I personally don't consider the Weber thinner. While it has more high end in the given settings it sounds noticeably more detailed than the RI and the high/low balance could be adjusted from the controls. The RI sounds a bit duller. They have different speakers so it's not a fair comparison of the amp alone but given the clips that's what I think.
The Fender reissue sounds like a mud fart. The amp you made has a bright clean & chimey tone. I would like to hear them both over driven without pedals.
Just got a Reissue love the tone. The Weber is very good on it's own but when compared to the Fender is thinner. But then building it right was a good job.
Great sounding amps, but original one; it´s bigger, more tridimensional sounding, more deeper. The clon is thight sounding, perhaps of the speaker. I Love make amp kits so! Congrats for your beautiful build.
i've owned dozens of tube amps, and based off this quick demo I'd say the Weber is better. you can't get back Detail and purity of your pickups through adding more treble EQ without compromises. the weber is more detailed in the high end and this is , in my opinion what people who have searched for decades are looking for. it sounds closer to the vintage amps
I think the vintage tubes are pushing the lower mids more than the Weber, and compress more. Are they biased a little hotter in the Fender? Sounds like it!
Both sound beautiful! Almost like an acoustic guitar!
The Weber is brighter sounding to me but the age of the speaker and number of hours on it makes a difference too.

Wow the Weber sounds so much better
Once you hit the bright switch, I couldn’t tell them apart. With the bright switch off, the mids were dominate on the clone.

Well, here's the Weber overdriven without pedals: th-cam.com/video/VYFfcxYecB4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=z1cR4gbE1LPobm2q
Great Job ! The Weber sounds great and will also win the durability test if taken on the road.
Thanks. Can't go wrong with eyelet board and big honking through-hole components.
Both sound great. Really nice job on the comparisons!
Thanks!

I agree -- the Weber does sound thinner in this video.

Thanks for your comment.

I agree, and I think the main difference is the speaker. Weber makes a great speaker.

Yeah, there are a lot of variables. The vintage 6V6s are 12W while the power tubes in the Weber are JJs, which are 14W and will not break up as early.
The Fender sounds fuller. Does yours have a reverb setting that would allow it to sound closer to the Fender?
Yours sounds good tho’!
Yes, there may be a bit more reverb on the Fender, although the settings were technically the same.
I like the Fender as well…
i prefer the weber
