Silverwood Review, Idaho Amusement & Water Park | Best Park in the Pacific Northwest

- Silverwood is the best park in the Pacific Northwest. Located in Athol, Idaho, this is a beautiful park. While it's just 35 years old, it has the charm of the country's oldest parks. And it also features a strong ride lineup with 7 roller coasters, several thrilling flat rides, and some notable water rides, including the entire Boulder Beach water park. But unfortunately, this is one of the more isolated parks out there, which makes it a challenge to access.

I’m extremely lucky to live only about 15 to 20 minutes from Silverwood. It’s beautiful and extremely fun.
Nice!
Same! Well, nearly. I live around 30 minutes away from Silverwood.
I love silver wood and being close makes this place a lot more fun and easy to get to
yea i live like 40mins away, its a great place to go with friends
yeah its a great park!
I've worked at this park for 6 years and it was so strange to see a review of it pop up in my recommended videos. I'm glad this park stood out to you
I really like it. It's so charming.
Yes staffing can be an issue. They rely on HS kids on summer break for the most part and even have busses that run into Spokane and CDA to pick up employees. Thanks for the review of my home park.
You're welcome. I'm appreciative they have found ways to get most rides open daily despite staffing challenges.
I grew up in Central Washington and we would try and go here once a year, this was my childhood, I can’t tell you the amount of memories I had at this place, it will always hold a special place in my heart!
Nice!
I’m actually at Silverwood right now, and this is my first time seeing my anyone else talk about it. I’m glad the park is fun for other people too, and Stunt Pilot is one of my favorite roller coasters of all time
It's a great park!
I’ve had Lagoon as my home park my entire life and went to Silverwood for the first time in 2020. I was so impressed with the beauty and charm of this park. I was only there for a few hours so I’m definitely itching to go back to experience everything I missed.
Those are 2 of the best independent parks in the country.
I love Lagoon.
This park looks so beautiful and well kept.
It is.
This is the only theme park I’ve been to. I grew up in Montana so we would go every couple of years back in the early 2000s. Took me a lot of courage as a kid to get on those roller coasters 😂but all around an amazing time I’ll never forget!
I'm glad the area has a great park like this.
I worked at Disney World pre-pandemic in one of the water parks and I loved the Crush'N'Gusher water coaster at Typhoon Lagoon.
I now live back with family in Idaho and even though I'm only about 2 hours away from Silverwood, I haven't been there in about 5 years. but it looks like I'm gonna have to go again this year.
I must say as someone who grew up in Idaho, i really have no idea why such a large park exists in rural Idaho
It's a great park despite the location.
I luckily live 10 minutes away from silverwood, and although im scared of rides everything they have is amazing. I love their scarywood stuff they do for halloween, funnest nights ever.
It's such a good park.
Looking forward to getting up here in late June this year!
Enjoy!
@@CanobieCoaster thanks this definitely helps to get a good idea what to expect
I wish I loved anything as much as this dude loves theme parks. I don't really go to theme parks, and was expecting to click off the video, but I watched the whole thing.
Extremely well made video. Well done!
Thanks!
i loved silverwood as a kid. i haven’t been in a hot minute since i’m not a big coaster person and i normally just ride timber terror and some of the smaller coasters. i’ll watch the magic show everytime though. and dip n dots are a huge plus.
It's a good park for all tastes.
The pines give me Bob Ross vibes. Beautiful!
It is pretty.
You were right about Eagle Hunt, there was a MASSIVE line all day, and before opening there was a huge line just to get into the park
Water coasters are super popular.
As someone who cannot drive, I can’t see myself getting to this park anytime soon unless they have Uber or a bus from Spokane, that can take you there
While you may be able to get an Uber from Spokane, you would struggle to get one back.
This is my home park, and it is really an underrated park. The 1 train operations can be a pain, but I have found that the weather can REALLY help your ability to ride these rides. I went on an overcast/ semi-rainy day and EVERY ride was a walk on. The food options are amazing, and my personal favorite is the All you can eat BBQ place. Its affordable, filling, and a great atmosphere.
