Great review and full of energy as always from this presenter. This is the best 911 in my opinion with respect to pricing, options and availability. It ticks almost all boxes for the enthusiast. Forget about the gt variants and turbo variants, this is the best bang for buck 911 out there. No true car owner will ever be disappointed with this. He is absolutely right when he says not to go too far with the options. Porsche has specced this car pretty much bang on (Coupe rear wheel drive) before you even start going into options, and it should be kept as minimalistic as possible to truly appreciate it.

    • @verycoolman1506
      @verycoolman1506 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah, good point. 100000k isn’t cheap for anyone. But even when you have a GTS specced to GT3 price the GT3 will be basically unobtainable to any ‘normal’ customer that wants to buy it.
GT3 prices can go from £200000 to even 300000 second hand in some cases, so I guess in that way, the GTS looks a bit better value

This looks like an awesome alternative to the GT3. The GT3 is phenomenal but in reality it's probably a bit compromised at road going speeds. This GTS, with the torque, is probably more fun to drive and more comfortable for daily driving. Now I just need to win lotto so I can order one!!

No it’s the 2.8 by numerous independent outlets on the RWD GTS. I’m on my 4th 911 and it’s been true from my 997, 991 and 992 models. My 992S can do 0 to 60 in 3.1 on a nice day flat out. I have been doing Porsche driving schools for over 7 years. Most people who buy a Porsche never exploit the true potential of the car but for those of us who do those tenths of a second matter. This kind of performance was limited to super cars 10 years ago. Porsche has produced a daily driver that is as fast to 60 as a 400k car was a decade ago.

I've got a 992.1 GTS. I have tracked it. Before it I had a 991.1 C2S with sports PASM, sports chrono, sports exhaust. I miss the 991.1. They are both good cars. I have driven 991.1 and 991.2 GT3 and GT3 RS's on track. The 992 GTS handles like a C2S with sports PASM, not a GT3 / GT3 RS. It is like a 2WD turbo. The downside of the car is it is too fast for the road and it ain't a GT3 on the track. In isolation, if I hadn't driven a GT3 or a GT3 RS, I would place the 992.1 GTS and my old 991.1 C2S equally as the best sports cars you can buy.

I don't think of this as a "mini" anything. For me, this is the ultimate porsche, "daily". Awd, coupe, MANUAL, rear-steer, carbon brakes. You can't buy that anywhere else. I WANT a manual. I also live in New York, and as I type this, it is 25° and snowing out. Not so bad that I need to take out a truck or suv, but 2" of snow and more on the way is definitely enough to not want to take out something rwd. Awd, is a boon. I don't look at this as a mini gt3, for the reason that the gt3 (and of course by extension the gt3rs and the gt2) as track cars for the road. Up to 7/10's the gts is better all the way around. Where it falls off is where the gt3 comes into its own, and being rwd is what I crave for the track. As for the 911 turbo s, I look at that as the everyday supercar. Or a supercar with teutonic sensibilities. Meaning, it has to do it all. Up to and including as a daily. So, to call it ansupercar is a misnomer. Again, to me, a supercar is one of those rare things that by it's very definition is for one type of thing and one type of thing only: 8/10's and above, or on a track, or short blasts on a suitable road, and as a mental health therapy session, etc, etc. The 911 turbo s does averything. So, calling it a supercar damns it with faint praise. But alas, it has no manual option, and is so powerful you can't use enough of its potential to get enough out of it on a public road to be able to fully enjoy it. And at 9/10's and above it has too much mass to keep up with the gt3, gt3rs, and gt2, on the track. Which leads me full circle: The car in Stuttgart's lineup that does it all as a daily driver, again for me, is the gts.

Hi There, I was looking to buy a 911 Turbo S, 2017. But, Porsche dealers are not in the market to make any buyer any deal, they want the buyer to beg for buying, i said; F**k Off!. I took my money and bought a 2018 Audi R8 plus, for a lot less cash, more warranty, and lower milage, ontop, i was able to bargain, it made me feel better, not the other way around. I dont see myself buying a Porsche ever now. A lot of prestige for the extremely wealthy. Too bad.

@@TuvingtonD I've heard that the ceramics have gotten much better in the last few years. I think that the bedding in process plays a crucial role in how they perform over the lifetime of the brakes, though That's not to say that the steelies wouldn't be better in the extreme cold. Judt overall I believe the ceramics would be the better overall pick. They are certainly better for resale (though that's not a concern I have when buying anything. Also,, I've read that the ceramics in most drivers hands actually last the life of the vehicle for the average time of ownership.i also didn't know that the steel brakes cost 2500 for a full replacement brake job. So, if the ceramics last 3-4 times as long on average and I don't plan on tracking it more than twice a year, then the amortized cost for the ceramics would be a wash. As far as the pddc, I think that ordering it along with the rear wheel steering is the way to go.

Really miss the 991 Carrera GTS with quad pipe , that generation exhaust note is loud as fk and it goes pop pop pop

GTS is indeed the sweet spot of 911, but its rather the affordable lite 911 turbo not the budget GT3 IMO. Much better choice than a carrera S tho.

How would Sir Rory spec his "baby GT3"? I once heard a certain Englishman suggest he would have asymmetrical seats on his GT3: a Clubsport seat for the driver and a sports seat for the passenger side. Interesting.

Should I get a 2022 gts or a 991.2 GT3? Asking because price is about the same

Porsche should only have 3 “normal” 911s.
A GTS as base, GT3 and Turbo S.
Have these 3 in any body form.
Like a GT3 convertible in manual if you wanted

“So what’s to like one of these? The cabin is has this and has that…and you get sport seats as standard…” 😳 This GTS is not different from any previous ones in the sense Porsche’s recipe has been exactly the same… and please save us from comparing the torque of a turbo engine and the one in a N/A engine 🧐

Can anyone tell me why the carrera s has such low ft lbs of torque versus the massive torque of the GTS ?

Can I order the GTS with carrera S suspension ( not harsh on the road)

Mini GT3? Its almost got 90% of what the GT3 has to offer on the track and is arguably quicker on the streets. Definitely not mini and shouldn't be compared.
