I'm middle-eastern, and where I'm from, we call these pakora. We typically make these in ramadan for iftar as a side dish along with some samosas.

@@nikkisongx it's the spices involved and the method of cooking. Onion bajis are made from spicy hot vegetables and method of cooking which don't give them as crispy of a texture compared to pakoras. I hate onion bajis because of the taste and texture but I like pakoras, they're super crispy on the outside with a thickish sliced slabs of potato and sliced onions inside.

in indonesia we call this ote ote or bakwan, the principle is same, we mix flour, spices, for batter, and add sprout, shredded carrot, cabbage, etc, we usually not measure stuff, it always came out perfect, when you know you know, we eat it with green bird eye chiling for more heat

This made me have a murder mystery finale flashback where I found out what was wrong the entire time. There’s an Indian restaurant in my town. Last month I went there with some friends for one of their birthdays, and I ordered an onion bhaji for a starter. Absolutely delicious. What wasn’t delicious was the yoghurt. I couldn’t understand why my friend liked it, because it tasted like soap to me. Then just now after watching this short it came all back to me and I realised, that in the yoghurt was probably cilantro, which I’ve never had before. I have once again lost the genetic lottery
