"Ever had suspension so stiff that it felt like your soul would leave your body after hitting a big bump?" Yes - i bought my bugeye wagon new and went with the factory struts for nine years. Ten years ago i swapped to factory housings with Koni Sport (Yellow) inserts and a Ground Control setup for height adjustment. i also had Whiteline sway bars front and rear, strut tower bars front and rear and Subaru Group N strut top hats. Was great for the track but beat me up the other 99+ % of the time. Couple of days ago i decided to replace one of the Koni inserts which had been leaking for a long time and was shot. I tried everything to get it out of the factory housing but nothing worked. Took it to a auto repair shop this morning. Their 20-ton hydraulic press could not get the damn thing to come out! I need to get it out to send back to Koni for a warranty claim or i'm stuck paying $180 for a shock insert i can't even use. Anyway, i'm tired of getting beat up every time i drive the car so i'm seriously considering going back to factory or factory-style struts. I already removed both strut tower bars and adjusted the sway bars from their hardest settings to the softest.
OH MY GAWD. I've got an 03, blue, WRX, hatchback. THE EXACT SAME CAR. I _just_ got a set of coil-overs from flatout suspension, Spendy, but mine have the adjustable spring rate, and I do a lot of camping with my daily driver, so I have the option to raise the ride height. rather than lower.
Yo! That’s chuckanut!!! I’m also in Bellingham! Blight coils but they are a little stiff and I was thinkiing of switching to these! Great vid thanks for the review!
Whats funny is people who don't realise the Stock Suspension are Still Coil Over (just not adjustable) Coil overs were invented in the 50-60's they are called The McPhearson Strut. Adjustable coil overs like people fit today are meant for the track only really and in some countries they are illegal for road use. (no point having adjustable suspension on a road car, as every time you raise or lower car more than 10mm by adjusting coil overs you need an entire new wheel alignment.) Only real need for "coilovers" on a WRX is if you have a partner/friend who weighs like 500lbs and need to stiffen suspension on their side of the car so its not leaning. :D LMAO (personally i would just kick them out of my car till they lost 400lbs)
Oof, I don't have that on hand. I'd recommend calling your local dealership and they can give you the part number. Then you can find it for cheaper online.
@@bendaga Awesome! I'm from the area and thought I recognized it. Ok, i see, spring/strut combo looks good! I just picked up an 02 and am wondering what I should do for suspension. I am liking the height of yours!
@@MrTAD359 Oh cool! Thanks man. It all really depends on what you're going for. I've driven plenty of different variations of suspension for these chassis' (lifted, slammed, lowered) and this is my favorite setup for daily driving hands down. Doesn't look as cool if you are going for "stance" but its way more comfortable haha
@@bendaga how much more comfortable? I'm looking for new shocks and struts or better coilovers for my 02 WRX. The ones I have on now, you can feel EVERYTHING. I would like a better smoother ride, as if you don't want to wake a sleeping baby up. I'm also looking at the kyb shocks. Ride height im not too worried about. I'm more into the daily driving and I hate feeling like my car is hitting something every time I go over a small crack.

Pedders sportsryder suspension are the bomb
what is the part number of the camber bolts, good sir? are they needed for front and rear?
Oof, I don't have that on hand. I'd recommend calling your local dealership and they can give you the part number. Then you can find it for cheaper online.
K know its a old video but the previous owner probably put a high spring rate or didn’t know what he was buying, main cause of bouncing
For Ride Quality and Lifespan of parts (also Safety)
Even $800 Pedders Struts are far superior to even $5000 CoilOvers Installed by Racing techs.
Omg the coils on my gti were HORRIBLE! I could have used something like this soo bad lol.
I didn't really see much of the installation process but good video
So I'm thinking about getting this suspension for my 07 wrx sedan. Will I still need the rear spacers or is that only for the wagons?
I don’t think you’ll need the spacers unless you’re running an aggressive wheel and tire setup. Then you may need to roll fenders
Pedders noooooooo!
Just use kyb kids. Winners don't do pedders.
Did you have to remove both sides at same time to get the new longer struts in?
Nope just one at a time.
Where can I buy the red suspension? For my 06 Subaru wagon
I dont have the exact link but if you look up pedders suspension for a wrx something should show up. Hope this helps!
I just got a wagon. Where are you putting the jackstands at?
On the pinch welds by the wheel.
is that chuckanut in the ned of the video?
yep

how much was the set of new coilovers?
The spring/strut combo was about $800
Just hammer it everywhere and have fat tyres
