Daniel talks about his journey through that, and ultimately where he finds his true happiness.

      @@Stufftough I wish you good luck with your success. Find a hobby you like, which has a local interest group. Try to be more chilled in conversations when u make friends.
      Remember: Try to ask more questions, than to speak about yourself. Do follow up questions on their answers. This is easier if you are really interested in the topics. Example: "You worked as a cashier? Oh my god, you must be through hell and back. What is the craziest costumer story you can remember?". If it comes to a situation where you have different opinions, stand to your point, but respect the points of your conversation partner, try to follow their arguments and point out where you would make other assumptions. In the end don't try to force the other side to say you are right.
      And if you want to learn something, maybe just for the small success for yourself, take some online-course about a topic which interests you. I'm doing a course about the Unity-Engine right now and I love it to see myself evolve through it :)

    Everyone's complaining that the title is clickbait because he's not an alcoholic. True, he's not . . . anymore. He described a little of what he went through here, but he did really struggle with it for a couple of years. He doesn't remember some of the filming of a couple of the movies due to his heavy drinking - he'd come in to work, heavily drunk - and if I remember correctly, he hates watching Half-Blood Prince now because he can pinpoint the exact scenes where "yep, I'm drunk there. And there. And there." and he hates it. He's been sober since 2010.
    Edit - found it:
    “I can honestly say I never drank at work on Harry Potter,” he said. ”I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work. I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes.”

    Just looking at this makes me realize how strong Emma, Rupert, and Daniel and all the others must have been for pushing through and preserving through the hard times because by them doing that, it helped others. There is no way to explain the kind of gratitude I have. I mean it might sounds pathetic but Harry Potter was the only thing that got me through the day when my parents were fighting and I was being excluded at school. But I really think that I was only able to feel this connection to the movies and the series in particular because they all stuck through it, which has virtually never been done before. I mean if we all just take a step back to realize just how amazing these actors and actresses are, it's unfathomable. So thank you to people like Daniel who pushed through because you didn't just set an example by being Harry Potter, you set an example for being you.

      MIKEE well it has many upsides and many downsides.
      Being famous means you get alot of stuff free, you also get sponsors left and right and that = Free stuff and tons of money. Depends on what you do but all in all being famous can be good but also bad. You dont have to think about not having money anymore.
      Lots of pressure, can lead to drugs if you let yourself, You can't really be in public without being unsafe/followed, alot of stress probably and also it can be very very hard to control, you can't really stop the fame, and whatever you do you will be famous. Some people fall off on purpose and regret it later because they start struggeling with money etc, and they cant regain fame.
      Some people love attention, touring, being in the spotlight and there are alot of sober, happy famous people. If you know how to keep it balanced, and if you dont try to push it away or force it, i think it will be fine to be famous, just adapt to your new lifestyle.

      Trent Gentry merely because someone says they have a problem
      With something doesn’t mean they actually have a problem with that thing - millennials in particular often have a bizarre spartan obsession with treating their body like its some kind of temple when in reality lifestyle choices are unlikely to make much real difference to your longevity within reason. They also oftentimes want to describe themselves as having overcome some kind of struggle or obstacle so as to take on the clothes of victimhood for sympathetic effect. It’s interesting you rarely hear these types of people discussing these obstacles as they are in the actual process of dealing with them. It almost seems like they are trying to both have the sympathy of victim status while preserving an aura of Spartan perfection: “that was me then; now I am perfect and will live forever as I constantly hydrate and have a stick up my ass” .....
      Obvs don’t know this kid from
      Adam but he’s less than 30 and I suspect his “dangerous” drinking experiences were simple young persons’ experimentation that he would have grown out of in any event. I highly doubt he is an alcoholic on any rational interpretation of that term which term is anyway of dubious scientific validity in many cases

    I absolutely loved how Daniel kept talking about his struggle with alcohol and his way out in such a casual way, while the interviewer seemed more and more shocked. I think, in our (younger) generation, we really have made that step to break the stigma of any mental struggle and decide to TALK about it, rather than pretending everything is okay and thus leading everybody else on to believe that everything was okay, such problems didn't exist and anyone facing these problems was loser and should keep them a secret, too. Daniel proves to be a really great role model here. I'm proud to be a part of this generation and glad he made it out the other end :)

It must be tough to live that life and only have ppl around who want to use you and take advantage of your fame. Love Daniel!

  • @75flash
    @75flash 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    I absolutely love how Daniel manages to drop a truth bomb on society and probably doesn't even realize it. He is basically just casually talking about life, but he is holding up a mirror to our culture as well. Because he is absolutely right, we treat celebrities as though they aren't allowed to have any negative emotions at all. We carry this idea that they have tons of money, fame, and admiration, and because of that we, feel that they don't have any right to be unhappy, or make mistakes, or express any negative emotion about life. What we sometimes fail to acknowledge is that all that money and fame and glory comes with a HUGE catch. Mostly being that they have MASSIVE expectations to live up to, unending scrutiny that can result in absolutely OBLITERATING your career if you make a mistake. Think about it, there are tons of things celebrities do and say that have cost them HEAVILY, that for just a regular person to do wouldn't mean SHIT. If you DO or SAY anything at all that somebody doesn't like, something that can be taken or interpreted the wrong way, who knows what could happen. The fact of the matter is that as a major celebrity, you are completely at the mercy of the public.
    Now obviously, I'm nothing more than a youtube comment to 99.99% of you reading this, but even though I have never been in the shoes of a major celeb, and probably never will be even remotely close to it, I can easily understand that I can't understand the difficulties and struggles that come with being in that kind of position.

    • @JonnyCook
      @JonnyCook 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s definitely a huge cost to fame that you’d never understand until you experience, and once you experience it, it’s already too late and there’s no going back. Honestly, it can sound like a nightmare sometimes, and I really don’t blame celebrities who lose their shit, blow up at fans, or just do something crazy to completely defy their image in an attempt to get free of it.

    It makes my heart so incredibly happy to know that Dan Radcliffe still loves his Potter role and looks back on it with fondness and not with regret. My mom loves Star Trek as much as I love Potter and at one point, William Shatner really hated Captain Kirk. He refused to give out an autograph to my mom via a friend. If I ever come across Dan or anyone else from the series, I don't think that will happen (I promise to ask politely!). If you ever read these comments Dan, thank you for being such an incredible human! It is truly wonderful to know that my favorite onscreen characters are also some of my favorite real life people.

    • @kevinw712
      @kevinw712 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      well Margeret FYI something that may have contributed to that sort of dynamic... keep in mind when Radcliffe started he was obviously only a little boy, had done a wee bit of acting before it (David Copperfield) but it was more about being a fun lark. Whereas when Shatner got cast in Stark Trek, he was already a fully grown adult, AND had fancied himself this very serious sort of actor, and caring all about "the craft". Not to say that he was right in how he handled it, but I think Shatner's feelings on it all after awhile were born out of where he'd come from previously.

    • @misspriss2482

But behind the scenes there is conflicts, not good days, constantly in the spotlight, it can take a toll on you. He shifted his perspective and seemed to have made it more manageable. Back then I knew he was going to be alright, he's grounded and self aware and so very humble.
