Valve ain't Selling Steam, pretty sure as long as Gabe is around won't sell. It will be a disaster if Steam is ever sold, especially to a company like Microsoft. Steam is basically the best games store on PC.
Another reason that Valve would never be bought by MS. Gaben LEFT MS to form Valve because of his distaste with the direction MS was taking their products, especially Windows. He would never greenlight selling his legacy to the company that has led him to kneejerk the most and make a whole Linux distro to combat and develop Proton to make gaming on Linux easier. The BEST they could do is collab as they suggested, maybe buy a small minority stake. But they never will be able to buy MS.
They should focus on listening to the fans like for example add mod support to fh5 and they shoupd look at other games like gran turismo and make it similar
End of the month. Gotta get those engagement numbers up. Let’s put out some total bullshit that is based on a falsehood from one guy on the internet. Great job team.
The logic is flawed. If they get the game on game pass and play it like they normally would make between 120-180 per person that does this. Plus they might try more Xbox games which creates more sales opportunities. The only money they are missing out on are for the people who have game pass and would've bought the game. So it's no risk upfront money or some risk with more money long term. It's a no brain for me if I was in charge. They bet the brand on game pass. If they backtrack now for some up front money they will never recover from the brand DMG. Google does that "I quit in 3-5 years if I don't immediately make bank" bs and that's why they have launched a good product in about a decade. Double down. Live by game pass and die by game pass.
I love the parrots in the comments who keep spouting how "steam makes 10B a year" as if Microsoft couldn't possibly affort that. Microsoft makes that much in about 3 weeks guys. They make 200B a year. They're worth 3 TRILLIONS. With a T. If they want to buy something they can and will. And then close it down and tweet about how much you need more games like the ones made by the studio you bough and then closed down...
Thanks to the Xbox All Access Program I havent had to pay for Gamepass in the last 3 years and still won't have to pay until Dec. 2025. I got the Series S through it and then I got the Series X through it as well so that gave 2 years of Gamepass Ultimate from both consoles. So even if they increase the price I'm still good and don't have to pay a thing.
Wait, when did they change that program? When they started it, your monthly price also included some specific amount of game pass in the monthly payment.
Matt talking about WoW is better than constant Pokemon or z-flip from Austin. If Matt stops taking WoW, then Austin should have to give up one of those, if not both (or be censored + fast forwarded like y'all do to Matt).
Makes no sense. Xbox is becoming a game service, Steam is a game platform. What would buying Steam do for them? They could just allow Steam on Xbox which would drive more sales
It's amusing that people value Valve based on emotion. Advice, don't ever trade stocks. It's probably good that they aren't public, lot of people would get rekt. Gabe net worth is assumed to be $4b and couple of years ago, it was said he owns 1/4 of the company (he owned 1/2 ten years ago), so it makes sense that Valve is worth $16b. Very few 400 people companies cost more than $16b, only some crazy startups. Game developer/distributor can cost more, but then they are much bigger. Like Epic Games, which has 10x more employees and is valued $32b. Steam, just like OnlyFans/Patreon, has inflated revenue numbers. Everything they sell, counts as revenue and they distribute part of that to sellers. The 30% that Steam keeps isn't profit. That's profit before the expenses. Steam is not just some store website, they are content distributor, they have large storage/hardware and bandwidth costs.
Do people just forgot that Gabe Newell worked at Microsoft for years he championed gaming on Windows when Windows was known as a glorified file manager he and a few of his peers are the reason that Windows is the gaming power house it is today. I pretty much guarantee that people from Microsoft some of his old friends even may have contacted him in private likely multiple times about offering to buy his company and his likely answer has always been a resounding NO!
Microsoft should have thrown 100 billion + on the table, assuming the minds of the people at Microsoft right now weren't so deep in the gutters. But it don't matter even if microsoft do sweeten the deal to 100 billies, that deal ain't going through. Microsoft already had a very hard time getting the other 70 billion dollar deal to go through.
I feel that the only time Steam/Valve will be sold is once Gabe passed away. But as long as he's remain strong or transfer his consciousness to an AI/bot/frame, then he will live forever just like Jensen. lol

If you can only find 1 or 2 games to play on Game Pass in 12 months, you shouldn't be subbed. I have trouble limiting myself to 5 games a month, let alone a year. The best aspect of Game Pass is discovery & trying games you otherwise wouldn't have paid for, which is why I pay for PC Game Pass.

