Great to see the TRUE legend of Indian cricket. Bowler, captain, umpire, and what not. I remember those days I used to watch venkat play in league cricket and Ranji Trophy. He was brilliant as a captain.
One of my evergreen hero & my Godfather. Late seventies,, Venkat playing for India Pistons 1st division league in TNCA, I'm Scorer Mani for the team. On those days, 1st league match is just like I.P.L. Madras croud also coming & watching. That time are Golden days in Chennai Cricket 🏏. His wife Ranjini also great human being. Adyan chetha puniym, doing under his captain. What a gem. I can't control my emotions. TKS 4 bring Old memory.
So Clear and precise in his thinking. Nostalgic. Seen several matches especially Ranji matches between TN and Karnataka when he gave his best. Real legend
Venkataraghavan was an exceptional total package elite cricketer of 1970's as Bat + Bowl + Field + Captain + Coach + Umpire + ....... In 2024,his love for game and giving back to game stands very very tall and will stay unmatched, it seems. May God bless Venkat with healthy, happy days ahead. Cheers.
Venkatraghvan will always be remembered for two great catch he took in England 1971 .John Edrich caught by Venkat in slips , it was a sharp catch as Venkat had to vertically squat and hold the catch around his ankle . This was at Lords 1971. Second best catch was Brain Luckhurst caught in slips , it was a hard cut shot but Venkat had fingers like octopus tentacles and he held it at ease . The ball that clean bowled England wicket keeper Alan knott at Old Trafford 1971 is still fresh as if it happened yesterday. My salute to Venkat ji for his great performance in cricket . Still got photo Venkat along with Presdent APJ Abdul Kalam receiving his prestigious award . I am from Mumbai.
I proud to say, in. TNCA. League first division match venket as a skipper for India pistons I'm his team scorer, very authentic & knowledge person. One thing I can say I'm lucky person. Venket is my Hero for my entire life. Venket wiife Mam Renjini also kind women.
@SankarSubramanian-if9yb Thanks for your inputs Subramanian ji . So nice to know your close association with the great Indian cricketer Venkat . Thanks for sharing.
Shri.venkat ragavan is regarded great umpire, his decision is very accurate and all international players respect his decision. His quick and flash decision is famous from cricket community.
I still remember the way John Reid got out to venkat. John Reid lofted him and the fielder dropped a sitter. Reid changed his bat, as if it was because of the bat.... next ball he was bowled!
Venkatraghvan was the umpire along with steve Bucknor to declare West Indies pitch below standard at score 17 for 3 in just 10.1 overs . England vs West Indies , played at Jamaica 29th Jan 1998 . Venkat had courage to take that decision and the match refree Barry Jarman was very much convinced. The pitch had cracks all over and unsafe to play, the match was stopped and called off . Only time in cricket history such decision was taken . Play only happened for 56 min . Bravo Venkat ji super confidence.
We have seen Venkat Ji in Best Table Tennis in Guindy Spic building During Lunch Hours. Class in that game too. An inspiring person to face challenges in life. Nice Discussion and happy to hear his cricket life. God Bless him All Happiness 🙏🙏🙏
Intelligent Cricketer. A mature statesman, a man of conviction and class. His performance figures do not reflect his true genius. It can be said that it was his unflagging length and accuracy made the other three reap wickets at the other end.
Venkat was a brilliant cricketer and a wise captain. He was held in high esteem by no less a person than Sir Garry Sobers himself. He was one of the quartet of brilliant fielders of that time - the others being Eknath Solkar, Abid Ali and Ajit Wadekar.
I have been following Venkataraghavan all the way from late 1960s. Is there any way I can get in touch with him thru e-mail or phone. I wish to meet him
We have watched your Ranji matches by paying 50 paise for ticket During our childhood we use to watch first class cricket with 50 paise and then by 4 o'clock we used to go to children's theatre by buying a ticket for 12 paise ( 2 Anna's for children and 4 Anna's for adults- movie ticket) Present day kalivanar arangam was children's theatre Next to Kalivanar arangam we used to go to Annapurana cafeteria have masaka dosai and a sweet ( 1/2 the size ) for 35 paise both put together With one rupee - 1 first class cricket match 2 movie and 3 resutrant Our children / grand children will be surprised to hear

