Courage, strength, determination: all qualities necessary to successfully challenge a foe such as General Red-for his legions of Red Troopers are notoriously treacherous and powerful. Fortunately, Goku possesses these attributes and more. One need only review his past accomplishments against the Red Ribbon Army to verify his status as a true hero. With its superior resources and technology, the Red Ribbon Army emerged as a mighty force which swept the land like a plague, inflicting death and destruction to all who would not submit to its iron will. Bent on conquest and power, the army set out to obtain the seven mystical dragonballs, they combed all parts of the globe, unleashing a reign of terror that would become its dark legacy, woe to those unfortunate enough to cross Red's path. They struck without warning, laying waste to whole cities and burying the cries of the innocent in a storm of explosions and fire. No one could oppose such invincible evil-until Goku. His was a power unlike any the world had known. Try as they might, not even the Red Ribbon Army could contend with this boy and his power pole. His quest for the dragonballs led Goku into countless conflicts, but one after another his enemies fell. He even found time to make some new friends along the way. The dragonballs were scattered across the farthest reaches of the world, and General Red's unscrupulous methods of acquiring them left no boundary unscarred; but no matter the menace, Goku was there to even the odds and stamp out evil... and he wasn't alone, with allies such as Yamcha, Master Roshi, Puar, Oolong, Bulma, and Launch all at his side to aid the fight for truth, freedom, and justice. It isn't easy, and peril exists at every turn, but no matter the danger-wherever evil raises its ugly head to persecute the innocent, there is one who will always be there to set wrongs right again: Goku, Champion of Good.
It’s hard to believe the impact this moment in the series leaves behind especially with what comes next in Z and beyond kinda makes you wonder after Goku beats them are they truly gone forever?
And then history repeated itself, now there's some jackass with universe-searing power chilling on a rock somewhere because some dipshit wanted 5 more centimeters.
I watched this scene for the first time and all I could say is wow. This scene was in my head all day while I was at work there is no character out there like Goku, Absolutely amazing series. Imagine if there was someone like Goku out there, who rode on the clouds and ruled with an iron rod. A heart pure and innocent, yet strong and courageous. One boy versus the Red Ribbon army, how can you make something like this up?
Imagine to be 6 to 7 years old and watching this first time in the television. The narrator ruined the epic song. I need to wait for many years since 1995 for the youtube to appear so I can hear this again. Thank you God.
The awesomeness of the narration is only matched by the absolute absurdity of the fact that there are actually people whining that the English Dub has the narration to begin with.
Cause It was enough with dubbing the fking song that actually explains the menace of the red Ribbon and the fighting spirit of Goku, or subtitles, but having an obnoxious narrator that repeats whats the series showed itself clear over and over It was unnecesary, but i Guess US likes over exposition, and why he sounded like he was presented news from Fox or something xD
My apologies. It's just that they STILL replace songs in Dragon Ball dubs. It's not the '90s anymore, I'm sure people could enjoy the Japanese songs nowadays.
@gameking8809 Nice recap to those who might have missed a few episodes, and the narration gives a beautiful conclusion to the adventure we the viewers just witnessed
@KajiRider1997 That would be because he was the scientist who created all the technology that Red Ribbon used, Goku ruines his plans for world conquest, so of course he'd be back :) The parts with Gero were taken out of the anime series, although you can find them in the Manga, that's why the Anime when we first here about Gero assumes you know who he is, because you supposedly read the Manga, all this material was written when the Manga was still being published so that's the explanation.
sry, you are completely wrong. The anime takes out no parts of the manga. The character of Dr. Gero was an afterthought. He wasn´t introduced before Trunks appeared.
1:56 rofl....when he went -> His was a power unlike any the world had known,... a power surpassed only by the power of his heart. He journeyed the Earth, battling the minions of his wicked stepmother Hera, the all powerful Queen of the Gods. But, wherever there was evil, wherever an innocent would suffer, there would be: Goku!
That's called censorship and localization. Name changes and joke changes are localized to make more sense in america. Especially back in the early 90s and 80s. Although that is not the case today. Censorship was on luffy's suction cups, simply put it was "too violent" by 4kids standards to have someone shot with an arrow. It's not about racism its all about censoring things the FCC would say is too much for american tv. And localization so things make sense in the us.
I know minor dialog changes aren't important and don't affect the story. I just used to find it really annoying to hear one English term see another one in the subtitles.
They're just minor dialogue so it doesn't matter. I could have to do with the Lipsync as the English dub of Animes have their lines fit better with the character's mouth flaps.
i dont remember kid goku ever saying ''im just a kid'' whenever faced with danger , unlike gohan gotenks and trunks that were twice as tough as kids as goku was! hehe tough kid!!! ;)
i know gt wasnt that good as dragon ball and z but i still loved it cause it helped with the story line so in my eyes i am glad they did it and many people who dont like gt thats why they didnt make anymore in my eyes cause they got slated for it.hope 1 day, they do make more cause i miss it so much even when i got them all on dvd >.
@KajiRider1997 Ok I understand, don't have to get testy though, you should know how hard it is to convey feelings in comments, so of course I didn't get that it was sarcastic...Anyways we both know how little some people know so I'm sorry if I thought you were one more.
THis was one of the most brilliant narration/ music combination of all time. Brings tears
Bro I was crying
Ahh the climatic conclusion to the Commander Red Saga and the Red Ribbon Army arc. This is where Goku finally became a true hero.
They added in the narration to hide the Japanese music as much as they can. Of course anyone can hear the music.
He destroyed that army lmao!!

Dragonbal SUPER SUPERHERO
I'm not sure but I think I watched the ocean dub when I was little. You can't believe how nostalgic it felt when I started reading the Manga.
Rewatching this scene because I just found out Brice Armstrong passed away. RIP.
All this carnage, devastation, apocalyptic future, and the erasure of an entire timeline, because a guy wanted to be taller.
Actually Zamasu had nothing to do with Dr Gero and the red ribbon army

the narration gives goosebumps but it could've been said not when this epic soundtrack was playing
Goku was never so easily killed even as a kid. He has years of battle to prove it.
Kid Naruto would die here
As Magneto in the X-men cartoons would "The brave are always the first to die."
Goku was one brave boy when it comes to fighting the forces of evil.

i Grew up watching the Funimation Dub to i just love Goku's Voice
It's 2022 and this dudes ain't gone yet, they are going now for his grandchild Pan

oh no man!!! sniff
I wrote off the red ribbon army after that sniper head shoted Goku and it annoyed him a bit
Dubbing over this song... was a terrible mistake.
However, Brice Armstrong is a great narrator... so, I don't know what to think of this.
They dont have rights to the song, so thats why the narration is there
he doesnt need it anymore
YEAH GOKU! U CAN DO IT!!!!
@Pro1337ProL33T Why did you think DR,Gero was pissed at Goku in the first place?
He appears later, they gather him up when he's swimming in the sea.
Goku is THE BEST ! ! !
