No cleaning was needed.....only a new harddrive case and SSD harddrive and i need to buy a Controller 😂

Former 360E owner here. I dont know what kind of psychopath thought it was a good idea to make a 360 ON THE XBOX ONE RELEASE but its still a very good console, had so much memories with it. For anyone wondering, I gave it to my cousin after his 360 S broke.

Just relaying something that helped me with the x-clamp, there are automobile trim removal tools that has one particular tool that works perfectly for the clamp, you will recognize it if you've seen the actual x-clamp tool, basically identical.

This worked really well i didn't have any thermal paste sadly but it worked my xbox isn't exploding so yay.
You should seriously consider getting some thermal paste if you haven’t already

My 360E won't fully turn on, it just flashes red and runs the fan for a second before powering off. Do you have a fix for this?
That’s most probably an RROD issue, Red Ring of Death. This is usually repaired by reballing the CPU but cannot be done at home without professional tools
Awhile back my 360 red ringed would cleaning it out make a difference?

Honestly to clean the motherboard could I just use a new soft brush toothbrush dipped in 99% iso?
Yes, that would be totally fine
Would 91 % isopropyl alcohol with a q tip be fine to clean the motherboard
For removing old thermal compound yes, for cleaning the whole motherboard, I wouldn’t do that
I have 99.9% minimum stuff so I use that to clean round the motherboard
never even heard of a torx 8 wrench until now
They made three different versions what’s the difference between this one and the other two versions Or are they all basically the same
There are some revisions regarding CPU, newer versions have smaller CPU, in terms of opening and cleaning they’re basically the same. In terms of performance the newer, the better

Do you have any recommendations for the thermal paste also how coated should the cpu be? Like can any thermal paste be used or is there a specific one that’s best or needed?
A thin layer should be enough, there's no need for too much. They're all pretty much the same, it's not a big difference between them

having an issue with my xbox 360 E where the console turns on and then almost immedietly shuts off but with no flashing indicators on the power supply, sometimes the power supply light goes off and you can hear the sound of a fan start spinning
Have you tried with a different power supply?

Hey man at 1:39 what’s the best and easiest way to open it without breaking the clips. Without the pry tool you use what would be the best replacement

You missed something when you assembled it... try to reassemble it correctly by following the video. The cleaning process can not damage the console unless it's assembled incorrectly
I gotta issue mine would keep having the tray opening and closing and this the first problem all my life 😭
Change the rubber that opens and closes the tray. Or if it looks good, boil the rubber in some hot water for about 10 minutes and it will shrink a little. The stretching over the years is what is causing it to not open and close properly

Mine has that issue too and what you have to do is give a little push (not to hard) when pressing A to close tray

As far as I understand, your XBox din’t turn on. Cleaning has nothing to do with hardware failure, the cleaning is supposed to make it work better as long as the console is fully working. Did your XBox turn on before the cleaning?

Cleaning can help because without it, hardware components can be in thermal throttling, so the Xbox doesn't run at its full capacity, then you may experience stuttering

It’s either a faulty Power Supply or the Console itself. If the PSU is working properly then most probably the Console needs reballing

My X360 was not loud but bit old so decided to sent it for service (thermal paste and cleaning). Console service guy put new thermal paste and gave it a clean but when it arrived back I hear very annoying loud noise when console is on. Thermal Paste is measured in watts per meter-Kelvin, that specifies the rate of the heat transfer. W/mK
The more W/mK the thermal paste has, the better conductivity and heat transfer, the better results. Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut has 12.5 W/mK while Arctic MX-5 has 6 W/mK. So at least in theory, Grizzly Kryonaut should be a lot better. There is thermal paste with only 2.5 W/mK out there.
In your case I wouldn't be worried at this point, because out of service there shouldn't be any big difference between a poor thermal paste and a great thermal paste. The difference should be seen during the time.
It's quite hard to tell what cause the noise, maybe there's dust in the cooler fan, maybe if it was not cleaned carefully, is not centered anymore.

It took me a while to find the right angle to push and the disk tray to come out, but it should definitely come out easily and not forced

All of my Xbox games all crashes, For no reason; I've wiped them off with soft cloth, restarted the xbox itself, but I still get the "unreadable disk" error. So, I came here as a last resort; but if it isn't the console can someone give my a suggestion what could it be?
Cleaning will not help the optical unit

I have the same xbox 360 you have and it has a issue where it turns off right away and something it says on for at least an hour or 2 and it overheats is there a way I can easily fix it

@@YesterdaysTech well I did clean the vents and when I let it cool for awhile it still turned off right away and sometimes when I turn it on it'll stay on for at least for an hour then turns off

It’s not the power supply. Have you only cleaned the vents? Did you replace the thermal paste? In what game it turns off?

Hey dude, i have a question, my xbox360 E stopped working all of a sudden, do you think it would start working again if i cleaned it? I've had it for about 10 years and i never cleaned it, it's really dusty and full of dirt inside, do you think it would work again if i cleaned it?
Edit: By the way, my xbox is turning on, but it's not turning on or launching on the TV, i tried using different HDMI cables and connecting to different TVS, but the xbox is still not getting launched even though the green power light on the console and that power box is appearing, i love this Xbox, please help
If it doesn't show signal on TV, the cleaning won't help. Most probably it needs repair
@@YesterdaysTech alright, I've got another question. Would it work if i bought the exact same xbox360 E. But i removed the hard drive and replace it with the old xbox360's hard-drive? Would all the data,achievements and games get transferred to the other xbox if i do that?
Usually achievements and such things are saved online. If so, there is no problem, you just need to log in. If you never logged in on your previous XBOX, I don't think everything will be moved to your new console
@@YesterdaysTech Well, problem is that we have a problem with our xbox so we don't have xboxlive. But I'm pretty sure there must be an error since my brother played it just about 2 hours before we found out it didn't work anymore and everything was normal, there was no overheat and that red ring of death didn't appear. I made a lot of progress in several games and i don't want all of the progress to be erased. Also, y'know the screen you can open on TV to check if your xbox is JTAG or the other thing (forgot the name)? I remember checking that by pressing disk button under the power button on the console, but even so there appears to be no signal. Is there a chance that the problem is in the HDMI insert button?

Don't take out the heatsink screws to remove the board...wtf..anyone not thermal pasting skip that step and unscrew the fan and clean it instead.

There are two different versions of XBox 360 E but the teardown process is the same
Is this a Crona Or Winchester unit?
There is no difference between them in terms of disassembly, the only difference is the motherboard on the newer model has a smaller CPU

Why is it actually good to clean xbox 360?
Makes it last a lot longer, much more quiet and you won’t have overheating problems in games