The train ride is the secret star attraction IMO, and depending on how busy the park is, you may have to line up 45 mins to an hour before the next ride. Because the ride is 30 minutes with a show, its worth the nice relaxing sit down time.
HOWEVER, their are some great deals to be hand that Silverwood offers. First, discount days on Mothers day/Fathers day, and a lot of weekends in May/September. Second, the season pass. Their season pass is money well spent after 3 uses (and if you buy around black Friday, the passes are the cheapest). Finally, if your local to the area, they give out free tickets to children for completing a school reading log. It's a great program to encourage kids to read and they get a trip to Silverwood for doing so.
That makes sense to visit on a day with poorer weather. That helps at many parks as long as they don't close early.
I was a ride operator back after after I graduated high school, in 2001. I lived in Spokane and drove in 6 days a week... one thing even back then that caused a staffing shortage, besides driving distance, was super low pay. We got $5.00 an hour (you got a .25 cent an hour pay raise each season you worked), throw in gas and you didn't get much in take home pay - but at least back then we got free lunch (great food cooked for us - burgers, fried chicken, fries, potatoes & gravey... all you could drink drinks for the entire day that they'd bring to your ride) and they provided the full uniforms and really nice work shoes, Plus two free park tickets per paycheck. But you never got a guaranteed shift, they'd over staff (expecting call-outs) for the day and then send people home if all the rides were filled, so your drive in and home could end up being fully out of pocket. It was a fun place to work tho, I loved that season far more than the 3 seasons I spent at WildWaves/Enchanted Village.
Wish I didn't live so far away now, would love to experience some of the new rides that have gone in since I was there last - 15-ish years ago.
That's rotten they'd send you home. That wastes your time and money.
living in north idaho, its the only amusement park within hundreds of miles of me. im very blessed to have that opportunity living here lol. one of my friend's sisters worked here and got us into the park before it opened for the season on a "trial run" day. my friend and i rode the corkscrew back to back like a dozen times because we had the coaster to ourselves. it is symbolic given that my dad and his friend rode the corkscrew when they were in their 20s as well back when he lived in southern california and it was at knott's berry farm. love the parallel experience despite said experience being thousands of miles apart
It's a very good park. I'm glad they grew despite limited competition.
I did the same while my family (and pretty much everyone else in the park) were waiting for the magic show to start. Around 6:30, corckscrew is basically walk-on
When you said $84, I literally said out loud "Holy Shit"
This and Lagoon are two parks that are shockingly pricey, but they are great at least.
A lot of local stores and what-have-you either offer discounted tickets or have fun little contests to win them. Or at least they did.... it's been awhile.
Seems like a great park with a solid lineup- great review as always
Thanks!
i grew up going to silverwood every summer, maybe it's nostalgia, but even as an adult when I've went, there is still magic...About 10 or so years ago we went there on my grandmas birthday when she turned 60, and my aunt and i convinced her to ride the aftershock with us, haha
Nice!
As a lifeguard at Silverwood, I can say that Eagle Hunt has definitely taken up the mantle of Boulder Beach's standout slide. We had some operational difficulties at first, and the pick your prey feature is not up and running yet, but so far it's been a big hit.
That's good to hear!
I loved visiting this park. But the seven hour drive during fire season tried both my husband and I's patience.
The food was really good and reasonably priced. We got barbeque.
I am happy to make a drive for a park this good.
I am in America and in too days I’m going there the date in June 22 I am going on that day I think am I am so excited I can’t wait for the water park!!!!
Have fun!
I love this park.
Me too.
Yes, I go here every year. It is such a great park. 7 hours from where I am
It's awesome.
@@CanobieCoaster Yup! 👍
It’s about 7-8 hours from where I live too!
@@Random-guy-on-yt Nice!
