Showing how you can run 2 midi controllers using an old iPhone 6+...If you are looking to do this with more modern iPhones(without a headphone jack) plug an audio interface into the USB hub and it will send your audio out!
And do can you use the same apps
this is easily one of the most impressive compact rigs I have ever seen. nice work.
I am Brazilian and I play in a small church with 50 people and recently we bought a keyboard controller, but I have to take my computer to church, and a lot of work because I do not have a car to do the transport, this video will help me immensely, God bless your life in double bro.
+DuGhordo wow that’s awesome!
realmente, mandou muito, pesquisa o canal do Marcos Padrinni aqui no YT.
See if you can get a used ipad or ipad mini. Some synth programs need the screen space of the ipad.
Also, you can also get a powered USB hub which also has an "audio interface" (headphone jack) built in if you have to use a newer phone with no headphone jack. The interface in the hub avoids electrical noises that are sometimes in the devices when they get busy, as well.
You can do pretty much things with a Roland Juno series or the Yamaha synthesizer workstations in the same price range.
Rob F Talking some sense;)
That is amazing! What's really interesting to me is you came up with the thought process to even think of something like this. I'm by no means brain dead, I run two I-pads and an Android tablet on my rig because of what I have to do for my band, but I've never thought how simple and cool this is just for myself. Thx for posting, great job my friend.
Robert Nidever thanks and you're welcome!
Incredible how making music is evolving in our life nowadays. Technology becomes better, cheaper and smaller and running 2 MIDI keyboards with only an iPhone is simply fantastic!
Can’t tell you how much I have learned on YT from church keyboard players. This is awesome. Thanks!
You’re welcome!
Now I know what my iPhone 6 will be used for when my contracts end. This is not only groundbreaking information but do you how much money people can save from using this? Wow, this has blown my mind.
Crazy to think where tech is at right now bro, nice vid!
SoundsAndGear.com yessir!! And thanks so much!
to John Mike:
Can you name some iPad apps with good sounds (other than MK Sensation, Korg Module and Roland Sound Canvas)?
@@Johnmike what is the name of the application for Android
I ordered my first midi keyboard yesterday, and it will arrive tomorrow. I am using a Android phone with the CPU speed / core number slightly higher than the iPhone 6. Wish me luck. I took piano lessons for 1 year when I was 5. I am trying to pick up again after decades with all the modern tech unimaginable when I was a boy, and now the TH-cam music knowledge.
YOU CAN DO IT! Go for it.
Thanks for this bro. Saved me alot of money not buying an extra synth, now I can run my iPad with multiple apps. Bless.
What a bless bro! You are a humble servant that shares you knowledge with others for the glory of the Lord!
Thanks for the great tips, John! You're helping me with demystifying some of my issues with VSTs and live performance. Blessings brother!
Michael Romeo you're welcome!
the best video i have ever seen in my life. OMG
How cool. At age 68 I am just now getting into Midi. I have all technology. I just need to check out people like you who are using Midi. Thanks for the video...
Thank you for this impressive simple example for a setup, Captain Future :) All the best & be blessed!
This is awesome can you do an update video with the newer IPhone?
Can you do a follow up video on where you plugged your stuff up,what you need to plug up and your amp
This is cool. I can now travel to our other campuses with my controller and my iphone6. Thanks for sharing.
This video changed the game! Thanks for posting
I appreciate the info, John. Before viewing this video, I didn't know this kind of setup was available via an iPhone.
Offiong Jones. St. Louis Mo. Just wanted to say thank you for this video. I have a Williams Allegra and I don't like the sounds the board came with. But by using your setup, I'm looking forward to elevating the worship in our service. Thank you and God bless you
The music you're playing at the beginning is so good, so inspiring! Thanks for sharing your tips. Hugs |ElizaT
Thank you Bro for making life enjoyable with simple things
that opening track is where its at! you have a complete track for that song???
That is amazing broooo! Regards from Indonesia.
Thanks!
@@Johnmike Your stuff inspired me a lot.
Glad to help!
Very cool. Awesome playing. Thanks for making this video.
yo bro just watched a recent review video of yours from the search bar was dope, your voice sounded familiar and I remember you from this video, just wanted to say your voice sound good man, but get more adventurous with your content. hope ya get to a 100k subs, claim it
Awesome!
Can i do same with garageband on a Mac?
wow bro i liked what you were doing in the begining !!!!!! propz bruthu luv!!
Thanks!
Can you please make a video of iOS apps that are great for keys like Korg Module and GarageBand?
A great video John.
I'd like to see Apple bring MainStage to the iOS format. I think there are alot of us out there who would use it.
Check out AUM...it’s the closest thing to mainstage on the iPad...check this video I did: th-cam.com/video/kxoNFgi12Lg/w-d-xo.html
Great stuff! Brilliant playing!
Is there an updated setup for 2023 with the iPhone or ipad
Thanks! What was that awesome Moog-y sound you were jamming on your upper keyboard?
