You make some beautiful instruments, so when I first saw that purple fabric I thought you were going full whacky with this bass for fun. Seeing it at the end though did quite surprise me, it looked much more tasteful than I imagined it would lol.
That looks great mate! Love the purple 💜 I have a decent size piece of glass I picked up at a yard sale that I glued sandpaper to. It's absolutely fantastic for sanding the joining surfaces on that body, as well as flattening a body before gluing on a top. It stays upright under the side of my workbench, and I just plop it down on said bench to use it. It is incredibly handy, highly recommended 👍
Ok,so I have fretless and fretted headless body less hohners. And even a short scale headless underway. But I don't have a purple one! Which is particularly annoying as I have purple hair currently! Absolute love the work you show. And rather than be jealous, I shall feel justified that I'm not the only one obsessed with these. Peace and love brother 👍 ✌️ ❤️
Radical! Looks great Geoff. Well chuffed I got a mention too 😊 One other bassist who used material on his bass was of course the late great Chris Squire. On his Ric. He wallpapered it paisley, I think (could be wrong on the patteren) Bring on ep2 😎
Just wanted to say love your channel. Your production and presentation are exceptional. Plus the fact you create and record the backing tracks is so cool. Can't wait to see how this "psychedelic oar" turns out!
It might be biased because purple is my favorite color, but that finish is gorgeous! I can't wait to see how you handle the fretwork and the pickups. Great work!
Thank you my friend, and I'm only just getting started wirh the stuff, next mission will be trying to seal a fretless board with it and sanding it perfectly flat. If I can get that right then a lot of things become possible, like I've literally just had the idea of a fabric finished fretboard... I'll need to think that one through for a while though😆
I never knew they did a Steinberger copy, the bassist in my band had a Steinberger shortscale bass, I liked playing it as it was so light. I once borrowed a six string Steinberger for a very important gig as I had sciatica in my back and couldn't hold my Les Paul for a few minutes never mind a 90 minute gig, I was quite active on stage, for that gig I was like a shop window manaquin!
Great idea, but I would've checked that fabric wet first - see what it'll become after coating. It's what I do with veneer too. A white basecoat / primer would've made that pattern pop 😎👍 Nevertheless, well done!! Those old Hohners are amazing...🙏😎 Edit: I have a headless kit guitar I might actually try this out with... Cheers!! 👍
The Paisley Telecasters of the late 60's are worth a mention, here. Not sure if they used cloth paisley, or maybe paper printed patterns, but essentially the idea is much the same. Cool bass, now!
Got to admit, I was worried about the fabric working, until the first layer of UV resin went on and the colours jumped back out. Will be interested to see what it looks like after it's fully sanded flat and polished.
Little bit of Orange would go nice with that Purple, not sure if you’d remember the little cars we used to get in our Rice Bubbles and cornflakes and they came in… Purple with Orange and Green colour combos , always loved them little cars and the 3 colour mix ,,,, Anywaaaay it’s gonna look cool whatever you do to it…. ✌️😎👍🇳🇿
Cool idea, I have an orange paisley strap that'll do the job nicely, it's not very wide so I don't tend to use it that much but the weight isn't an issue here so it may be perfect😁
With a good quality brush yes, you can clean it out with acetone to dissolve the epoxy, unfortunately I cheaped out and bought brushes with plastic handles which also dissolved😆 lesson learned😉
"Mary, now he's out there waving his paddle oar around again".

I'm always aiming for tasteful but I get there in whacky ways. I'd love to know if Ben at Crimson has ever needed a pool noodle in his shop😆
@@fanbladeinstrumentshaha! That's a great question
Geoff, all I can say after watching that fabric get affixed to this busted up Hohner: "Yer a wizard, Harry"
I'm no wizard but I am friends with a legit one, Hi Ari if you're watching👋

Wow! You’ve got great ideas and you sure know what you’re doing. Great job

I very nearly went with green hair gel for Halloween this year, chickened out at the last moment.
Eggs and bacon and a new fanblade video, great way to start the day 😂

That "burst" airbrush effect is absolutely gorgeous!

Thank you, it's all about the music at the end of the day, whatever silliness I may get up to the end goal is always to play music.
You *should* be proud of that! It looks like a proper finish, and not like someone just glued a bit of cloth to a cricket bat
The secret is the airbrushing, it tidies it all up so it looks less like an 8 year old's craft project😆

Beautiful. Very nice work Geoff. UV resin is the way to go for sure. I just love your channel kind Sir.

Prince is smiling somewhere 🙏💜🙏
I can see that smile, I'm sure it's saying WTF?

Ahh.... i should watch to the end before commenting!

After the first 2 mins: instant like!

@ RideOn 👍
The $$stores have the paisley bandanas in all sorts of colours too and cami prints as well
Interesting
Is it possible to clean the epoxy resin from your paint brush?

Don't fix the twist! Torzal guitars build their necks with a rotation in that direction for better ergonomics.
❤❤❤😂
No, I won't have it. You need to keep using super glue forever!
Pluck my purple lolley:
