No it wasn’t, *NSYNC were a group, they were generally equal maybe until about 2000 or 2001, you couldn’t have been around then.
I agree *NSYNC was a terrible group. I've always found them to be super overhyped for being super generic. The music and singing was not up to par with other male groups from the 80's/90's like Boyz 2 Men, Backstreet Boys & New Edition. Also as a dancer, I agree their choreography and overall dancing was not that great very all over the place especially the choreo for "Bye Bye Bye"

In their defense thry don't suck as much as boy band and rigid airship enthusiast Lou Pearlman. That man was a monster. Pearlman was the Dan Schneider of boy bands.

The other 4 (this includes Justin), realistically got very lucky to have JC Chasez to be in the group with them because without him, Nsync would have sounded like any other average generic boyband! As a person of color, I can firmly state that one of reasons why Nsync was able to break away from all the other generic sounding White Boybands is because they went hard with live vocals and choreography AND JC’s killer R&B made vocals! At least this is why a lot of us support them, has nothing to do with Timberlake.
Even if you don’t like their style, there is no denying that JC is extremely talented! Jive records fucked up and backed the Blackface wearing Crybaby Mama’s Boy! But what do you expect? America has implicit bias and on a subconscious level, Blonde Blue Eyes punks like Timberfake are still the beauty bias!
JC should have been given the support he deserved, because he could have been the next Richard Marx! Tell this day, JC is the ONLY former Boyband member that can sing above 4 octaves and nobody comes close to him vocally, past or present.
@@wegotit2587 Agreed. What really underscores this for me is their cover of Sailing. As a pre-teen non-American kid, at the time, I had no idea who Christopher Cross was. But thanks to N'Sync's brilliant cover, I did find out.
I almost think they were sabotaged by their own producer, or used as an experiment to test-drive what style of songs would work for other projects. To me this is apparent from how uneven the first album is: it's all over the place, and the opening track's long intro also didn't help, so it sounded like the producer didn't really aim that high with them to begin with.
I do think Justin could sing... it might not have been the best quality of voice, but the talent is there. But, ultimately, yeah, he had no business being the poster boy...
I feel sorry for the rest of the boys in the band. They thought they were just having a hiatus, not knowing that JT already decided to never go back to the band. Poor lads.
They have said they knew it was over.

Hahaha! As always…spot on with everything. Especially the dancing. Funny side note….ran into and met both Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick at Epcot on separate occasions. Both of them were super chill and genuinely friendly dudes and Chris even invited us to go drinking around the world with him! 😂

I grew up in the 90s and I never liked boy bands but they're still way better than any of those weird looking Korean boy bands. They also looked normal and not like androgynous androids.

When I was a teenager, I felt unjustly forced to listen to N Sync, the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, J-Lo, and other artists who were (or started becoming) very popular during the teen pop resurgence era of the mid-1990s and early 2000s. That was because my little sister used to like those acts, but thankfully got over them eventually. Me...I never could get into them. Some okay songs, but I guess their music is too “bubblegum” for my taste, along with folks who came before like the New Kids on the Block, or even later like Ashlee Simpson and BTS. Sorry about that!
Now, we like all kinds of music, and I myself added bands like the Beatles, Guns n’ Roses, Metallica, and Pink Floyd to my current musical taste in recent months.
