the thing with OLED is, the higher the brightness and color vibrance/saturation, the faster it'll degrade. so u're doing amazing job by using black wallpaper
as long as u don't keep a still image for too long or playing the same game everyday where ui elements never change, it would take 2 or 3 years to see degradation. i've used my pg27aqdm for over 1 year with 15 hours daily usage, good as new

Schrodinger's Burn-in is a state of being in which an OLED monitor is both burned in and not burned in. It is burned is if you expect it to be, but it is not burned in if you do not expect it to be.
Apparantly WOLED displays are less prone to burn-in than QD-OLED, because WOLED displays are made by LG and they are the pioneers in OLED technology. QD-OLED displays are made by Samsung, which for some reason have a history of burn-in in their displays. My Samsung S7 also had burn-in. Would like to see a 6 month burn-in test with a QD-OLED monitor to see if there's a difference really. Monitors Unboxed and others reported noticing burn-in in their QD-OLED tests.
Monitors Unboxed uses his for 100% productivity work, and is intentionally not taking any special precautions compared to how he would have used and LCD, thereby making it a Worst-Case Scenario!
My first gen oled LG CX 48 has 3120+ hours, and yea same usecase as yours, 0 burn in, and ik a friend in India, she has both the 2nd gen LG C1 and 3rd gen lg oled LG C2 (same as yours) with both more than 6000 hours, 0 burn in ofc. Another anecdote is my friend in the nordic, he has a 2nd gen Samsung's QD-oled panel for at least 4-5000 hours doing social media management work, email etc, no burn-ins. So yea, just keep the oled care features on, don't force ur brightness to 100% + HDR on a solid white or solid image object and ur gucci (aka common sense). Also a side note, yes oled does have burn-in, but not to a degree that you as a regular average joe consumer should really has to be on the constant look out about, so yea just get oled for productivity, code, whatever man, just use common sense like I listed above and ur good, cuz from the 3rd generation oled onwards they had truly got this burn-in issue under control, that's why they are confident with their 3y warranty.
I ended up returning that one and bought a new one. Thanks to Amazons return policy. And with the new one I have not had those issues at all. I think my first one was a lemon.

Oled monitor get a lot better software, preventing burn in time, moving pixels feature etc. Im using laptop with OLED screen from Asus. 2 years using it, are the same screen, no dead pixels.
13 months ago I picked the OLED LG C3 48" it will do 4096x2160 @120Hz with a pixel response of .1ms, it also supports 12 bits of color per channel so it good for almost 69 billion colors in the pallet, as it had the best price to performance ratio based on displayable pixels. I paired it with the 4070ti super and had to use a 80-dollar 4' HDMI 2.1 cable. The 4070ti super hit the sweet spot for the price to performance ratio as last year was too close to buy anything higher end as the 50 series GPUs were too close to being launched.
The biggest drawbacks to OLED computer monitors are VRR flicker and low nits lackluster HDR. Reviewers do not speak much about these two glaring issues. Mini LED for monitor and OLED for television makes more sense to me.
I don't have much issue with it on this particular panel since the "anti flicker" feature limits the VRR range and my system is pretty powerful. But i've tested some panels (m10s) that have horrible flicker and it is definitely an issue on OLED.
Nothing makes sense all panels have problems. OLED have VRR flicker , Burj in, lose brightness after years, reflection problems , Mini led have problems like Fan noise and Terrible ghosting and blur watching movie it's ok but playing games it's like an old VA panel . Also there is blooming. There is no solution. It depends by the usage, IPS are perfect balance for Productivity Monitors for day and Night use with Antiglare coating , Oleds are perfect for night use and fast competitive games, and VA or mini led panels are great for Day use watching Movies.
1250 hours on my 240hz WOLED since April. been playing lots of different games/different content. was babying it from the start but now I've really been enjoying it with anything I do (except movies with black bars). still looking good while running at 67 brightness or 120 nits.
Imagine owning a display device and worrying about what type of content it displays because the content might nuke it. lmaoooooo you cannot make this stuff up!!! hahahaha
I have years on my tv with a ton of usage, and even then its the least of what i expect. Come back when its 6 years not 6 months old, then we can compare the results
If you do productivity, and want an oled... Rather just buy a tv instead. Pros : - Cheaper - more versatile (tv) - bigger (we all know it all comes to the size at the end) - more immersive and more enjoyable HDR experience Cons - some manufacturers like LG are bit shady when it comes to burn in cover (in other words, dont cover it) The price you paid for that Asus monitor, could potentially buy almost 2 of 42 " LG C4s. (Referring to the prices during black friday sales)
Since when does productivity equal color work that you'd need "immersive " and "hdr" experience tho? Additionally, color edditors work in SDR mainly. I can even let you know of the standarized color ranges if you need me to. It is smoother to even write damn code on higher hz. Its more responsive at everything and of course games you throw at it too. We're talking about monitors here. Why would I do any type of productivity/work using any type of HDR/color modifiers ON A 42 INCH monitor burning on my face ? I'd have to sit 4 meters away.
Cons: the auto brightness limiter cannot be disabled on most TVs except by voiding your warranty by going into the service menu, which requires you to buy a special remote to access it in the first place.
Sry but 6 months is no indicator for monitor. My 15y old lcd monitor is still the same as in day one. Lets see how this monitor looks after only 5 years
Most people upgrade within 3 years so who cares what it will look like after 5 years.... If that is the scenario, most of us would still use CRT monitors lol

the amount of measures and compromises you have to take with oled to reduce burn-in on £1000+ monitors that will STILL inevitably burn in and become defective is insane. buying oled monitors is so stupid. in the next year or 2 I guarantee there will be a push back on oled monitors when all these people finally see that burn-in does exist and their £1000 monitor is now worth nothing and complete e-waste after they buy a new one

