33:07 Kings shall be thy nursing father
This hymn was composed to celebrate the coronation of the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, George II and Queen Caroline at Westminster Abbey. The music is naturally triumphant and conveys a great joy for the situation. The hymn could only be composed by an extraordinary musician, whose talent, especially for this type of melody, was unique. The orchestra, the direction and the choir are outstanding. Viva Handel and his unmistakable and superb music.
We try to sing Handel Coronation Anthems in my choral near Paris. It's not so easy you need so much energy. Funny to ear all those French people (including myself) sing "God save the King" though !
0:00 Zadok the Priest
Zadok the priest
And Nathan the prophet
Anointed Solomon king
And all the people rejoiced, rejoiced, rejoiced
And all the people rejoiced, rejoiced, rejoiced
Rejoiced, rejoiced, rejoiced
And all the people rejoiced, rejoiced,
Rejoiced and said:
God save the king
Long live the king
God save the king
May the king live forever
Amen, amen, alleluia, alleluia, amen, amen
Amen, amen, alleluia, amen
ㅤ
God save the king
Long live the king
May the king live forever
Amen, amen, alleluia, alleluia, amen
May the king live
May the king live
Forever, forever, forever
Amen, amen, alleluia, alleluia, amen, amen
Alleluia, alleluia, amen, amen, amen
Amen, amen, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, amen
ㅤ
God save the king
God save the king
Long live the king
May the king live
May the king live
Forever, forever, forever
Amen, amen, alleluia, alleluia, amen, amen, amen,
Amen, amen, amen, alleluia, amen
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia,
Amen, alleluia
5:40 Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened
Let thy hand be strengthened and thy right hand be exalted
Let justice and judgment be the preparation of thy seat!
Let mercy and truth go before thy face
Let justice, judgment, mercy and truth go before thy face
Allelujah (12:17)
14:12 The King Shall Rejoice
The King shall rejoice in thy strength, O Lord
Exceeding glad shall he be of thy salvation
Glory and great worship hast thou laid upon him
Thou hast prevented him with the blessings of goodness
And hast set a crown of pure gold upon his head
Allelujah
24:57 My Heart Is Inditing
My heart is inditing of a good matter:
I speak of the things which I have made unto the King
Kings daughters were among thy honourable women
Upon thy right hand did stand the Queen in vesture of gold
And the King shall have pleasure in thy beauty
Kings shall be thy nursing fathers
And queens thy nursing mothers
Diese musik ist einfach wonderschoen!
it seems to me the British have a great and venerable tradition when it comes to singing, choirs, vocal ensembles etc. bravo! 👍 cheers from Germany
Well yes, and at this level it was brought to us by a German named Handel :) Cheers from the UK

@thank u for sending him to us
The composer of the Champions League Anthem needs to pay Handel royalties!
It's like us humans are pleaing with god, to answer us back, to talk to us. Through the most beautiful sounds possible. This music is like a prayer, a serenade, to god. If a god exists.
It may be mainstream... but oh boy. If I ever marry, I will def. consider the Zadok The Priest as the entrance
Careful! You don't want to draw attention away from the bride!
@@kennethduckworth4910 I will be the bride, m'am! 🤴
@@arthurfilemon6038 So you don't mind your entrance being upstaged, sir?
I'm looking forward to hearing this performed in May for the purpose for which it was written
A musical mind touched by the Spirit of God.
There are few songs that actually send shivers down your spine when you listen to it, but this masterpiece by Handel is definitely one of them.
Joe Van Seeters It is an oratorio, not a song. TH-cam & Spotify are responsible for these misunderstandings.
@@mckavitt13 Well, to be honest, it's music to me. I'm not a classical music buff by any means, but I do like it from time to time and this particular piece I especially like. Simple as that. Oratorio, Song, Music, etc., it still sounds pretty awesome to my brain! Thanks for the education however. Peace my friend.
@@joevanseeters2873 Aren't you nice. Peace to you.
Joe Van Seeters
The problem about the word ‘song’ is simply that you’ve used an American English usage of the word that is limited almost entirely to North America and is not universal except unfortunately on apps like TH-cam.
In the rest of the English speaking world, a song means something sung by a voice, with words - this is the definition you will find in the Oxford English Dictionary, or any from Australia or New Zealand et cetera.
And to be strictly fair and accurate, the Merriam-Webster American English definition is the same as the Oxford definition, so it’s difficult to understand where this aberration has come from.
The English word ‘song’ is a direct and exact translation of the Italian ‘canzone’, French ‘chanson’ and German ‘lied’; unfortunately, the American English usage - perpetuated by TH-cam - is something of a mutant and not recognised anywhere else.
Hope that helps.
@@elaineblackhurst1509 All you say. Examples of this usage: Spotify, Apple Music, Google Music. Even a symphony is called a "song". Slipshod (google doesn't recognise this word!) & misleading. Further dumbing down of entire populations of people worldwide using the internet. Hence the confusion.
Absolutely magnificent! What can one say--the irrepressible joy of his music is every bit as uplifting as anything can be, even while there is such an incredible depth of sorrow in some of his pieces that bring such comfort to the soul, as well. Love this composer! And this particular performance by the Sixteen is so energetically performed under the inspiring conductor, Harry Christophers. Thank you!
This is surely the pinnacle of performance standard for this repertoire.
Sublime compositor el alemán Friedrich Händel. Y extraordinaria las interpretaciones inglesas.
My absolute favorite. This music is so exceptionally beautiful it's hard to describe how one really feels when listening.
Beauty ....comes in all shapes, colours, ...and sounds..... Watching this on a flat screen seems like I'm sitting in the audience.....
This is the mystical moment for a human, been coronated king or queen
Handel Zadok the priest,a masterpiece,Bye for now love Alan
Outstanding!!! Oh, to be there in the audience - that would be the only way this could have been better.
Handel's anthems are so very beautiful, my favorite is the first one used for coronations.
What a rendition and what a Composer
Harry Christophers existe depuis longtemps. Je serai très triste quand il décide de prendre son retraite.
What an awesome performance
The best performance I've seen so far 👏
Great performance with color and expression. Without a doubt one of the best I ever heard. Astonishing skill in controlling the voices and instruments. Harry Christophers surpasses in soulful feeling and passion for what he is doing, an extraordinary talent.

Yay! bella brava beautiful singing. I really enjoyed listening and watching you on your international tour 2012 in New Zealand ❤️
are they The Thirty-Two when they do this?
Resplendent!!! Absolutely best! The power, the precision - astounding!
Great music, great performance!
I can't improve on the praise both have received from other commentators.
Just one niggling complaint though -
I wish the video had not ended so abruptly, but had included some of the applause, or at least a few seconds of silence before ending.
But anyway, thanks very much for uploading it!
❤❤❤❤❤❤Maravilloso!
Beautiful!❤️
Música magnífica, interpretada de manera sobresaliente
wonderful sound. Thanks George H
Bravo!!
An excellent presentation
Hope we hear something approaching this quality in Westminster Abbey this June.
Most likely it will be replaced with some Islamic chant or Jewish dance knowing the Woke Anti Christ Charlie boy.
I'd say that we did
he borrowed some of this for the messiah, i can hear it.
Germans were the best classic composers of all....+ Vivaldi of course ;)
No sir! You are the patient!
Such highly expressive music although in some parts would have preferred the pace to be slightly slower.
Champions League
Not entirely 🎼🎵🎶🎹
always gives me chills! we played Zadok the Priest leaving my brother’s funeral, he loved football.
Hilarious
