  • In 2007, Joe Dante launched the web series Trailers from Hell (www.trailersfro...), featuring commentary on trailers by filmmakers. In this installment, Dante discusses the fan following of The Night Walker (1964), written by Psycho author Robert Bloch, and the horror film’s role in Castle’s prolific career.
Dante, who got his start cutting trailers for Roger Corman, directed such features as Gremlins, Innerspace, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Matinee and Small Soldiers.

I think this film is terribly underrated. BS’s scream is blood curdling, the music is addictive, and the villain is terrifying. Watching the trailer really doesn’t convey the feeling of the film. I paid $60 for a sealed VHS tape of this gem.

I saw the trailer in the early 70s, when our local TV station showed movies on Friday Night (instead of The Brady Bunch!) The trailer terrified me, I didn't watch the movie! Decades later, Svengoolie showed "The Night Walker," and I sat down happily to watch. I'd had a long work week and I fell asleep during the movie's opening credits! I am a writer and Bloch and Castle are still inspirations to me! Thanks for the video! ----mike

The movie finally saw release on BluRay. Well worth getting. Also if you are into movie soundtracks, the music also is commercially available, but may be a bit harder to find.

This is a great movie. I'll stickl my neck out here and say the house interior of this movie is the same set used for Whatever Happened to Baby Jane.

For some reason that music sounded a bit like the soundtrack from Oliver!