Thank you, Mike! Good video and great suggestions!
Awesome tutorial! Thank You!
Thanks 4 sharing, would you please tell me the name of the apps?? Are those apps 4 free?
My Setup is an Ipad Pro with Ravenscroft 275 piano app and as you the Korg and as drummer, the Launchpad. I record in Garageband. My Keys are an Roland Digital Piano for the Ravenscroft and an Novation Impulse. :-)
Now i have Cubasis 2 too, yes i got my stof :-)
Great video John this was really helpful I really like your set up. What do you think of the M-Track Hub by M- Audio? This could be a great compact interface for a set up like this. I'm thinking of adding it into my setup. Thanks to you I went ahead and purchased the MKsesations and the Korg Module rather than buying an expensive new keyboard this had added a new life to my Keystation 61 & 49. It's a new digital world out there. Cheers mate.
Great apps - also check out Pure Synth which is available and if you'd like to add another Piano / Rhodes the FMTines (both by Gospel Musicians). The Korg Module is also amazing with all the extra sound banks and presets that can be added via in-app-purchase.
wow, thanks for this video! whoo 2 keys! this whole time I was using an ipad 2017 and iphone4s for two sounds.
Heck even if you dont have an iPhone its still cheaper to buy an old one and download the apps over wifi than just use it with a midi rather than buying a pricy Yamaha! You can get old iPhones cheap under $100 and new midis that cheap too (m-audio,AKAI)! Make sure youre in airplane mode if playing live with an active phone lol
Thanks for the video sir! Could you post a link for where we can find the mixer you are using or something similar?
+Andrew Antwi amzn.to/2wXsro0
Great playing mate! How do you power your phone? I don't see any power cables going to the usb hub.
I have this same question
on battery, of course.
Okay so I have an iPhone 7 Plus can I still have the some configuration even though I don’t have a separate headphone jack ?
Yup check this video that I did th-cam.com/video/wVhSsYBTIsM/w-d-xo.html
Was gonna ask :)
Looking for the link in the description. Could you please tell me where to find the description. Thanks bro
Thanks! Very nice to introduce the features.
Can you please post a link for all the apps you're using. I can only find the mksensation
just added them to the description
Thanks. Keep the videos coming. You're truly a blessed musician
Please State the wo lead Sounds once more you used in korg module. Cheers Arwid
This is it John Mike!!!
Hi, can I do this with the more recent iphones? I am having difficulty with amplifying the sound following the connection of a midi usb dongle. It generates sound on the iPhone XR max, but if I put the charger/audio splitter it no longer controls the iPhone. I seem to be able to get just one out per time. This is because those new phones don’t come with a 3.5mm point. Kindly help.
Check out this video I did th-cam.com/video/wVhSsYBTIsM/w-d-xo.html
@@Johnmike Amazing! I will try this out and let you know. Thanks a lot!
Beautiful playing. Nice voice, too.
Hope you have a video of more of your music.
Thanks for all the tips. I have Samsung Android phone and pad, so I assume there are similar products for it.
Thanks! Sadly there isn’t
How did you power up the mixer without using it as an audio interface.
Great stuff man! Appreciate for the video!
Do you experience any latency problem or like the iPhone running hot and can’t keep up?
Is it reliable considering these problem?
Thanks!
Nope neither....very reliable and I’ve played whole church services and gigs using my phone
@@Johnmike ...it's insane really, if you think hard about what you are actually doing there John(!!)
Thanks for the dope video. This video goes out to the person always thinking that they need more. NOPE YOU DON'T. Rock the phone and be happy. It sounds great.
Sir John thank you for this demo. I have a couple question. Why my Mksensation didn't work in backgroup. If i press the Home button of my iphone 6.i don't have a sound.please help me Sir what should I do.
John nice video. Just wondering could you split a keyboard like your keystation with two sounds on one platform. Like piano on one side and lead on the other. Nice work Bro.
Thanks and yes you can...if you use an app like korg module pro or AUM
That playing was very good 😊👌
+Joselchino thanks!!
Sounds great! But what happens if you get a call while you're playing? Does it go through the PA?
Bobby Maestas I always put the phone in airplane mode before using it live
Of course! Thanks!
Yes, airplane mode will help stop that.
*yelloww.. momma baked you apple pie, come home lil fang*
Whoa I had no idea about all of this. Thank you for sharing. 😊
I think of all gear I've lugged over the years. Man, that's sweet!
Hello mike. I love your videos. Thx for sharing this... but I got a question. .... does the lead sound you're using come with the basic korg module app or you purchased some expansion ??
Korg triton expansion
Awesome video! Is it possible to plug in a Samsung phone? How would the process go?
No sorry you can’t do this with any android phone...the apps and the compatibility just isn’t there
Nice. Thanks for sharing!
