I own a manual 6 speed Golf R and have driven my friends Type R a few times. My thoughts on comparing the 2. The Golf R feels faster HOWEVER The Type r is way more race/track focused. Harder suspension, firmer steering, more feedback on steering, better clutch and transmission feel, mechanical LSD.... Basically feels more raw and more engaging. Seating position is more race car feel, and seats are superb. Really love this car. However id pick the Golf R if its just for daily use as i found the Golf R a bit easier to live with ie. softer ride, easier to get in and out of cabin. Better if you have kids or family. Golf R feels a bit lighter, faster to me also, especial if you go stage one APR, gives the engine a lot more torque and better power delivery. The only other reason id pick the Golf R is if you live in a country where it snows or rains a lot as i found with the Type R when you put the power down in the wet it loses a lot of traction when you push it hard even in a straight line because of its FWD system. . Golf R is more planted in these conditions and imo safer.. If i could have both the Type R would definitely be my dry weather back roads/track car and the Golf my daily. or when conditions are bad
I've had my Type R for 2 years now. Once it shredded the OEM tires I fitted 255/35 R20 Kumo. No more spinning when launching anymore. I get a little chubby when I drive it now. What an awesome car...
The scoop on the hood is for aero. It takes pressure from top of the hood and pipes it out of the openings of the front fenders reducing lift and adding downforce.
Honda should have made the Type R with Si body style. More of a sleeper then but current buyers would not buy it. Bet more introverted buyers sure would.
i dont think so ....it was done in the past ,my ek 3 can look like an ek9 most would take that is an inconvenient fact also that others will mistake my performance as a type r 's with this that wont happen .
Sad to see Japan really giving up with sports car life and move to economy car. Maybe one day they will return to form. (PS I do realize that Japan still has some big hitters but still)
50,000 Australian dollars compared to 35,000 US dollars is the difference. Plus we get 320 hp but I'm not sure that would make any difference to the price.
I'm not so sure about that and Honda made sure not to have a ricer exhaust either. The vortex generators work, the spoiler is designed to provide 23 foot pounds of downforce at 130 miles an hour. You just don't know anything about cars and you're looking purely at aesthetics.
That opinion is subjective. I own the car and I've gotten a ton of compliments on its appearance. For every one person who dislikes the way it looks, there's at least 25 who love it.
This lol bodykit is way more useful than the ugly fade focus rs design ! This is why the ford can't even follow the CTR on track ! And more, focus rs will be a piece of dead metal after 30000 kilometers ! So don't make us laugh like that please !

Scoop is to help negate lift, the upper vent is to feed the engine, the bottom is for the inter cooler.
I've had the car at 140 mph and 150 mph on tight corners and it was glued. All of those aerodynamics work very well to create the down force

First and foremost, it's on a handful of cars therefore it's not considered an issue. I own the 2018 type-r and there are no grinding issues.
