    I just want the C70 mii with a better body design and a sensor that shoots internal 6k and it would be perfect.

      6K would be nice for longevity. I think the body design is quite versatile. They do need to put a better hinge on the screen though 😵‍💫

    Just making you also know about the luminance monitor settings to increase the backlight massively for shooting outdoors. ANnnnd the new battery save setting, ow power mode to increase the battery life, great for indoor work since the monitor has to stay a the base backlight luminance setting.

      Yes increasing the luminance is great for outdoors! I do try to use an external monitor when I can because the native screen is pretty small and the hinge is weak.

      @@TrentErwin The hinge sucks. It was improved in more recent releases, but I still love running it clean when I can for speed.

      Heard that. Yes for quick run n gun situations I just roll with it and pop the top handle one for extra grip.

    if you were to buy a camera today for documentary/ vlog content, what camera would you choose, fx3, fuji
    H26,canon 6 mark ii, or any other suggestion. I also take pictures occasionally great content

      I would get the Fuji X-H2S. That thing is incredible. Beautiful video and photo. Fuji is doing amazing things.

    've struggled with the AF on my C70 compared to my R5C. Do you have any advice? I'm not sure why it doesn't feel as intuitive for me.

      I mainly use the C70 in facial AF for interviews or tracking a subject. Then when I have it on the gimbal I use the small AF area for pinpointing my focus. Outside of that I often go manual focus when I’m handheld.

    From my experience, I don't get why RAW is so appealing to people. It uses up a lot of space and I feel like HEVC 4:2:2 10bit or something in a high bit rate with a good log profile is good enough?
    (my experience comes from the Fuji X-H2s and Sony A7iv, so it is limited but I tried BlackMagic raw a little bit and it is not worth it for me. ProRes neither. but Logprofiles make a huge difference.)

      On the C70 I like having 12-bit color and the flexibility of RAW for some of my projects. Especially projects where I’m shooting a lot of b-roll that will be used for quite some time for the client. B-roll that will be cut into multiple videos. So having the best quality on hand is favorable in those scenarios. Also the Canon RAW codec is very smooth to work with.

      Do you need a hybrid cam? That’s kinda the big difference. If not, the C70 all the way.

      tbh i would say the c70, more dynamic range, internal ND, and the raw is manageable. The raw in the canon 5RC, at least the 8k, is laggy on my computer. and my specs are no joke lol, 64gb of ram, and ryzen 9 5950x 16 core CPU with the 24GB RTX 4090 GPU.

      @@AnimeZone247does R5c has a better image than R5 ? Clog 3 on R5 looks crap most of the time due to noise. How’s it on R5c ? Thanks !

    Hello Trent, i'm considering buying the c70. I have a question that never saw answered anywhere. c300iii have raw and complex formats that record 410mb/s or higher, but has also CF express cards that match that write speeds. The fastest SD card on the market writes what? 300mb/s. With the update, if you can record 410mb/s or higher with the C70 how does the SD card manages to record that without issues? thanx

      That's a really good question and I don't have a specific answer. Magic I guess haha. I haven't had any issues writing RAW LT to the 300mb/s cards. I don't ever shoot RAW ST, so I don't know about that one.

      Absolutely! Yeah I was shocked Canon added RAW to the C70 and recording to SD cards. But it works. Pretty amazing that it does. I love having multiple recording formats in the camera so I can be more compressed for less important stuff and then go all the way up to RAW for more high end, important work.

      @@TrentErwin of course, great cam. a lot of codecs, mini xlr, nds, battery life and a crazy sensor. i need exactly all these features for my work and not a lot of cameras has this mix.

      Just jumping in here! V90 Cards have a max bitrate of 700Mbit/s. The V90 supports 90 Megabytes/s in theory at a consistent speed for video recording., so even a v60 card could work with the lower datarates too. The C300 Mark III does have faster cards which allow for Raw up to 120 fps going north of 1Gbps, higher than even v90 cards can accomodate. Also keep in mind Braw and Canon Raw are different, in fact all raw recording modes operate in post a little different. But since the C70 DGO sensor processes the image before the raw decoding, the raw is so much cleaner and noise free vs every other brand by a mile. It's a big deal.

    So just a question. 12 bit raw is so important to you right? So when was the last time you shot an event let say 2-3 hrs long 12 bit raw? Raw video is cool for 30s clip yeah sure. But it is not suitable for long form production because you would be pulling your hair out and swearing left and right. Raw video editing and storage nightmare. And your client will not notice the quality difference either and you still would receive the same price for your work. The question is why everyone wants to dealing with raw workflow the the same amount of money that your client agreed to pay you. Make no sense unless your time is worthless. I rather shoot Xf-AVC 10 bit workflow all day long.

      Bruce, I didn’t say I shoot 100% of my projects in RAW. That would be ridiculous. I don’t shoot events in RAW. That would fall into the 2/3 of projects I don’t shoot in RAW. The 1/3 of projects I do shoot are ones that I know are going to be “hero” style shots that the client is going to want to archive and use multiple times. And in that instance I want the very best possible, which is raw. Trust me, it’s not a bad workflow at all. I don’t even have to create proxies for it in Premiere or Davinci. It’s a great codec to work with. And I don’t mind storing it for my clients. My time is valuable. And so is the content I shoot for my clients. So I try to always do the best for the project.
      XF-AVC isn’t a huge savings in terms of space over RAW but I’d rather have all of the information in RAW.