Hello Mike, Great Job on your videos! I purchased the Korg Pro Module after watching your youtube video for my iphone. I cannot find the hip hop lead you used on your demo. Is it in the old Korg Module? How can I get that sound?I love it. Nick V-Texas
It’s in the triton expansion
@@Johnmike Thank you Mike.
Hey man, can you share abit more about the set up to get the output to the house speakers at church? I have an iPad and the lightening to usb as well as the usb hub, do I need a mixer or is there another way around it?
Thanks for sharing. Nice playing too!
Thanks!
Hey John Mike, this is really great, i’m certainly going to try this. I am already using my iPad Air with a Yamaha MO8 at church so I shouldn’t have any problem. Tell me though, can the Korg module do layers and splits or do you know of any app other than mk sensation that can do this. God bless u man.
No not directly in the app...however you can get an app called AUM that will allow to load and control multiple software instrument apps and layer them together
thank you for this concise how to!
one question came up for me about charging the phone. Have u tried charging it while playing by plugging in a power source into the usb hub?
greets from Berlin
Yea I have a usb to lightning cable now with a charging port on it
@@Johnmike , which one, please?
Chris Brisson this one
amzn.to/2ZrC3Fu
Mannn, what chord progression is this? Sounds great!
My equipment is an iPad whit iOS 12,a Numa compact piano 2 , and impulse 61 from novation
can this setup work with no mixer? im trying to play two diferent usb midi keyboards using only one midi plus sound module but im still doubtful if it can work
Can you share that progression sir? Thanks
Brilliant tutorial, thank you sir!
Please give a tutorial on hiw you played the intro on the main keyboard 😩😩😩
Can you post the links to the apps you use ?
Just added them to the description
Very helpful. Thank you!
John can you do a live situation where like you actually show how long you can run with your iPhone to see if there are any cut outs or lapses cause of playing with intensity and the longevity of a service vs just a review
greg Taylor I do it all the time...I've played two 2-hour services(back to back..4 hours total using nothing but my iPhone or iPad...I have a few videos on this channel that show snippets from services
greg Taylor th-cam.com/video/759qvZgTSWU/w-d-xo.html
Sounds good- would love to hear more. Today's technology gives us incredible tools to create today.
Outstanding! VERY helpful!
That’ll real fly John. Can you do this with a ipadmini4?
Yes
Good Mike. Please how can one make such setup using phones with android OS?
There’s not anything like this available for Android.
@@Johnmike Thank you.
Great vid. Pretty astonishing.
Thanks
Outstanding innovative thinking!
i want to do this with the midi out put on our electric drums at church;
whats a good app for drums, that has a lot of good sound choices?
Check out beathawk...it has some acoustic drum expansions and you can midi map the pads to your drum triggers
Hi! Thank you for your video. Could you please tell what is the sound pack that includes your amazing lead sound?
Kong Module
@@Johnmike Thank you! I was wondering about the viability of your approach but you proved it. I am using now a Korg D1 and a Roland A49, connected to a iPhone running Ravenscroft 275 and Korg module pro. However, that lead sound is not available.
BTW, your phrasing is superb! Congrats!
I'm not getting my iPad to read my keystation 88es.... I'm guessing it's cause of the cheap "camera connection kit" I bought off eBay... it powers it up, but not detecting.... could this be the problem?
Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Thank You So Much for sharing
Thank you brother! Huge help
That’s some sweet playing and a great tech demo!
Thanks!
Can you make the Korg app run two sounds, on two different channels, at the same time?
+Vincent Canter nope...I️ wish tho! That would make it the full package for me
Thanks still learning.
Oh my! Amazing! Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful information, I have iPhone X , question do you have to pay for the apps used?
Now I’m sure you use it on a iPad fire hd ? But this was amazing to watch and so simple you blow my mind
Another question.. where was the duel keyboard stand bought from and how much was it
Yes I paid for all of the apps...links to them all are in the description...and I got it years ago at guitar center...maybe $40-$50? I can’t remember
there steps to get from phone to Qx49 Alesis for audio sounds
Question? So I hooked up my phone directly to the M-Audio ES and couldn't get a sound out of Garage Band or MK Sensation from my phone do I need to have a midi interface to get sound?
Got a question, If I use a larger USB hub, could I hook up more than two keyboards at a time? say at least three or four? also, you seem to have some sounds on your Korg module that I don't see. I've purchased all of the ones available except for Mello Tape Keyboard, how can I get the one you're playing on the M-audio at the beginning of the video, or any extra sounds that may be available.
Yes...in this video I hooked up 4 keyboards...
th-cam.com/video/u3vWRMNM54A/w-d-xo.html
This was incredible!
what's going on bro appreciate you telling me about the Korg sounds, we have a Korg Triton at church , but it seems like the software sounds much cleaner than the hardware love it bro. the click track what is it an how much it costs?plus I have more of the sample tank sounds too.
@JohnMike what patch was that great Moog-y sound you were jamming on your upper keyboard?
Very cool! Thank you!
