Missed opportunity for Toei to not re-record/remix this for Super Hero. I even saw someone sync up the opening of the movie with the song and it worked surprisingly well.

Funny thing is, if not for Goku, that world probably would have experienced a massive and costly war to fight them off.

SSJRadioBluth There really wasn't a war. It was just 17 and 18 wreaking havoc on the world just for the fun of it. There's no mention of the Royal Military being deployed against them, though they likely were, but of course they'd be swiftly annihilated. And honestly, you can't even count 17 and 18 as Red Ribbon Army. Gero was the last RRA member, 17 and 18 were just weapons. Saying they were a part of the Red Ribbon Army would be like saying a tank was a part of an army. And if you do want to count them as Red Ribbon, they committed treason by killing Gero, and went AWOL. Technically speaking, the RRA died with Gero.
WAYSH WAWSH they unlike the present androids basically rebelled against their programming but unlike the androids they are full robots with artificial intelligence. They never grew, because logically Trunks described Gero searching for a single warrior to finish his mission of world domination. 17 explicitly states that Gero created them for world domination. Where as the present ones say designed or Krillin does anyway. 17 & 18 are still alive in present in future they were probably lobotimized when Goku died. Goku never dies and actually keeps actively growing so the androids by interference become enhanced humans as 17 was chosen for his prodigious skill as its rumored that more than one set of people went missing. (By Bulma).
17 was made better than Goku explicitly stated by Trunks as Gero's end goal, a single fighter.
18 was kept around to motivate him to learn things like barrier and how to shoot a gun perfectly...
The first thing both do in present is ditch their clothes which have the red ribbon logo embroidered.
After 17 years they still Don the red ribbon clothes occasionally. Meaning they see themselves as red ribbon army irregardless of how we see them.
What you described is war, and based on West City ruins it actually wasnt just one sided at least sometimes they bought enough time for people to escape (and return).

@ in the original future it's heavily implied they are actually androids.
1: their weaker power, (Trunks original speech states Gero was obsessed with a single fighter and Dr. Brief says multiple kids went missing in that region. So 17 the human was chosen for his skill, when Goku dies he can lobotomize them.
2: they wear the red ribbon insignia for 17 years, present ones ditch them within minutes.
3: humans disgust the future androids, 17 does very human behavior throughout their trip. Then 18 is revealed to act even more human when Cell arrives.
4: 17 & 18 never get stronger in the future. 18 got stronger between Cell Games and Buu's arrival. 17 got proportionally stronger to his potential.
17 was chosen because he's superior in ability to Goku, 100% fact maybe not naturally but Gero forced him to keep growing, basically surviving each culling for the sake of his sister.
5: definitively 17 & 18 are confirmed in Super to be their age when they got the experiment done.
17 happens to be 1 year older and if Picollo is right "he hasn't done it yet."
Y'all forget he has a constant psychic link to Kami. I'm sure he knew that for certain.
So 17 seems to be ready at the second year or right before Goku dies. 18 is ready within the year conveniently putting her at the tail end of the 3 years.
In future they're lobotomized in the present their human selves remain intact based on 18 confiding in Krillin over What Gero did. (Based on Krillin's conversation with Goku).
Present are cyborgs because 17's potential the energy barrier potential (unique to him, future Gohan and Supreme Kai until Z ends Cell can only do it because he absorbed 17 then retains the ability) is needed for Goku's escalating strength. Why? Because Goku is being pushed by Gohan for 3 years. Since Gohan knows he's the only survivor. The fact that 17 is as strong as "Kamicollo" implies he was more talented than present Gohan, as within 3 years he was captured and forced to evolve until he could create an indestructible barrier that guaranteed he'd survive the culling and be chosen as the one fighter to exact revenge for Gero. Keeping his sister's freedom in mind the entire time.
That took shots from a God of Destruction.
Goku never dies so Gero is forced to wake them still relying on 17 becoming more powerful 18 also trained I'm sure, but never grew as much. Since she was both Gero's incentive for 17 and 17's motivation to be the one kid to survive.
Remember 3 years is the exact amount of time Goku went from killing an army to becoming the Earth's greatest fighter (except that truck).
Because the Tien-shinhan-Goku fight is the most widely viewed match in Dragon Ball, and the Z reporters capture Picollo vs Goku immediately after.
So it's twisted but Gero gave all the captive kids the same amount of time to do it too. Shivers.
It's dark but it's written into the show incredibly subtly sometimes like Picollo's and Dr. Briefs statements.

As does Android 21, the true combination of a hunger for power and a hunger for everything else.

This is a typical loose association brain does routinely to investigate what's going on. Red was the symbol of the revolution and the Soviet Union. Red Army, plus the Bond tunes in this could bring thoughts about the Cold war era.

one of my fav arcs in the series. Thats when it became dark aside from King Piccolo when they went and barged and broke into peoples and families houses and gunning them down.
This is the same guy who sings the Bioman theme song from the Super Sentai Series.
I knew it sounded familiar! I know Hironobu Kageyama did Changeman along with many DBZ era songs as well so that’s two Sentai singers that worked on the anime.

This battle is everyone willing to die in defense of their planet after Blue finds the monkey boy that destroyed Silver's Army and Pilaf's Kingdom. Notice they go for Bulma immediately. 😂😂😂😂 They attack Bulma outside of her massive alien flying car kingdom whereas they're using old school trucks and tanks and shit! Bringing back the submarine! LoL which Bulma describes as ancient.

The Red Ribbon Army think Bulma is the secret emperor of the universe after striking deals with multiple alien races to conquer Earth for her then killing off the Previous Emperor with her time traveling son. That Gero had to overhear and clearly was feeding the info to his funder Magenta. Including every detail about Cell being used as the ultimate plan to defeat the Evil Empress by taking out her generals. 🤣
Why Cell was more interested in fighting after absorbing 17 probably only has to do with who 17 as a person is. Since even in Dragon Ball Super Dende, 18, Krillin and even Goku himself see many similarities between them. And him training against the Cell Juniors for decades when they were already stronger than the Saiyans. AND IF CELL GOT A ZENKAI from his non-nuclei death, juniors also did. 17 just wanted to be the best. Cell wanted to save the world. 😂😂😂😂