Doom was the best selling software on UniX not windows and that was a major influence on Gabe newells decision making to leave Microsoft. He's given talks on this, valve tolerates Microsoft but they don't want them or their money.

Have said it elsewhere, but will say it again here. Consoles are just weak PCs with countless features disabled and inaccessible. Oh right, and you cant upgrade them with up to 4 16TB hard drives (more or less depending on your desktop) and a few big memory chips (currently got two 64GB sets. Which takes all four slots but its worth it) Consoles are weak, decrepit, and will only succeed with exclusives. It will be a disaster if Steam is ever sold, especially to a company like Microsoft.
Steam is basically the best games store on PC.
Its not the best its just the most popular. DMM is pretty good and so is GOG
Valve needs two to three times the amount of that Activision bag.
They should focus on listening to the fans like for example add mod support to fh5 and they shoupd look at other games like gran turismo and make it similar
End of the month. Gotta get those engagement numbers up. Let’s put out some total bullshit that is based on a falsehood from one guy on the internet. Great job team.
They would have to pry valve out of gabes cold dead hands and even then he would haunt them into bankruptcy
It makes more sense if Valve makes a full fledged Console. It would kill immediately the XBox.
According to Forbes, Valve only have a net worth of $6.9B as of March 2024
Thanks to the Xbox All Access Program I havent had to pay for Gamepass in the last 3 years and still won't have to pay until Dec. 2025. I got the Series S through it and then I got the Series X through it as well so that gave 2 years of Gamepass Ultimate from both consoles. So even if they increase the price I'm still good and don't have to pay a thing.
Wait, when did they change that program?
When they started it, your monthly price also included some specific amount of game pass in the monthly payment.
Ain't no way valve gonna go get bought by anyone. It basically doesn't even have competition
Thank you, stupid gullible internet, for believing that crap enough for me to get a 16 min video from Matt and Austin out of it!
Matt talking about WoW is better than constant Pokemon or z-flip from Austin. If Matt stops taking WoW, then Austin should have to give up one of those, if not both (or be censored + fast forwarded like y'all do to Matt).
Id totally play wow with yall 😂😂
After taxes it becomes $18 so it is. It's $16.99 before and $18.17 after taxes.
There was black ops 4 and the black ops Cold War which was as 5…

