Dan is such a sweet person. I really love how he mentions the name of his hand model, James (kudos to you James). He always did that in interviews as well for Harry Potter, and I suppose he really developed empathy towards those working on set. Gosh I love him so much. I had a crush on him growing up, and gosh I still support him! So excited for this film!
Yes, I love that about him so much!! He’s so caring and is always trying to protect people at a disadvantage. You can tell he doesn’t take anything for granted. His interviews are so wonderful and down to earth. He really is a rare, precious and wonderful person.

I appreciate that Dan noted how recent apartheid actually is. I'm 25 years old, as of the typing of this comment, and I have siblings who have a *living* memory of apartheid. Not parents. Not grandparents. Not aunts or uncles. I said: siblings. My eldest brother was born in 1979. As well as cousins (as in, first cousins - the children of my father's eldest brother, all born from as early as the late 60s). There are people in my generation in my family who were educated under Bantu education. How on earth, then, can we pretend as if the 1994 moment was a magical reset button that automatically leveled the playing field without ever substantively addressing the effects of things that undermine genuine meritocracy like Bantu education???

This "south african accent" thing always kills me. Everyone always goes for the afrikaans person speaking english and most of us don't sound like that. I guess this is how british people feel when americans say "can i 'av a bottiw of wa'uh guv'nah"
Yeah, not even all Afrikaans people's English accents sound the same 😂. Mine definitely doesn't sound like that. However, for this I guess the real life guy he played pretty much dictated which accent he would use.
i literally remember watching this movie with my family during quarantine and the all of us were nervous when he's trying to unlock the door with chewing gum
I bought this movie and really enjoyed it. Dan did an amazing job. Even though I didn’t like the look with the ugly hair, beard and big glasses, somehow he was still hot and his acting was amazing and he did a good job with the accent. Subtle and realistic. Some of the others sounded a bit exaggerated but Dan’s wasn’t. He really is a good and underrated actor. So talented!!
