      Nice. Glad the video was helpful. Definitely some “under the radar” top end tech, with the REEFI units

      Nice meeting you. Hope it does as well in your tank, as it has in mine

    did it come with the hangers?

      I believe my light came with the four wire 10” hangers and clips. Send Reefi an email, just to make sure the Reefi Uno 2 includes them. In my experience, they respond quickly. Additionally, they offer a very high quality tank mount option

      The Lagoon frag system is currently doing great under the Reefi. The best thing about it is probably how small it is, but still plenty of power. I like how it stays out of the way and creates a variety of PAR levels throughout the 24x24 reef, but is still relatively even throughout. It did however take a lot of time to dial in proper. I also wish I could get a bluer look at 90% power. Guess that is what the v2 is for. You also asked about the AI Hydra 64. Overall, I still prefer those, especially for a larger system. I like the color better and they are a bit easier to dial in. I don’t ever see swapping those out for anything else. There is a reason why AI has been around so long

    Hey there, I will be setting up a 600 litre reef tank (160 gallons US). So, I plan to use 2 boxes (160 pieces total) of Maxpect bio balls. Do you think that will be enough for a 160 gallon tank? Also instead of adding bacteria, I plan to put these bags of bio media into my cousin’s tank’s sump and keep it there for a month or two before I set up my tank. His tank is a few years old. So um that way I can get a variety of bacteria from his tank and also microorganisms like copepods and amphipods. What are the Chances I can get pests as well? Like bristle works, aptasia, etc. do you think they will be a problem in a sterile tank? Also how can I get all these bacteria to colonise my bio media and also the copepods to stay in it without getting any of the pests into my tank? Is that possible? Please let me know! Also is this a good idea? What do you think? Thank you in advance!

      Interesting question. This is beyond the scope of this video and you should probably post your question to a reef forum. That said.. bio balls (the trickle filter variety) are generally only used in a marine fish only setup, due to elevated nitrate levels when using them. I don’t know much about the one’s Maxspect offers. Acceptable for fish, but will eventually pose a problem for coral. I can only assume you are using them for a bacterial transfer device in an anoxic section of your sump, rather than a trickle filter? As far as introducing beneficial bacteria, there is always a risk of cross contamination. This is also true when introducing nearly any fish or coral to a system. Can’t live in fear. Most successful Reefers will eventually need to address pest management. That said, there is an entire segment of the industry producing “clean” bacterial supplements. Take that with a grain of salt. Could be pests in them too. Definitely seek advice on a trusted forum. TH-cam is not generally a good place for this complicated a topic. Perhaps I’ll go into greater detail in a future video. Best of luck and hope the channel has been helpful for you.

      @@craftaquatic6472 I see thank you so much! No, these bio balls are made of a ceramic like media if I am not wrong and are used like normal bio media, only in the shape of balls.

    Still running these lights and what are your opinions now? Any UI issues? Any connectivity issues? Any rogue programming issues: lights coming on when they are supposed to be off, slowly slipping out of time, (ex: schedule 12pm-8pm) but the lights start coming on earlier/later than noon and turning off earlier/later than 8pm?

    • @craftaquatic6472
      @craftaquatic6472  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven’t done much tweaking since initial setup, so can’t comment on connectivity reliability. Far as I can tell, the programming has stuck where I initially set it, even through random power outages and brown outs. Haven’t noticed any time slippage. I should reiterate that the ReeFi Uno is hung over a down stairs frag system that is only really observed a few times a week, so it is possible there could be some of the issues mentioned. Mostly happy with the light, other than the loose Oled display that always seems to be ever so slightly out of alignment. Have you taken up any of your issues with the manufacturer?

    I don’t know if you are still answering questions about this light but I am looking to get a new tank which I want to be 4’x2’x20”. What do you think about coverage with this light? Would two be enough? If it needs to be 3 then it would be more cost affective to get 2 Neptune sky or 2 reef flare Medium size. I just don’t see anyone describing their “real “ coverage. I run a Sps tank top to bottom and want to do the same. It is a way off, so I am doing research and you are one of the only few who didn’t get it for free to test out.

      For full on SPS, if you want to use the Reefi, I’d recommend two of their larger fixtures or 3 of the new reefi unos. The new Unos are much better in every way. As you know, you will eventually need more coverage, to blanket the tank, as your coral grow into colonies. Starting with the Neptune sky, may actually make more sense. Personally I’d go with the reefi and supplement with LED strips in a few years. I like the flexibility of that better than two Neptune skies dominating the area above. Both are good options. You get the 3 year warranty with Reefi and will get the owner on the phone if you have any issues. Not sure what Neptune’s warranty is like. Hope that helps.

      @@craftaquatic6472 , thanks a lot for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I figure that was the case b/c I now have 3 AI 32hd with 4 T5s and 2 blue LED bars . I just wanted to see if I can cut down on the number of lights and sticking to the LEDs and getting all around coverage with little to no shadows.

    There is a difference between a "review" and an advertisement. The light does look well built and appears to be a quality product, but to call this a review is quite disingenuous. Please include some of the lights shortcomings as well; even if it is something as simple as "I wish the cord was a bit longer".

    • @craftaquatic6472
      @craftaquatic6472  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Fair enough. I agree that some of the shortcomings are helpful to know. I did mention that this is a difficult light to dial up the blues and not really for newbies since it offers little guidance concerning settings. An honest review can actually be positive, if it is the experience of the person reviewing the product. I currently have no affiliation with REEFI and was not paid to make this video. Just a damned good light, for a fair amount of money and want people to know it’s an option in a hobby where a couple specific companies are constantly hyped.

      In what way was this an advertisement? The product just seems like it was incredibly solid. I know we’re not used to that sort of result in reefkeeping, as so many flawed products go to market in our hobby, but jeez dude - cut this guy a break. He made a really nice review, and did actually mention a couple shortcomings (cord length, blue appearance, etc).
