I had the same questions before and while pursuing medical and physical science, but gave up when I realized current medical science totally ignored such things as revelation, intuition, insight, motivation. Dr. Nader had the wisdom to pursue through these deficiencies and bring clarity and intelligence through explication of understanding the true Self. My later study of Ayurveda, Hinduism, Buddhism, and other wisdom traditions has opened consciousness to awareness of the omnipotence of our universe. At 70, I am hoping to finally study under Dr. Nader.
Dr. Gervais. First, you seem to be getting there. But, I should point out that TM is NOT a "mindfulness" practice. It is NOT a "mindfulness" technique. It is a "consciousness" technique. So, it is about the Unified Field, a pure, abstract field of pure intelligence, the home of all the laws of nature. It isn't about "monitoring" one's thoughts, but is instead a technique to SETTLE the mind. Yogas Citta Vrtti Nirodah - "Yoga is the complete settling of the activity of the mind" as Maharishi PATANJALI wrote in the second sutra of the first pada (chapter) of his treatise, "Yoga Sutra". When the mind becomes settled, the body settles to a level of physiological rest that can be up to three times deeper (determined from physiological paramaters) than sleep - while the individual's awareness is only aware of itself - and brainwaves show that the mind is actually MORE awake/alert than during WAKING consciousness. From that deep rest and deep healing, the neurophysiology supports more awareness during the experience of other states of consciousness like waking, dreaming and sleeping eventually becoming permanent in a state of "Cosmic Consciousness" as you and Dr. Nader discussed. To self-monitor (mindfulness) during the process of meditation - is to DEFEAT the process of settling the mind - by consciously, purposefully increasing mental activity, monitoring one's thoughts trying to be "mindful". To transcend is to "go beyond" thought itself. Just so we're clear. I guess I should've watched the rest of the video before interjecting, I should've known that Dr. Nader would clarify all of this, but I wanted to be sure this point (that TM isn't open monitoring/mindfulness) made it into the discussion - before I forgot.
Lovely discussion, but the advertisement for sugar break and the promotion of a keto diet worried me . Is not fruit the most nourishing food for humans? Is not eating animals an act that takes the life of a being that desired to live ? I am new to your podcast, So perhaps you promote a vegan based keto diet... This is why I'm posting this. Many people connect a keto diet with eating flesh. Thank you for sharing your discussion with Doctor Nader. He truly is a beautiful man.