What monitor mount/stand do you have? It looks awesome in combo with the monitor and desk. Great video! Newer gen OLED’s have come a long way to with anti-burn in tech. It’ll be interesting to see the current crop of OLED’s when heavier users report back burn in results in a couple years

I have a OLED screen on my Lenovo X1 laptop that i use for work, so Windows 11 productivity only. After more than 2 years of work daily use (9-10 hours) and thus many many many hours there is no burn-in at all.

Been using the 27aqdm since its launch, basically two years and no burn in so far
I really want the same monitor you are using but with glossy screen not matte ( I don’t know when LG gonna make glossy WOLED monitor )
Yes I tried the matte WOLED and the glossy QD-OLED ( I really loved the WOLED for its colour and brightness and the black leaves are incredible good the only downside it’s comes with a matte screen I can really see the difference between it and the glossy QD-OLED I don’t know how to explain it but the glossy screen are so clear than the matte screen it’s actually a big difference between them so why they are no option for a glossy WOLED SCREEN !?
I so the asus WOLED with semi-glossy screen it’s good but only comes in 27in and 144hz and 2k resolution so I am begging LG to bring the 32in 4k/1080p 240/420hz GLOSSY WOLED 0.03ms please make that dream come true LG
Got the Alienware 32 inch OLED just recently and was a bit wary of burn in but this makes me feel better, especially with the 2 year burn in warranty
I have the exact same monitor and the warranty is 3 years
Amazing monitor
Also after 4 hours of use automatically when you turn it off it will do a pixel refresh to prevent burn in and also has panel refresh but I dont recommend you do it frequently
For 3 years warranty in OLED monitors is perfect! I upgrade every almost 3 years
the thing with OLED is, the higher the brightness and color vibrance/saturation, the faster it'll degrade. so u're doing amazing job by using black wallpaper
as long as u don't keep a still image for too long or playing the same game everyday where ui elements never change, it would take 2 or 3 years to see degradation. i've used my pg27aqdm for over 1 year with 15 hours daily usage, good as new
good. keep us updated. in next 3 months?
What if you play old games with 4:3 ratio? I have done this for 8 hours on my AORUS FO32U2 and I had temporally Burn In, but after pixelclean it went away. ut I think, if I do this often, it will be permanent. ecause at some pont the display hat no headroom left to highten the voltage any further to compensate the brightness loss.
Question do I need DisplayWidget Centre or can I just use the monitors buttons?
Basically are there any features that are exclusive to the app? (I’d rather not install any ASUS software tbh)
i do not use the displaywidget app. There are actually more settings in the OSD than in the software. so i would recommend just using that

I have had my pg32ucdm for like 8 months. Don't notice any burn in. But I'm really good at taking care of my stuff.

As good as oleds tend to look they just are no match against the durability of a good lcd. Bought my 34 inch ultrawide nano ips back in 2018 or something and it still shows the same imagequality. Im not sure oled is gonna do the same.
If ill ever upgrade its to get a 5120x1440 or ...x2160 miniled high refresh rate ips screen. Until a panel like that hits the market ill be sticking with my current monitor.
Also if youre experiencing image retention after 6 months of careful use that would have really been a problem
With those solid color, I can see all the burn in on my phone which uses a amoled screen but yeah my Samsung s9 phone is quite old lol and this is expected.

All my samsung phones Note 3, S9 and S20 had burn in. But it wasn't a big issue in day to day use. Only if you look for it
@steffenkawa8374 yeah they will all show signs eventually its the organic nature of OLED
Monitors Unboxed uses his for 100% productivity work, and is intentionally not taking any special precautions compared to how he would have used and LCD, thereby making it a Worst-Case Scenario!

200 hours? it's 2 weeks days for my usage :D

Agree think oled got more annoying issues in daily use than IPS not mentioned i.e. ABL low HDR compared to IPS panels and poor near black performance.
It depends by the usage, IPS are perfect balance for Productivity Monitors for day and Night use with Antiglare coating , Oleds are perfect for night use and fast competitive games, and VA or mini led panels are great for Day use watching Movies.
when i'll be rich, i won't tell anyone, but there will be signs.

If you do productivity, and want an oled... Rather just buy a tv instead.
Pros :
- Cheaper
- more versatile (tv)
- bigger (we all know it all comes to the size at the end)
- more immersive and more enjoyable HDR experience
Cons
- some manufacturers like LG are bit shady when it comes to burn in cover (in other words, dont cover it)
The price you paid for that Asus monitor, could potentially buy almost 2 of 42 " LG C4s.
Nah low dpi compared to IPS terrible for coding or text work!