Hehe something funny about this, I’m literally going to silverwood tomorrow XD
Excellent and very fair review. I visited in 2019 as part of a trip to Canada from the UK, so if I can get there, anyone can 😆 Combine it with Vancouver, Cultus Lake and Edmonton and see some amazing scenery in Montana and Banff whilst picking up the major parks in that very large loop! The operations at the park are pretty poor but they do have some excellent rides.
I really like the park and just wish the operations could speed up so I could ride more.
Great video. Love this place. And the whole panhandle.
I love the park too.
Scary wood is my favorite part
I’m so lucky one of my parents moved to a town nearby so I got to go to Silverwood conveniently. Tremors is my favorite wooden coaster I’ve been on. Wish I got some re rides in. Stunt Pilot is my favorite raptor currently #9 out of my 64 or so credits.
Nice!
Scarywood deserves its own video
I will make one if I go back for that event.
Tripple play has a hotel about its 15 minutes from the park. It's a nice place to stay and has a decent indoor water park.
I remember seeing that one when looking for rooms.
$84 is a lot, but it is a great park to visit. Using the camp grounds is a blast if you want to go for a weekend. There's great food, games and rides and the water park with that lazy river with the swim up bar is just top notch.
It's pricey, but at least it's quality.
I’m in this video, lol 7:40 I saw him taking the video later on and gave him side eye.
Sorry I was trying to get a station shot.
Love silverwood, I love that they turn it into a haunted park during October called scarywood
The event sounds great.
hope to get to silverwood someday
my hope park is wild waves so it shouldn't be too out of the way but still a long drive
I agree it's a long drive, but it's worth it.
I am hoping to make it to Silverwood next year. On the note about ride ops, my first visit to Michigans Adventure was after a drenching morning storm, and both Wolverine Wildcat and Shivering Timbers had 1 operator each most of the day. I had never seen that at a corporate park. ST got a 2nd ride op later. I would always be on the next train out because of the light crowd.
I'm surprised Cedar Fair would allow that. Silverwood can have one op even on holiday weekends unfortunately.
this park is def in my bucket list
As it should.
Do you like Lagoon or Silverwood better?
Lagoon
Yess! Your park reviews are excellent, man. So detailed.
Thanks!
I live just south of the idaho/utah border, and even then I might never be able to get up to this park due to how remote it is.
It's so hard to get to.
I am in Missoula, MT right now and tomorrow, I will take a bus to Coeur d' Alene, ID because in 2021, I almost went to Idaho from Utah, but ran out of time.
Have fun!
I live in eagle idaho and I’m heading up to cord’e alane (idk if i spelled that right) this coming Wednesday. And I’m going to go to silver wood one of the days. I’m so exited ✨✨✨
Have fun!
Love this park!
Me too.
@canobie coaster will you ever review the Washington state fair they have 2 fairs the spring fair in April in the main one in August September i forgot
I have been there, but I don't have any video footage so I wouldn't be able to make one up to my standard.
@@CanobieCoaster oh I was hoping we could see a review eventually then your pnw amusement park stuff would be done I think right cause you did wild waves Silverwood oaks park enchanted forest so all that's left is the fair
Yaaasss, Aftershock is my favorite! My ex-gf used to work there, so we got in for next to nothing.🤑 The lines are ridiculous, but other than that, the park is a blast!
The lines move slow due to one train, but usually stuff is no more than 20-30 min.
@@CanobieCoaster They've gotten better, at least. 😎
We live a couple of hours away and try to go yearly.
Nice!
lol when you said "45 to 60 min wait times" I'm thinking that's nothing compared to say Worlds of Fun last time I went there was a 3-4 hour wait time.
Was that during Haunt?
I think it's a neat park. Good rides and a good collection of water rides. They need Funnel Cakes. Yummy.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They probably have funnel cakes somewhere in the park.
@@CanobieCoasterBut you hates sweets though.
They do have funnel cakes! They're sold in the carnival area. You can get plain, strawberry, or my personal favorite- huckleberry. It is a regional speciality that is absolutely delicious. Kind of like what boysenberry is for Knott's. (Also recommend the huckleberry ice cream.)
