminate humanity. The Engineer at the end also displayed particular anger at David because a synthetic life was an abomination to them.

Well done Cat, you survived Prometheus. It's in my top 5 Alien movies. Cheers from South Australia.
Thanks so much for watching!! I’ll definitely be checking out COVENANT next! I’m in too deep now 😂
I have always loved this entry!!! Your response was priceless- Yay to Monday at noon! 😊 And yes David infected the drink, finger tap ☠️
Didn’t even notice that 😭😭 I wish I had!! Otherwise I wouldn’t have been out here like “I’m rooting for David!” 😂
The look of the Engineer's was so freaky when I first saw them.
They are SO RIPPED
@@CatherineLaSallelol we noticed that you noticed
All the Alien movies are worth watching really, i would recommend all of them, fans tend to get a bit too fanatical about this stuff but all the movies have their strong points.
Alien 1 and 2 for sure others once at best
I watched it years ago but don't dare to do it again. 😂
Hats off to you!
LOLOLOL I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t wanna touch this movie again 😭
Thank God I saw this and the next movie cause your reaction was priceless lol 😆
LOLOLOL yeah I was in no way shape or form prepared for what ensued in this one lol
A good but frustrating film as it raises more questions than it answers and Alien Covenant doesn't do much to answer them either.
Hm very interesting - I’m definitely curious enough to watch Covenant, but if it’s gonna create even more questions than answers I guess I’ll have to accept that going in 😂
See's title... Smiles 😂🎃 Grabbing popcorn 🤘
Hehehehe and so REACTOBER begins!!
There's a lot of haters for Alien 3, but personally I really enjoyed it. You might too.
I definitely think I’m going to film my reaction to it! Why not 🤷🏻♀️
Great reaction. The true nefarious independence of David is further unleashed in Alien Covenant. His actions become totally autonomous after the Death of Mr Weyland. Also a Ridley Scott film.
Ahahaha oh gosh, nefarious is a great way to describe him 😂 I am definitely curious to see where his relationship goes with Shaw, I feel like he mainly just needs her to piece him back together and get the frick off this planet, so I won’t be shocked if he somehow betrays or sabotages her in the future…
Waiting for your Covenant reaction 😊@@CatherineLaSalle
So happy you’re making more movie reactions 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤ MORE

Aw thanks so much for this! Unfortunately I dabbled in the Alien franchise before Predator, BUT I definitely cannot wait to check out their crossover events! I didn’t know there were 2 Alien vs. Predator films! I’ve got a lot to watch 😂
You forgot Alien Romulus in this list
Ridley Scott wanted to tell the story of the dead alien in that chair you see in Alien
@@entertainmentfan1463 feel better now?
Wooooooaaaah wait now I’ve gotta go back and rewatch Alien 👀
Enjoyed your reaction! Thanks for posting.
Hope you watch Alien Covenant next!
I’d recommend looking into original script for when Wayland meets the engineer for better context.

AHAHA I’m glad somebody enjoyed that 😂 was by far the most bizarre way to start the week for me lol

I like a decent horror just subscribed to ur channel so this is the first vid i watched and i like ur reaction and looking forward to other reactions hello catherine
Aw thanks so much Adam!! Happy to have you here, we’ve got a LOT of scary content in store lol, Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and more!
Alien 3 has that last of us 2 effect where I think people really hate on it because it is super depressing but I love that, I wish people could go back and rewatch it and see how good it actually is
Great reaction and good for you and your curios brain)
These are prequels to the Alien series. Where Aliens(Alien 2) is regarded as the Greatest sci-fi of all Time. You have to go to the championship. So keep going.

