One of the most beautiful batsman to watch. Such elegance, such timing! I remember his first innings, I was in college back then. I was like "WOW" after watching his shots. Wish he could play longer for India.

Exactly, he was removed just because he dont have footwork. But, i always enjoyed his game. And love to see how he irritates bolwers with his smooth shots. 😂😂

Some cricketer lovers talk about tendulakar and compare him with Virat but in nineties bowlers are great and moreover nowadays rule is in favours of batsmen eg more field restriction and old ball not available

@@zubairrasool8764Bhai 1 of our greatest test batsmen "Sehwag" also had almost zero footwork, iska matlab ye nahi ki acha aur classic player nai tha

S Ramesh was too elegant in shot making with only one problem of being susceptible against good bowling in swinging conditions.Had he got that ability to survive against quality bowling he could have played 50 tests and more than 100 ODIs❤

Sweet timing with elegance! Rare nowadays to find batsmen who just rely on timing than power hitting. Cricket was cricket in those days...

Almost every stroke had the signature, "lazy elegance". Unfortunately he never looked stable against quality fast bowling in swinging and seaming conditions. Always rooted for him though.. perhaps like Azhar he could have had a successful career in spite of a loose technique against seam and swing. But not as an opener, surely.

He played quickest and the greatest like wasim akram and shaib akthar, but lack of footwork, inconsistency were the reasons why this brave batsman couldnt make it long in the indian team...

Sehwag doesn't move his foot at all. Footwork is the most overrated in cricket.
The less we move the feet, the more time we get.

He refused to go to South Africa tour in 2001... selectors thought he was afraid to face pace bowling...after that they never call him...

    • @venuturupallimurthy

He was injured but Dada at that time thought he made an excuse trying to avoid South Africa tour. He was selected for Australia tour in 2003-04 wherein he played only tour matches but did well in those matches.

He was not only a batter with a loose technique, but was also even a Below Par Gully Cricketer.
Even How did his Selection Occured ? Perhaps some of the Selectors favoured him Unfairly.
In that Era many & many Cricketers were available(for selection) with the Class of V.Sehwag,Sourav Ganguly,Rinku Singh....etc.
It was very Injustice to the Non-- selected Cricketers.

new ball no swing - lazy elegance helped. old ball, wasim swinged, lazy elegance quietly left for the stands. Some luck for sure. Wasn't Ramesh the guy with the least sixes in his career or something ?

we must have been very short of good opening batsman back then to give Ramesh the opening slot 😂…this guy had absolutely no footwork. Just used to stand there and poke his bat around. I mean even Sehwag used to go on the back foot to pull and cut or sometimes move on to the front foot. But this guy was just a statue at the crease. No wonder he was sussed out quickly by opponents and couldn’t have a long career

No genuine fast bowler would mind a few wafted boundaries with such loose technique. A matter of time before one is edged or played on...
