PJ, DJJ, Exum, THJ, Josh (most games) all had WIDE open 3s continiously throughout the series and just missed everything. Mavs shot 31% on open 3s and 29% on WIDE open 3s. Jason Kidd has shown the abillity to make a defensive plan. Mavs in 2022 had a good playoff defense starting Luka, Brunson and Dinwiddie, while having Dwight Powell as the rim protector. If quentin grimes is his recovered from the knee injury and is his Knicks version on top of Naji Marshall (DJJ replacement) with improvements from Lively. Our defense should be good enough. We don't need a top 5 defense, we need a top 10 defense as long as the offense is good enough.
Luka had issues defending in the final but the whole team did except game 4 .But have you watched luka against clippers OKC and wolves? He got hunted and shut it down real quick.A lot of stops in clutch time by luka in many games .Have you watched the games or highlights?also the offense was the major issue in the finals.Their defense was not a concern since march and was not the whole playoffs.
Their defense was a concern in the Finals. Big time. And Luka had his moments on defense in the playoffs for sure but the sustainability of that was the issue. Now it may have been due to injury in the finals that he couldn’t be as effective, but the point still stands. Dallas’ defense is gonna be based on how well he performs. Any defensive liability on the perimeter is getting punished by the right team.

Why is everyone calling this a big 3? Because of Klay's ego? Reputation? He makes less than THJ did. He's a role player here to fix their offensive issues. Adding movement and 3pt sshooting. Whether he plays 20mins or 30mins, I hope that JKidd has full control, because personally, I hate the idea of him playing 30+ mins. Naji needs to play and continue allowing the defensive to stay positive. Stagger mins and have Klay play with Luka and Ky when the other isn't on the floor. Luka improving his conditioning, effort, and focus on defense would allow the 3 to play more minutes together. If he looks the same as last year, pack it up.
Hopefully, he's in better condition. Maybe his body won't break down as much then. It would at least decrease how much fatigue he had/how much he can handle.

Now that’s the season is over I think you underrating how injured Luka really was considering we played horrible we only lost a quarter in every game
The injury point is definitely a good one when talking about Luka’s defense so hopefully it isn’t an issue next season