YUP, I underestimated it 🤮
there was a longer scene with the engineer, definitely check that out!
Before you watch Alien Covenant, I highly recommend reacting to the two prologues that were released on youtube before the movie came out. “The Crossing” and “Last Supper”. They feel like they should have been in the film and give some good context and set the stage for what you’ll see.
This is your way to 'ease' into October frights?
LOLOLOL yeah I highly underestimated this one
hey catherine ever done a jackass 1 & 2 react yet? probably not you should check em out but be sure to have a barf bag just in case 😂
Hey, another _Alien_ reaction!
Heck yeah!! Definitely think I’ll get to Covenant soon!
Would love to see more of David’s convo with the Engineers!! Thanks for sharing 🙌🏼
In the opening the engineer ingests the black goo which breaks apart his dna and when he falls in the water it turns into red blood cells thus creating humanity
Wooooooaaaaahh yeah, I was so mesmerized and confused in the moment, I did NOT piece that together lol
Prometheus is the 3rd best movie in the Alien franchise as far as im concerned
1st of the worst.
I have yet to keep watching beyond Aliens! I’m debating whether to react to the rest of them based on the way people have warned me about them…👀
Hi Catherine hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
Same to you, John!! Thanks for all your kindness ☺️
You are correct, they should not have taken the helmets off...but the thing in his eye is from the drink David made him...using the black go from the cylinder he brought back to the ship.
So, Team Davis is so the wrong team. :)
Yeaaaah I totally missed David slipping something into his drink 😭 if I’d caught that, it certainly would’ve changed my opinion about him at the time that’s for sure!!
CGI in the 2010s is better than the CGI today
Good Movie. Beautiful Reactor...
There's not a century between Prometheus and Alien. Prometheus takes place in 2094, Alien in 2122, so 28 years. The Prometheus sequel Covenant takes place 18 years before Alien.
Yeah I’m not firing on all cylinders when it comes to mental math
The movie that made me sick to my stomach, the most horrific thing I've ever seen, the one that was good enough (very good) to watch once but I never want to watch it again: technically, it isn't even a horror film. It's called _Requium for a Dream_. Never again.
Ive always thought all of the alien movies are worth a watch with a movie series theres always gonna be 1 or 2 that are the least of the lot. Prometheus was an expansion of the story lore wise and i think its a good addition
I honestly feel like this premise could stand alone as its own franchise, not tethered to ALIEN at all!
@@CatherineLaSalle when you watch Alien: Covenant you'll see how it connects to the others
When Elizabeth had her "C-Section, for a 'MAN'", I really felt the urge to day, "Congratulations, it's a squid!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really, really wish that the Engineers were a little less humanoid, and really embraced much more of something rather "Alien" compared to us in biology, technology and their actual appearance, like the original Space Jockey!
Have you seen the evil dead movies

@@CatherineLaSalle yes you will probably enjoy the original trilogy and be traumatized by the newer evil dead movies 😂

Aw thank you so much for watching!! I will definitely be covering COVENANT, I’ve made it this far, I need to see how this ends 😂
I honestly would’ve liked to see them tackle this premise and the characters in a stand-alone story that wasn’t tethered to the Alien franchise, I feel like it operates perfectly fine on its own without having to be connected to that
@49:30ish.... "Your gonna hit me with me with friggn' hit me with No. 15 in D flat major after all that! What the frig!" =X-D Wow!!!
Lolololol for real 😂 the peaceful classical music felt like a slap in the face after all the TRAUMA we’d just endured
"Sweet lord this is made in 2012? But the graphics. Here I am talking as if 2012 was from the freaking middle ages. But I feel like as far as technology has come. This freaking look better than somoe things made today."
*cough*superhero movies*cough*
Lets be honest, I think that's what most of us are thinking about when it comes to effects that are still looking fake like people are standing in front of a video game.
Prometheus has some really beautiful music.
The series is called “Alien” and genre is Horror. You thought they were going to hand out cupcakes and sing songs?

YUP, just when I thought I could trust David…😂
I knew that C-section scene would make u feel sick lol
RUINED MY WHOLE DAY gosh it was horrific 😭😭🤮
It is time for Alien: Covenant) maybe with deleted scenes :p
Brave girl.
(30:39) I agree. Never release Mr. 8pac.
LOLOL that was just one mistake of the many they made 😂
Cath LaSalle needs to go see The Substance movie.

Bad idea to skip Alien 3 that one seals up the trilogy nicely as far as the 4th movie Alien Resurrection that one can be skipped its a good movie but definitely not required
Continue the franchise, please until you get to the most recent film which is Alien Romulus.

YEA - I like this. a lot - near as good as the 2 nd , to me. to me (yawn ) the 2 nd was kinda just chase, crash , repeat cgi stuff. this one has an actual story. the rest of the Alien flicks , blah.
I definitely loved this one in spite of all the gore/unsettling moments! I will say, as much as I was questioning throughout the film how it relates back to Alien, I really love the premise and feel like it could’ve been just as interesting to explore a story about the Engineers without having to tie it back to a pre-existing franchise
