Dunno why this kinda thing isn't taught in schools anymore. Nice quick simple bit of knowledge that could go a long way.
Wow.. after watching several videos of what is damp proofing in youtube, this is the only video that taught me what it is. Very impormative.
Exactly! Same here.
Try a dictionary first, then an encyclopedia. Only if those don't tell you the meaning of a term should you turn to random Web results and TH-cam videos.
wow what a quick little lesson on how something works. thanks for sharing!
I just bought my first house and was trying to figure out what a damp proof course is. Thank you man from the past!😁
Best video to teach what damp proofing is used for! This was so helpful!!
also to that, builders use a 'water proof membrane' within a brickwall cavity for further protection. great clip :)
Edwardians prevented rising dampness by putting a layer of slate between bricks
Great explanation
nice demonstration
Excellent explanation 👍👍👍
Excellent! Thank-you
this is very helpful. thanks
Great video
Hi, what about first sugar, it stays wet.. Why do not put damp before put first brick,? Thanks

Damp course should also be used in the render behind the tiles in your shower recess.
Nice
They should build houses put of brindle blocks. My drive is as dry as a bone
Well… they still do teach this in school 😂
Why not always use waterproof mortar?
It's probably expensive. And it really only is useful against dampness rising up the wall, not general humidity, I assume, so a single layer is sufficient.
Partly it has to do with why you wear canvas shoes, not rubber boots. In certain places, permeability to air and moisture is desirable.
@@smadaf Not for me - I wear wellies every day. I love my feet and would hate for anything to happen to them.
Colgate gets into teeth like liquid gets into that chalk.
Thanks Mrs Marsh.
The liquid into chalk reminded me of the Colgate ads th-cam.com/video/qarK6F97apA/w-d-xo.html
Sorry could you please use a brick wall outside instead of sugar. My house isn't built of sugar. Sadly I haven't been able to get brick dust to dissolve in my cup of coffee it usually sits at the bottom of the cup😀
Woosh
Imagine not understanding the concept of an analogy. I fear for our future.
I don't think Deane's job description included building brick walls. Besides, a demonstration with real bricks would be much too slow for this kind of TV show.
