If the scans revealed nothing or were blocked, they'd know it was a bluff. If they showed the weapons, they might or might not be real. In any case, good tactical information to have.
The chat between Dukat and Garak no doubt did happen *all over* the Eastern Bloc in its history about types of service and outmaneuvering oneanother for games of political one-ups-man-ship regarding positions of say in governance. Ironic that in the prime example thereof: to be named to the Secretary General's inner circle was a *death-sentence*, yet only a question of "When?" at that: it stands to reason that they'd have learned to keep their heads *down* and to avoid drawing attention to themselves; what with a profoundly paranoid head of state to fear. And ironically, in their case: it'd be actually safer to have to take out an entire *Panther Division* with only a loaded *pistol* than to receive a "Hero of the Soviet Union" medal from the Secretary General himself!

i think what makes ds9 my favourite trek is that its scale is just right. when tng had battles it was common it was just 16 people, when new trek has battles its 1 million cgi effects smashing into eachother. but for ds9 its like 50 people total and a special effects team working hard, end result is a believable battle scale and the perfect amount of star trek cheesyness
*That* IS a business problem; Quark; seeing as you as Rom's boss failed to provide sufficient spare parts for your work crews; you worked yourself over as manager in your business regarding safety.
I can't quite remember the chronology but doesn't Quark have a disruptor that Garak uses in another episode? might be an earlier episode before it got stolen but if not...............
One thing I do not get about the view screens is they can translate languages in real time, we've seen first contacts with another spacefaring spices where both sides communicate and can understand each other. So why does the view screen not translate some things in klinon?
In a later episode Garak admitted to Odo that he considered shooting Dukat in the back -- "It's the safest way" -- but decided he might need him against the invading Klingons.
4:39 - the universal translator seems to have hiccups when translating Klingon. It translates 99% of it perfectly (apparently). Then suddenly starts sucking for no apparent reason. ☮
Gowron's kind of foolish in his terms of insult: Ben Sisko's people are really very well-versed in handling big cats; this's not bigotry at all; and he himself lets slip he's *very* into studying the history of his ethnic group. While I heartily agree with him acting as a real man in several ways; he also should remember in his chats on the events in Las Vegas in 1950s AD USA that it was a whole lot better for his ethnic group than say *1850s AD New Orleans*, there they owned *nothing*, and as his own father would stress to him: they *were owned themselves*; talk about a profoundly abusive situation to live in!
I'm not sure about that. If they really were reverting back to how they were in Kirk's time, that would be a problem for everyone. The Dominion and the Romulans were enough of a headache as it is, but a pre treaty Klingon Empire added into the mix would be too much for the Federation to handle. If the scans revealed nothing or were blocked, they'd know it was a bluff. If they showed the weapons, they might or might not be real. In any case, good tactical information to have.
The funny thing about Quark in this scene is the fact we all know as soon as he saw a Klingon coming towards him he'd run screaming
Odo may well play mind-games with the Klingons in this: including turning himself into fog just to make himself hard to kill! As well as really messing up the invasion by fowling up line of sight in the battle.
The morally dubious characters of this show were the best.
Isn’t a disruptor illegal because it vaporizes victims?
Why didn’t Quark notice the box’s lack of weight.
Bigtruckseriesreview Motorsports or why didn’t Quark check the box before showing it off to Odo? Guess it’s funnier that he didn’t lol
Because of the weight of the paper *lol*
different races call phasers by
different names
Phasers can also vaporize. Dead is dead. What's the difference?
@@andrewblanchard2398 well most races Only use disrupters they only kill they can't be modularted or change frequency for scientific purpose or have also they stun people by "disableing" them which is harsher than a stun
I can see it now. Season 1, just after sisko gets back out of the wormhole for the first time towing dukat. “So miles/major how did you survive 3 those cardassian ships?”.
Response: we bluffed their sensors to think we had 5000torpedoes, full phasers and generator upgrades.
Sisko, taking notes “thank you for the starting point for the shopping list, the first requisition in case of emergencies has just been filed with federation procurement, do let me know if you can think of anything else”.
A few years later we get this scene.
I think Gowron said "Catchup and Mustard" LOL
Robert O'Reilly, who played Gowron, was well known among Star Trek cast, crew and fans for messing up his lines as he found it difficult to speak clearly while wearing Gowron's mask. Therefore, they almost always simply ended up using the take in which he said his lines the best.
I expect nothing less than an entire opera about it LOL
The sacrifices that I endured in defense of Kardasia!
i think what makes ds9 my favourite trek is that its scale is just right. when tng had battles it was common it was just 16 people, when new trek has battles its 1 million cgi effects smashing into eachother. but for ds9 its like 50 people total and a special effects team working hard, end result is a believable battle scale and the perfect amount of star trek cheesyness
*That* IS a business problem; Quark; seeing as you as Rom's boss failed to provide sufficient spare parts for your work crews; you worked yourself over as manager in your business regarding safety.
With What!? .laughed till I have tears.
I wish there was a Odo & Quark series.
Are those Klingons REALLY dumb enough to test The Sisko?
This is Gowron, the Man with the Eyes. He relishes the test.
Dude, it's crazy eyes gowron. He'd attack the entire borg collective and laugh while he does.
We're dealing with mostly GenZ klingons here 😂
lol rom saved the galaxy.
Universal translator not working at the end of the clip?
They all have Universal translators. But apparently they don't work when the bad guy needs to sound cool
Always confused me why the "universal translator" didn't translate _specific_ Klingon phrases that then needed to be translated by a character...
History may be written by the victors but it also written by the bystanders.
Am I imagining things or was the sequence with Quark slightly sped up?
Cpt. Sisko was the epitome of FAFO
I always wondered why the universal translator didn't translate Gowron's last line...
Guards down the end of corridor without any cover. It's like shooting fish in a barrel.
Chegh chew....jaj VAM jaj KAK!
Just remember when you are firing that thing you are aiming it at a Klingon,,, I will try to keep that in mind
In a later episode Garak admitted to Odo that he considered shooting Dukat in the back -- "It's the safest way" -- but decided he might need him against the invading Klingons.
That works for me as well if I have to use my gun in a fight @@danieldickson8591
Couldn't you use the repaired replicator to make a new disruptor?
Clearly the universal translator is operated by a foot pedal, and Gowron's foot slipped there at the end. Must be those clunky Klingon boots.
Was Martok a changeling at this point?
4:39 - the universal translator seems to have hiccups when translating Klingon.
It translates 99% of it perfectly (apparently).
Then suddenly starts sucking for no apparent reason.
☮
“History is written by the victor” exactly!
Why do the universal translators turn off sometimes for Klingons lmao
They don’t . Some words simply don’t translate
Better dust off the D7s
Better start building a fleet of Defiants
If anyone has a deep arsenal and bloated defense budget, I'd bet on the Klingons.
1:28 lol
Looking back Gowron was right, They would of been safer with the klingons in control of cardassia.
I'm not sure about that. If they really were reverting back to how they were in Kirk's time, that would be a problem for everyone. The Dominion and the Romulans were enough of a headache as it is, but a pre treaty Klingon Empire added into the mix would be too much for the Federation to handle.
I think the galaxy should be thankful that in the midst of all this chaos, the Borg decided to stay out of it.
