    To anyone watching this that may not know but might want to - This project is beyond a cool design. The insane amount of knowledge and craftsmanship required to pull something like this off is practically indescribable. Design, materials selection, audio engineering, welding, woodworking, machining…. I can’t figure out how those audio adjustment knobs articulate to make that thing work, but this is honestly mind blowing.
    To the maker - damn man….! Subscribed.

      magnets I'd say. 33:48 there's the mechanism for the poteciometers and I'd say in those gold (brass probably) knobs there are opposite pole magnets.

    realizing you can not create a video that appeals to everyone I have to say the woodworking skills are phenom.... the sound principle behind the bass tubes and reflex shows a truly deep understanding of sound propagation properties but for ME, the soundtrack while interesting is not a choice for shop videos, music in the shop is the sound of the machines and thus the creation of the work of art in wood and sound that you are showcasing. I can listen to non copyrighted music all day at my leisure. I made it 17 minutes into the video before I surrendered to the music. Great videography, great subject matter, amazing building skills and again an in-depth understanding of wave propagation theory, applause for that sir.

    • @Designsbyluke
      @Designsbyluke  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@JimNichols I get you. Thank you for the kind words. People seem to be pretty split on the music lol. They either love it or despise it. I’ll be using more shop noises in upcoming videos but there are just about an endless amount of asmr TH-cam build videos so I’ll probably do a combo in the end. Also didn’t use shop noises in this one bc in 80% of the shots there was a joiner screaming like a banshee in the background. Maybe I’ll make an ASMR version of this one for the more refined gentlemen out there.

    1. Brilliant! One of the best videos of this category i have seen! The fit on parts is extraordinary.
    2. I tend to like more of a one pice video, but i think 3 parts would fit better for the algorithm.
    For this level of content, i would eagerly wait for part 2 and 3 if you only published 1 third of it.
    Another tactic that made me wait for long videos but also kept engagement on channel was keeping it one piece and post shorts along the way. A bit like Dusty lamber

    Luke, it was an absolute pleasure to watch your concept come to life. I love your music choices as well. I originally thought you were installing a speaker system with a turn table in the center, it is what made me watch the video initially. I was pleasantly surprised by the end result, though I think a turntable along side of the top controls would be amazing. Would you be willing to list out the electronics and speakers you used and why you chose them? Maybe do a short video discussing this piece? Keep doing what you are doing, outstanding work! All the best, Paul

    • @Designsbyluke
      @Designsbyluke  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thank you! I’m glad you stuck around. I have been using a turn table with it but it just sits on top. Yeah I can go into it more, but the drivers are Dayton audio Epique extended range subwoofers and the tweeters are the only ones that could match its sound profile. It’s pushing 500W through them and it’s definitely loud enough to piss off the neighbors. The knob system I engineered myself and got it to work- I actually have a provisional patent on it.

    TOTTALLY FRIGGIN BRILLIANT!
    I never thought I would have the volume turned up so high watching a furniture build! lol
    You woodworking, metal fab, ... heck ... ALL your skills are IMPECCABLE!
    Such a CREATIVE way to control system.. it is ingenious! And such a clean look too! Everything flows from one side to the other, but the controls don't even get in the way of that. They seem to become incorporated into the flow and don't interrupt it. But you REALLY teased us with that tilt our drawer (should I call it a drawer?) I wanna see that those knobs do!! LOL
    - I cannot wait to see what you come up with next!
    - - This was one AMAZING experience, too! Such EXCELLENT Tunes! Thank you for listing them too... What a playlist!
    THAK YOU! :) - 10 out of 10 !!!

    • @Designsbyluke
      @Designsbyluke  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha thanks glad you liked it! That’s exactly what I was going for with it all flowing together. I wanted the user to be drawn into the controls and make something usually boring like adjusting volume to be something to get excited about.
      The knobs are magnetic so you can switch it out with others to give it a different look/feel- the lil cabinet is storage for the knobs when you switch them out.
      Hopefully I get to make much cooler stuff in the future!

    Very interesting work to look at, very high quality, professional looking speaker, you've done an amazing job! Have you measured it afterwards? I'd be interested to see the frequency response. Btw, very unique way to adjust sound volume/treble/bass, can't wait to see more work from you.

    I have such envy for young design artists who have such mad skills with, and access to, advanced bench tools. More power to them, but more consistency with earplugs and safety glasses, please.

    Beautiful woodwork and metal work. Beautiful materials. There's a lot of money in materials, let alone in the labor. That being said, I think the audio equipment and design could be better. It's like having a beautiful Ferrari with a motorcycle engine. The speaker driver placement should be closer. Aesthetically, the drivers look stunning the way you laid them out. But they may not be good from an acoustic stand point. My advice would be to follow GR research. He does a great job explaining speaker design. Your cabinet is definately rock solid acoustically and aesthetically. Great video and music too. Bravo.

      Thanks- yeah I realize acoustically it isn’t perfect but when I was designing it I realized probably .1% of people would be able to tell anything is off listening. It still sounds great and it hasn’t bugged and of the big audiophile who have listened to it. And yeah I wish I coulda sank several extra k into audio gear but maybe someday in the future when I’m rich and famous haha….

      @@Designsbyluke Your "out of this world" craftsmanship deserves drivers and electronics on the same level. You should aim for the 1%. I am shure GR research could help you, and it would not be very expensive compared to the cost of the total build.

      Thanks I am going to throw something like that together before too long. Listening is better in person than on speakers a bunch of people have asked for that though