Horrible background music, unnecessary for interview. Rare interview from f One of the greatest indian cricket legend. Please upload again without background music.
Happy to see Venkat sir in fit condition still. I had a great opportunity to play table tennis in Spic building during lunch time. I used to travel together with him in lift. Was,always pleasant to see him bowling and taking return catch and running like a horse in the outer field chasing ball and picking up before reaching boundary Of all, ge had an inimitable long hair style and combing with hand before bowling was a beauty
sorry, he was a slow runner. his chasing the ball, though on rare occasions was not as energytic as that of Roger Binny, Kapildev or Madanlal. No doubt he was a great clos-in fielder with a strike rate of 90% for catches. Solkar had a strike rate of 95% and Azhar had 98%. If I remember it correct, Azhar had missed just one simple sitter, Solkar about 2 or 3 and Venkat has just dropped 3 catches. But the greatness of Venkat is he makes the catch look simple after firmly grabbing the ball.infact, they were half chances only.
when he worked for EID Parry, he used to be in Hari nivas, parry's corner every day between 1 and 1.30. He used to relish its Thayir vadai, Mysore bonda and rava dosa
@@lakshminarayanprasanna3657 Dear Bro, the matches I saw when he played were found tl be exxellent. That is what I meant. Moreso, I used to see him playing in marina, beach ground. Match wrapping up Master Thanks
When was this interview taken ? It is not a recent one and must be a few years ago when Kohli was the captain and Bhuvanesh Kumar was perhaps playing more regularly for India.
He used to be very harsh with words when captaining state teams,if a catch is dropped, fielder will get asked which pro***tute he visited over night,,everyone knows he was a fantastic bowler, many knew him to be a great fielder and a proper bat,,he could have been a great captain too if rest of team co operated but then those days Indian team esp west and north players moved in groups,,Pataudi was first captain to take this culture head on and succeeded,Venkat sadly paid a price for it.
Is this interview very old? Remember seeing Venkat in another picture in which he looked much aged. No disrespect to Venki. I am much older by age and much lower in cricket knowledge.

Venkat Sir..We are with you.
Lovely interview. I guess this interview has been given 2 to 3 years back . Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Such a nice programme but the background music is killing....
Crystal clear visionary of cricket and its rules. yes please do not play the background music. it is diverting attention of the interviewed telecast.
The background music shows that star sports doesn't have any legend journalists but only half-baked ones.
I have been following Venkataraghavan all the way from late 1960s. Is there any way I can get in touch with him thru e-mail or phone. I wish to meet him
He was very strict in field. If anybody misses catch or anything he would shout in anger. Srikanth was aware of that.
Very nice interview....
Why BGM during the interview. Not able to hear properly. These things to be observed and avoid in future. BGM is affecting the programme very much.
One of the most honest umpires in one day cricket.
Can we meet you venkat sir. Will you permit it please atleast telephonic bless pl.
Back ground music causing disturbing
Awesome
Audio and lighting could have been better. BGM was irritating, was that necessary. Otherwise a good interview with former legend from TN.
Background music is disturbing his speech
2018 interview so they are playing the bgm for nostalgia, i guess
Once sober's famous words is give me venkat , I will win against any team in the world.
We have watched your Ranji matches by paying 50 paise for ticket
During our childhood we use to watch first class cricket with 50 paise and then by 4 o'clock we used to go to children's theatre by buying a ticket for 12 paise ( 2 Anna's for children and 4 Anna's for adults- movie ticket)
Present day kalivanar arangam was children's theatre
Next to Kalivanar arangam we used to go to Annapurana cafeteria have masaka dosai and a sweet ( 1/2 the size ) for 35 paise both put together
With one rupee - 1 first class cricket match
2 movie and
3 resutrant
Our children / grand children will be surprised to hear

Background music made the interview lousy.
Venkat sir thoughts was really superb. But background music spoiled the whole interview.
Request you to kindly upload this rare and precious interview after deleting the background music. Unable to enjoy.
Un necessary back ground music 😮
I saw u playing for jolly rovers at Marina CG.
When you are doing an interview, why the background music?
Music disturbs , their chatting....
When good interview is going, who needs that bloddy background music. Really it's irritating.
He started very well as an Ump but fell away quickly & one couldn't get rid of him soon enough! 😄
Background music disturbing the interview
The background music is over powering the interview.
The inappropriate BGM - Back Ground Music, is spoiling the hearing of this fine interview.
Sees the interview is an old one. They were talking about the previous world cup in 2019?
When was this interview taken ? It is not a recent one and must be a few years ago when Kohli was the captain and Bhuvanesh Kumar was perhaps playing more regularly for India.
The background music prevents hearing what the legend says. Please remove the BGM immediately for God's sake.
Background music was just nothing but a noise disturbing a lively talk show

When was this interview taken
Wanted to listen to the legend S.Venkatraghavan Sir. However the background music was so annoying forcing me to call off watching the channel midway.
This video is a lesson in how a great interview can be spoiled with an unnecessary background music. 😡
Kindly remove the background music and reload the interview
Not clear the audio is
Thanks
Give me Venkat, I ll beat the world... Sobers
Background music seems to be a big nuisance. Please avoid in future
Music should be kept out during the interview - it’s really annoying
Background music is irritating never seen music running through the interview
BGM is disturbing
Music is so irritating and unable to hear him .....
Please remove the background music as it spoils the core objective of the interview and the purpose
Reproduce & Replay the video with out background Music ?(Noise)
why the hell the behind music man?
Is it compulsory to have this disturbing background music???
Background music spoiling the conversation
ஏன் ஐயா இந்த பின்னனி ஒழுங்காக கேட்கவில்லை
Background music is disturbing and we cannot clearly understand what they are talking.
Why background music. Annoying
backround music noise is irritating which fool has given the idea of backround music
Sound is very poor
Is this interview very old? Remember seeing Venkat in another picture in which he looked much aged.
No disrespect to Venki. I am much older by age and much lower in cricket knowledge.
