shocked to say it but i think pro q 4 has a better spectral dynamic eq than soothe 2. Can only see myself using soothe for taming extreme resonances now, for general smoothing though proq4 is so much cleaner. think i might null test and see if soothe produces more artifacts, im expecting so.
If you want it even tighter and controlled then its best to use 1x oversampling (not 4x) a la Jaycen Joshua. A common misconception is that the highest oversampling is always the best choice. It actually isn't always, esp. with regards to short transients.
This is a ad video not a tuttorial. After a few days passed the release of q4, which now can do the same. Btw i am a soothe and bloom owner. And a q4 owner
Yea but a PRO says if I wack this bad boy on every track, bus & master, I'll sound like a BOSS?!! Surely he must be right, and he hasn't paid for his new double-ended dildo to masage inner pronoun by making dollar from the latest resonance suppression vst supplier?! If he just said it. I'd accept it. Because each to thier own.
But that’s how these mix engineers make bread. He gives a lot of sauce away to us for free and as long as he believes in what he’s selling to us, and not tryna sell BS to people for money then I don’t have an issue with it tbh. Guys a solid teacher and some people will defo learn from this in some form
q4 sounds significantly more broken in terms of the spectral eq then soothe. I do like the q4 spectral in the low mids, but anything above 800 it just sounds broken and bad. Soothe still has the best sounding spectral algorithm ive heard
Very good tip ! However I know I can quickly fall into sidechaing the snare to all tracks in the mid/high mid and the vocals as well aha I guess balance is key
@matthieubarbemusique I already have Soothe 2 and I just bought the Pro Q4 this week. Soothe 2 is in a lane all by itself. It has a different smoothing sound than the Pro Q4. I can hear the difference. I just use them both. They are both valuable tools.
I prefer Soothe 2 and actually prefer Pro q 3 even though I have pro q 4. I prefer giving each plugin separate assigments to focus on, just like prefer using the Fab Filter MB compressor to using the Pro q Dynamic compression, though I"ll use the pro q on occasion.
@@Chiselchip The biggest change is the "Spectral Dynamics Mode" which, rather than dynamically control an EQ band (which was possible in Pro-Q 3), it dynamically controls resonances within the EQ band, similarly to Soothe. There are other new features unrelated to the tip presented in this video, but you can easily find them in other videos.
It’s like track spacer only wayyyy more expensive Oh yeah, and pro q 4 can do that…and Kirchhoff eq….and waves f6….and many more…..but track spacer is $29
So it's sidechaining but is using Sooth 2 doing something different than let's say Trackspacer, Fuser or any plugin that's ducking with the kick at the proper frequencies?
Soothe is a dynamic eq so it's a bit different to a traditional compressor, but you can use any dynamic EQ with a sidechain input to achieve similar effects. Soothe is just really good at this particular task.
On every channel?) Better just send every needed track on 1 bus and than add soothe on it, just like another for all reverb/delay stuff to manage the background noise floor. And the main point - can soothe lookahead? if it's not, better bounce the kick track, move it a little back and than use this track for sidechain signal, so any compressor(or soothe) will dip down Before kick come in. I am sure, that Streaky nows all of this, just incase someone will lost themself in the process )
An artist can understand soothe and all spectral eq are garbage and not musical. You shouldnt use it on harshness or hiss or any problem. Resault will be a clean but you destroys all of emotions and bells. Just reduce problem with a dynamic eq with narrow bell like fab q3. After 2 years i will say it Gullfos Soothe Pro q4 And every plugin like this are garbage. This is just my opinion.
I've found Soothe 2 to do something very different, though I don't care for the Pro q 4. I prefer Pro q 3. They got it right. I also only use soothe when needed. Sometimes even Pro q 3 isn't might eq choice, there are no rules, whatever gets the best results for you. I agree that relying on any of these so called miracle worker marketed plugins doesn't always work. I use sooth 2 very conservatively or not at all. Pro q 4 feels like they are trying too hard to be an all in one plugin. I don't care for it.
You are absolutely clueless, soothe2 is incredible when used right and can really polish sounds or an entire mix naturally while still sounding musical..
Just what i needed as i have Soothe2 . Im going to get the presets pack later tonight. Streaky, will you have a course on it anytime in the future ?
so you're side chaining the kick with a dynamic eq. ground-breaking lol
Not just a dynamic eq, but a spectral dynamic eq!!! It's like using an elephant gun to kill a mouse Lol. The cpu strain just for a kick duck is insane
I have soothe 2 and it's awesome 💯

Also he’s giving away a free preset for this particular plug in so at least he’s paying you for your time in a way 😂

ProQ4 sure caused a stir. lol
This can be done with Waves Equator or FabFilter Pro Q 4. Love Soothe for innovation all those years ago but the price is no more justified.
Thank you! Will this not create chaos with affecting the phase of all the channels involved?
I am curious could this be done with the new Pro-Q4 from Fabfilter?
Maybe but not tried it
Yes, you can do this with Pro-Q4.
Thank you. For those who don't have Soothe, this can easily be done with TDR Nova for free (or TDR Nova GE for a lot less).
It’s not the same thing
@@Streaky_comcan I use the new pro q4 ???? Cuz they added spectral dynamics
@@Streaky_comor can I use trackspacer instead of soothe???
What’s the difference to unmasking plug?
this guy is a hack. proper conman

Interesting. To my ears the vocals sounded clearer and louder maybe after the effect was applied. Good video, good idea.
Is this the same as trackspacer?
similar as it makes space in sidechain mode but soothe is certainly more precise. you could also use a dynamic EQ with sidechain capability
Pro-Q4 is released, Soothe2 panics!!! 🤣

does this concept work with ProQ3? Great video!
Maybe with q4 but not tried yet
Pro4 maybe
@@Streaky_com Thanks! What are the big differences with Q4 that Q3 doesn't offer? Might have to upgrade soon haha

Wondering the same. I think you could get the same effect with any tool you mentioned including a dynamic EQ.

can you not do that in Pro-Q?
Didnt you have a preset with this name with the pro-mb? I still have that one
Maybe by naming is limited
mixing is purely situational.
👏
IDK how you can listen to that "music" all day iyd end myself

@@dingbatjack1234 at least it's mixed well

Needs to not be on the buss as each sound is reacting in its o n way
Absolutely no difference at all.
Would take up tons of CPU + lots of latency,
