- Aptly named ‘The Peter Pan of Pop’, music legend Sir Cliff Richard will be joining us in the studio to celebrate a whopping 65 years in the business! Retirement is certainly not on the cards for Sir Cliff just yet, as he is currently celebrating the release of his new album, ‘Cliff with Strings’, new book, ‘A Head Full of Music’ and is even going on tour later this year. This year has been a chance for Sir Cliff to reflect on his career, particularly remembering those early days, where his love for music was first ignited by none other than the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley. Our Gloria is particularly excited for today’s guest, as Cliff is one of her oldest friends; the pair will be speaking about how their friendship has stood the test of time, and looking back on Cliff’s glittering eight decades in entertainment.

The Shadows were the absolute most beautiful guitars I have ever heard. I was 14 and I heard them on BBC World Service one night. That changed my life forever. They inspired me to make music. I've made many albums thanks to Cliff Richard and his beautiful guitar. Bravo!

It goes on, he wanted to change his name to Eric Mason, but his management company persuaded him to change Richard to Richards, and Cliff to Cliffy . As it stands he now goes by the name Cliffy Richards. The article goes on, however as print and online media seemingly either refused to call him Cliffy Richards, or simply forgot, despite threats of lawsuits, it would appear the name change was a lost cause. Television and radio presenters now have a Cliff protocol, in which they are reminded to call him Cliffy Richards, or face consequences. It goes on, once at a Cliff at Christmas event in York, radio presenter Dan Moon greeted Mr Richards and called him Cliff. Mr Richards, who appeared in absolute shock look stunned at Mr Moon and asked him if "he'd been spoken to" before the show", and refused to answer any questions, instead storming off in a huff and demanding compensation from the radio station , for "Mis naming him" on purpose. James Letby former editor In chief for the Letby Times said, "It was all done (meaning the name change) as to cause confusion, and to be able to pull the "miss naming card", at any given time, and with any organisation! It's ridiculous in my mind that calling a person by a slightly different name as in this case can , and most likely will, with Mr Richards, result in a £20,000 fine, which I understand has been paid out more than 57 times now. It's clearly a clever way for Mr Richards, and his management team to raise funds. A source close to the BBC stated, when he's around (meaning Mr Richards) people get very worried about how to greet him, most staff will just shy away. He went on, I think it's a sad state of affairs really, I mean if you have had a stage name since the 1950's and then change it nearly 70 year's later with very little publicity it's going to be hard to ensure everyone is up to speed with things. I personally think it's a case of, "check the small print" , which unfortunately many of us just don't do, and in this case that will cost you £20,000. He went on, I'd rather just stay clear, and wouldn't take the risk of letting him on a show, because it's very likely that the mis naming card will be played in order to "raise funds". So, I read this and copied it directly from an online source, is it true? I have no idea
Don't often comment on TH-cam, but Cliff Richard is truly a legend, and for me, I will be introducing his films and his music to my children and to my grandchildren....

Best live show I ever went to was one of his gigs at the Brighton Centre back in the eighties. Absolute professional, brilliant band, amazing backing singers. Cliff was brilliant. A truly great showman! The guy has had to deal with so much in his life and he’s come through it with flying colours.

I have always thought Sir Cliff Richard a rather creepy and preening narcissist, obsessed with his chart success and his place in British rock history. In his eyes, that place is front and centre. In reality, British rock music died the very moment Sir Cliff started crooning his sanitised and whitewashed version of it.

Anyone can accuse anyone, especially a celebrity, of something like that and people will jump on board-even if only for a payout.
