Canon is a very solid choice that will stand the test of time. I have 2 C70's and an R5c that can handle anything I need to shoot. Image is spectacular.
I love my C70! it's an All Day Work Horse pros: excellent 4k image quality excellent battery life Canon Color *chefs kiss* SD cards (as you mentioned) built in ND filters! filming in LOG with many ISO options (100-1600) very robust codec "filmic" image w/pleasing highlight rolloff good, but not great IBIS (digital only) good face-detect autofocus + tracking professional exposure tools like waveform professional audio interface including manual 2 channel gain dials cons: Canon hasn't really made a lens for this camera yet (it needs an 18-55mm f/1.8 for APS-C) 3rd parties are just starting to make lenses for the Canon RF mount, so less options than Sony No EVF / few EVF options appropriate Mini XLR adapters are super difficult to find
Absolutely man! Couldn't agree more! I've been loving my Canon 24-70 2.8 with it. But definitely gotta work around lens options. I might be looking at getting some anamorphic RF glass soon too! I also use the Ninja V for a monitor, and it's super bright, so I haven't practically needed and EVF. I've also been using a Kondor Blue mini XLR to full size XLR, and have been really happy with that adapter. Hope that all helps brother! Happy shooting!

Hmmm the sony system seems to be the better system overall. Full frame, lense system, fx3 , fx6 can work together , having same sensor/image quality and customers seems to prefer sony. To me canon missed the boat. The r5c is a bit of a joke, c70 is apc .
The c70 camera is one of the best cinema cameras ever created in this price range. especially since it has almost all the advantages of a real cinema camera even if it only does 4k, especially now with 8k or 12k extrapolation software no need to change your camera, there is only the hinge of the viewfinder which is really fragile, on this camera, otherwise it's a real workhorse, I would recommend it to all serious users
I bought two R5s in 2020 and then the C70 in 2022 to "up my game" I found that the Super 35mm was limiting. Perhaps I got spoiled with the Full Frame and now it's hard knowing that the lenses so well on the R5 and now on the C70 it feels like I'm losing so much. Have you had an issue with that mental hurdle?
Same here. Spoiled by the “full frame bokeh” lol I love my R5 for photos but the C70 image in video just blows the R5 outa the water. No comparison imo. C70 image looks extra cinematic and pleasing and the Dynamic Range is amazing. Just wish it was FF, so I could use my RF lenses (rf 15-35 f2.8, rf 50 f1.2) that I use on R5 instead of constantly doubting whether to go speedbooster route with noisy ef lenses or just suck it up and be fine with loser f4 life lol
So confused on what lenses to buy for C70. Coming from the R5, I already have rf 15-35 mighty f2.8 which essentially becomes 22-52 F4 on the Loser 35 C70 crop lol. But I would still be native and have IS. If I went ef 16-35 f2.8, I do get the full frame f2.8 glory, but lose IS and will have the clicking auto focusing noise that’s there on almost all ef zoom / prime lenses. Why does Canon make it so hard ?? Lol
Did you ever consider the R5C for B-Cam to your C70 or are you happy enough with the R5? Totally agree with the C70 being a great purchase in 2023, especially after all the firmware updates.
I definitely did! I just ended up buying the R5 right before the R5C came out, so we’re just working with what we got hahah. I’ve also thought about upgrading the R5 to the R5C, but I’ve been happy with the R5 and making it work with the Ninja V+ so far! 🙌
I have my R5C as my b-cam and love it. Honestly though the lack of rigging from the C70 spoiled me. I have a powerbase connected to my R5C when shooting because the battery life on an LP-E6NH is atrocious. Not to mention if I want ND's I use the Nisi swift system for that. The biggest gripe though with the R5C is C-log 3 vs the C70 c-log 2 which is so much better. So now I use C-log 3 on my C70 just for color matching purposes. But if I wanted a rig-less camera like the C70 then I'd just get another C70. I got the R5C for the 45MP photo capability combined with the Canon cinema menu (I chose the R5C over the R3 because I hate Canon's photo menu).
Do you find RF 24-70 beeing to tight on C70? I'm looking to buy all-round lens for my C70 and I'm having headache deciding. Recently I've shot some vertical content for social media and EF 24-70 with speedbooster was in some shots to tight. But I was missing IS from RF lenses. So I could pick up RF 15-35 but then I'll loose telephoto capabilities of 24-70. RF 15-35 + 100 macro could be solution but I really like convenience of not having to switch lenses during fast paced client work. Do you have any thoughts about this?
It is pretty tight yeah. My plan moving forward is to actually get an EF 16-35 2.8 and use the speed booster that came with the c70 to get that full frame-ish look, and get wider. However the 24-70 still looks great, and is definitely a useable lens on the c70!!
I also have the 100 macro, but it is a hassle to change back and forth! I think you’re gonna have to change when you want telephoto regardless, so my plan is to get the 16-35 EF, leave the adapter on it, and use the RF 24-70 when I need the extra range! Hope this helps!

Do you see a difference in image wuality? As far as i know c70 has even better dynamic range than the r5 and i doubt r5 colors are better.