@@gsoma4022 bro Cold War was literally black ops 5… that’s why they are now on 6 so go argue with Activision 😂
given valve heavy focus on linux and steam deck, the last thing they want is to be bought by ms. So just from that alone the rumour doesn't make sense
It will happen at some point and fanboys will cry
With all the money in the world, Nintendo still laughed in Microsoft’s face.
If they raise the price for a game i will never play, i will drop gamepass. I'm not going to pay for (for me) uselessness. Nope.
Music is too loud
Microsoft should have thrown 100 billion + on the table, assuming the minds of the people at Microsoft right now weren't so deep in the gutters. But it don't matter even if microsoft do sweeten the deal to 100 billies, that deal ain't going through. Microsoft already had a very hard time getting the other 70 billion dollar deal to go through.
You can't stop wow austin it's every where
I feel that the only time Steam/Valve will be sold is once Gabe passed away. But as long as he's remain strong or transfer his consciousness to an AI/bot/frame, then he will live forever just like Jensen. lol
Game Pass natively on Steam Deck would be a sure thing. I would get it day one.
Hell no. Its already failing now. Expect gamepass to not be a thing very soon under new leadership.
@NostraSamus What new leadership? PC Game Pass was good for $10. I just don't use Windows; I use Ubuntu mainly, so.
@@justinseans Satya and Sarah Bond will be making the big decisions now. Phil did not convince Microsoft that he can get Xbox out of the red. Trust me, a lot of changes are coming.
@@NostraSamus I don't think that Sarah Bond will be making any decisions for long, until she ruins Xbox even more than Phil did.
Looking at interviews with her, she literally has no idea about gaming and the industry.
@@appleleptiker Her job is safe because Xbox NEVER cared about “gaming.” Sarah Bond does know the mobile market, which xbox is trying corner.
From what it looks like, Phil Spencer doesn’t know much either. Microsoft never grows their expertise in any subject, they simply spend money to buy their needs a la carte.
Remember when sony tried buying it and failed
This sent chills down my spine.
If you just play 1 or 2 games on gamepass it’s not worth it. But if you play a lot of the Indy games ea games etc it’s way worth it. $200 a year and I play every bit of 60-100 games a year off gamepass. And if the game sucks you’re not out anything.
Based on recent events Microsoft would destroy Valve and it would plunge PC gaming back into the dark ages.
Steam: Exists
Xbox: "If I can buy that, I can put the games on gamepass. After that I dont need valve anymore because Gamepass will skyrocket!"
they are partnering with xbox though i know that to be true for over exactly 16bn so yeah since they are not buying them because a. valve is a private company and b. valve is willing to partner with xbox now for the 16bn
That's the funniest joke I've ever heard
Valve would be worth at least twice as much as Activision
Valve.
Market cap. $3.2B
Net worth. $6.9B
Activision.
Market cap. $74.28B
Valve is worth more than Activision.... Nooooohohoho noooooooo
The csgo skin market alone is worth over 3 billion dollars 😂
Bo, bo2, bo3, bo4, bo: cold war, bo6
Valve was created to get off the leash of the Bill Microsoft failure field. Doom was the best selling software on UniX not windows and that was a major influence on Gabe newells decision making to leave Microsoft. He's given talks on this, valve tolerates Microsoft but they don't want them or their money.
It don't matter what price point they put on it they can put $30 and we still going to pay for it just like we pay for Amazon Netflix and every other subscription service so stop acting like if Microsoft up the price we won't buy it
You NEED a wow video:)
They should port WoW to Xbox. Mouse and keyboard required.
Also it wouldnt be approved because it would be a monopoly of the pc gaming market . So it couldnt be approved even if they tried .
Did you just diss soda i drink a coke once a month its gd shit don't diss soda my gay ben just don't gay ben
Which takes all four slots but its worth it)
Consoles are weak, decrepit, and will only succeed with exclusives. Thats why Sony has beaten both Sega and now Xbox in the console wars, and why Nintendo has already taken first place with everyone else fighting for third.
Microsoft has reached a new level of stupid.
Biggest company on the planet though
Gaben should invite them to their office, make it clear that theres not enough money in the world to buy valve and give them complementary Steam Decks :)
I can't afford internet
Lol
Yeah, I want to play Steam games, like, Breakneck, on my Xbox
Unsubscribing so I can hear Matt talk about WoW
Problem with cod on steam deck you have boot into windows to play cod on steam deck with online play
I just cancelled game pAss. They can raise the price all they want. IDGAF no more. 🤘
Good cause of they did, I'm trading gaming for skydiving. I don't want to be under the Xbox nefarious game pass/umbrella. Microsoft has only hurt the industry with their greedy decisions.
As of March 2024, Valve, according to Bloomberg, is only worth 6.9 Billion. I’d check your facts a bit more thoroughly before making a video about it.
Valve also made 13 billion in profit in 2022
Valve ? what have they done that's any good ...
Valve should buy Xbox and fix everything

Don't say deadlock is successful if it hasn't even come out yet. It's most likely going to be dead on arrival since valve doesn't know how to make games.
Half Life, Portal, Counter Strike, TF2, Left 4 Dead
Even if they increase the gamepass ultimate price to 30 dollars a month, it's still the best deal available in gaming
Good deal for gamers. Not so much for the studios.
@aries4378 stop. the studios are getting paid regardless of their game being on gamepass or not they aren't putting the game on the service for free.
