What I love about pastel pencils is how fast you can work with them. 5h for a drawing like this is nothing, this would be a 20-30h drawing with colored pencils.

This is beautiful! How do you blend? I’m the beginning you do the dark blue, light blue, then it seems you add white. Do you blend it with a tool, another colored pencil? The blue just looks so well blended!

Mooie tekening. Mag ik vragen welke methode je gebruikt voor het scherpen van de potloden. Ik gebruik het liefst puntenslijpers maar dan breken de punten heel snel.

Hi Leontine, I love watching your tutorials. When you use pastels do you use a fixative? How about a blending solvent?
Hi she only uses colored pencils nothing else. Hope this helps 😄😄👋😄
Nope I never use fixative(personal preference), and no solvent either:)

Gorgeous painting ! I feel like pastel pencils are easier to use than colored pencils. Is it possible to only use pastel pencil for a piece? I don't like to use soft pastel so I quit this medium for this reason.
Yes, you can only use pastel pencil for a piece. Just be aware that you will burn through them rather quickly. Hope this is helpful!
Yes I don't even use my soft pastel anymore! All my pastel pieces are usually 100% pastel pencil. I prefer them over soft pastel sticks:)

Do you prefer pastel pencils to wax or oil based? If so, why?
As far as I know pastel pencils are neither oil or wax. Colored pencils are oil or wax based but pastel pencils lack those ingredients. That's why they're so easily blendable and colored pencil aren't:)
Edit: I think I read that wrong haha! I don't prefer pastel pencils over colored pencils. I like them both equally, but I must say I'm really into pastel currently:)
