OMG!!! I don't take stats until my spring semester and God-willing, I will be very prepared for the class that everyone hates. I'm loving learning it so far. As usual, you are the best.
Thanks man! I think your videos are awesome. I am working through a Statistics class online and in the first week we've had a million equations thrown at us. Your videos are easy to follow, and your explanations are great.
Gentlemen what can I help you Just post it I will do so if it’s on my hand …. You deserve the most respect things in this world and in hereafter. Thankful Of Eritrea 🇪🇷
Am i the only one who saw it to be related to centre of mass? At first i felt m.x should be a special named quantity, bcz well lets say two pt masses m1 and m2 move towards each other by distances d1 and d2. Then, if m1d1>m2d2: The com will shift in the direction m1 moves If m2d2>m1d1: The com will shift in the direction m2 moves If m1d1=m2d2: The com will not shift at all despite both the bodies moving So m times x holds a deep significance indeed, and should have been a special physical quantity with a special name, but there is no physical quantity with dimension M1L1T0 Then my thoughts shifted to weighted mean. Bingo. Com is the weighted mean of masses over distance. I guess this is the origin of the term "weighted" mean.
At 2:50 when you calculate the weighed mean, isn't this exactly the same thing as the normal average you just calculated? I don't see the difference between these two formulas? I think in essence they tell you exactly the same thing every time? So why do you show this as if it's a coincidende that these two formulas result in the same outcome here? They were always going to be the same, no matter what example or data-set you were going to use. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.
For problem #4 the average for John was 83.2 and I looked this video up cause I was having trouble figuring it out and when I do my problem the results are 83.2😂 what a coincidence
How he get the 83.2, please recheck your calculation. cause i got the same problem too (i used my phone by the way). 0.15(92) + 0.10(74) + 0.20(83) + 0.25(76) + 0.30(88) = 83.2 Thank you

arithmetic mean is the average for a sample /population. weighted mean is the mean of a data set where each value does not hold the same relative importance ( or weight)
A random sample of 10 packets was taken and found to have a mean weight of 40 grams and a standard deviation of 9 grams. What is the mean weight of the population
In problem three there is an error. The problem is the average weight of the students at a college. Then the problem ends for the weight of a high school.
no weighted mean is associated to some sort of frequency or percentage, so directly adding them up and dividing by the total wont give you the correct answer. you have to multiply all the weighted percents/frequency with the values given then divide by the sum of the weighted percents/frequency.
by this time you may have understood but, it is because that's the weight (w) and X are the numbers we have to multiply with to get their WEIGHTED mean wx+wx+wx "the points" or X will be of no importance we don't multiply them with the weights, or hours; calculating the weighted mean hope that makes sense.

Care to explain more about that concentration problem?
Yea, didn't really understand how the 15 gallon was connected to predict whether the resulting concentration would be closer to a certain percentage.
forget statistic and use your common sense.

In the weighted mean how to calculate nth root and log?
I was late during the discussion of this topic, now I need to self study 🤧
How can one easily identify the difference between the weight and the the 'X' value in finding average mean in a question?
Well, as he said, the weight will nearly always be in the form of a percentage or frequency, so the “x” will just be the other value.
