I love the way this piece is very quiet initially and then you are hit by a wall of sound when the choir comes in. I recommended it to a music group I belong to and the organiser, put it on and turned the volume up to a comfortable level, not realising what was coming. The look on his face as he rushed to turn the volume down was priceless.

What magnificent camera work. The close ups are superb and bring so much to the performance.

Notice how the intro starts 'p' and STAYS that way (as Handel wrote it) until the choir's 'ff' entry. Most conductors make an extended crescendo all through the intro - exciting in its own way, but not what the composer wrote, and something which tends to diminish the impact of the choral entry.

Sir, it does not only diminish the choral entry, but it tends to diminish the originality of the long standing traditional (musical) piece. Methinks conductors should pay attention to this as to give sanctity and preservation to traditional compositions. Meanwhile, sir, I really love your analysis in summary of this rendition.

Great catch! Very few people understand this. This rendition is just what Handel intended.