@kotchapakmaneechote20 62 that's why he doesn't know
It's the best. ❤
Best park in the region.
Since Timber Terrors and Tremors only run 1 train, could they get someone like GCI, RMC to build a transfer track so they could run 2 trains on weekend (which also ordering 2 new set of PTC trains for both of them)?
They could. Holiday World did that with Raven years after it opened. Only problem with Tremors and Timber Terror is that the rides have pathways right next to them, so it would be hard to fit.
Wait, this channel isn't your main work? With your upload schedule that's crazy.
I just do this as a hobby.
3:33 as a Spokane local I thank you for not calling it Spo-cane
I have coworkers in Washington who corrected me last year before my trip lol
They used to have this water tank ride where you and a friend can pay $5 to drive a floating tank and go around the area shooting balls to disable other tanks cannons or spray water at the people outside shooting air cannons at you and the other tanks inside. It's such a shame to see this ride go. :(
I've ridden that type of ride at Morey's Piers. A unique experience!
Looks like it’s in the middle of a nice place of piece and quite. Just a lot of fun!! 😅
It's a great park.
I’m a Canadian and drove 12hr to get there it was worth it
Nice!
Yes, I had great food at Lindy’s.
Awesome!
It's not located in western Idaho, it's in North Idaho. It's only 90 miles south of the Canadian border!😂
Both seem to apply.
8:25 That should be illegal honestly for any major roller coaster. Two minimum. Just nuts. One person can't do that all day, everyday without adding risk for accidents.
The employees were following the policies, so they weren't skipping safety steps. It just slowed things down having one.
I work here
Hope you like it!
@@CanobieCoaster I've been working here for three years and yeah it's a great place to work
I am a local and gold passes are only 800$ and season passes are 200$
I'd get one if I lived closer.
15:30 is that a baby sns screamin swing?
Yes, it's a little pendulum.
I live 20 minutes from here
Nice!
I’m going here for orchestra
Enjoy!
You forgot thier mascot, Garfield.
Sorry about that.
Garfield isn’t the mascot anymore because of licensing issues after Viacom bought him
@@gamerparker123 Yea, I just went yesterday and Garfield was gone :(
no take a flight to cour d lene idaho, its closer than spokane
That works if you can find one.
20:12 is that a cheetah chase clone?
Do you like cheetah chase? Holiday World is my home park so I'm somewhat biased but I think it's an underrated water coaster
@@CancelHappiness I’ve sadly not gotten to go to Holiday World so I can’t say.
@@coasternamegenerator5611 I feel ya. I only get to like 2 or 3 parks a year. So that's why I live vicariously through channels like this one lol
It's not a clone since this one starts atop a tower.
That fricken train lady offered to kiss when i told her it was my birthday then she made everyone on the train sing happy birthday to me
That's nice they sang!
If I ever get up here, I will probably pair this with Glacier National Park.
That makes sense.
Look, I don't know if Idaho is technically a part of the Pacific Northwest, but it doesn't feel like it should be.
I count Idaho as part of it.
Me to
For me the Pacific Northwest is Oregon Washington and Idaho and maybe California
The main cities in Northern Idaho (at least the Coeur d’Alene area, probably also Lewiston and Moscow) are for the most part an extension of the Spokane metro area or are right on the WA/ID border, so I would count it as Pacific Northwest. Not so sure I would say the same about Boise or any of the other major cities in Idaho though; culturally those have far more in common with Utah than the PNW.
If you look at a US map you’ll see that northern Idaho (where Silverwood is located) is definitely PNW, I wouldn’t say southern Idaho is though.
I would love to be your coaster buddy I am also a coaster enthusiast
Nice! Have fun riding coasters.
Underrated coaster lineup but the operations are................
the only ops that are decent are Stunt Pilot, and thats because the moving load platform forces them to be fast!
The crew works hard. I wish they had more staff available. I was stunned the woodies can run with just one op.
RMC TIMBER TERROR 2026 💯💯💯💯
While that would improve the ride, I doubt it happens. It's smooth and popular as is.
