Yeah the fact that the goty winner got to speak for 30 seconds and couldnt even get enough time to announce the game was releasing on xbox is a problem
devs stated that only certain builds are meant to play the Abattoir.... well.. what if I don't play those builds....? so ....going on the same trap as D3, where I HAVE to play what they want.
@@Guitarman5705 D3 was and is the best Multiplayer ARPG by a million miles, and not the best single player ARPG out there D4 is the worst single player ARPG out there, in a multiplayer world Do you see where they got it all wrong ? They should have just stayed being the best multiplayer ARPG out there , then at least they had a identity
I'm surprised that you didn't mention the trailer for "No rest for the Wicked", the new ARPG developed by the Ori "and the blind forest" / "Will of the wisp" team. I'm digging the art style and the feel of the trailer.
@@MrLove-666 Oh of course! They bring out some big words to create hype and it is easy to fall for it. Let's hope that the showcase in March will bring some more light to what they mean with reinventing the genre.
@@DragonOfDrakness1992Exactly. Sometimes (especially only through texting, so harder to tell) we are viewed as downers, where in fact, it's the companies that made us falling down. Crossing fingers that it will be good. But good enough to beat D4 (easy right now) and Poe (harder).. I won't bet on it yet.
I feel similar to you about AoZ. I just want to push my build but I don't want to spend another 100 hours just to get lvl 50 and then the glyph gets deleted soon anyways. If the glyph naturally leveled to 50 with me just pushing tiers, then it would be great.
I would think the concern for having a PTR is: if "most" all the content is in the PTR then the No-life content creators will do what they "do best" reduce every facet of the new content down to a tier list and math equation telling every person what to do. as someone who feels that a meta is smothering and removes player freedom, expression, experimentation. A PTR especially for those No-Life or "this game is my job" players means that there is no real value in experimentation and exploration by the average player because the game has already be "Solved" before it the content is actually available.
@@gardian06_85 This makes no sense to me at all. Following a meta or not is the players choice. The content creators are gonna create tier lists all the same, with or without a PTR. I don't think theres any real downside to a PTR that outweighs the positive impact it could have on the game.
@@vael_I agree. I sometimes watch or read build guides to see if there is some interaction I’m missing on a similar build I have made but otherwise play what’s fun. I made my own Druid companion build this season since so many of the vampire powers work well with pets. And it was a blast until about T85+. Im sure I could tweak it more but that is about 98% of the play experience for E. The meta would just say it isn’t viable at all.
@@vael_ in todays culture the likelihood of actual emergent player action is far reduced by the prevalence of content creation. the number of communities I have seen and been involved in where "Hey, how does X work with T" gets a response of "THAT ISN"T META GO FOLLOW THE META" then these same communities take weeks, months, or sometimes years to even examine something that some meta-tier-list-maker thought was "just bad" when it was a literal example of "Skill issue". all the while that person asking the question being told "That isn't meta, and is just bad". then this process repeats every cycle at least when the content is released simultaneously there is a chance that more then just the no-life or "this game is my job" players get the same chance to interact with it. on top of all that when even D3 and WoW have PTRs the majority of feedback they get when they get any is mostly "why are you making this worse" or "thing X needs to be just better" do some people give good feedback sure, but that isn't most of the replies. D3 response time was often 2 weeks, and sometimes a month even when it was still in active support. D4 was able to respond to the issues within 48 hours. Would a PTR put that 48 hours before the release sure. D4 is a very different game to D3 where these situations would have only been realized with a max level character, and to have a character of that power in D3 would take a few days, and with PTR buffs a few hours. the progress of D4 to just reach max level is a lot longer and that isn't even gearing, and optimizing. then there are actually players that complain the progression rate of leveling to be too long in D4 and having an accelerated rate in PTR would incentivize those players to complain even more about the default progression rate (for some players almost any amount of time before "end game" is too long)
My big problem with Abattoir was exactly what I predicted it would be when the devs advertised it as "bring your lvl 100 ball lightning sorc." I knew they would just make something over-tuned to where the sorc would have a problem and most every other build would be screwed rather than introducing mechanics that would specifically challenge the build taking advantage of a game bug without making it an unfun experience for everyone else.
And even if you are able to run Tier 1 a few times, you then don't get ANY new tools IN the zone to do higher Tiers. If you can get your foot in the door on this type of content, there should then be a way to progress IN that content. Otherwise it's just down to dumb luck and fishing for perfect pylons, perfect mob types, and perfect bloodseekers.
I personally see two ways they could resolve the time limit issue. 1: give everyone on stage about 2-3mins of time Or 2: Ask every nominees to write a speech before and record it and see how each of them would take to say. Not perfect maybe but I think it’s a good middle ground.
Thanks for the vid @Rhykker! Since you are part of a nice team communicating with D4 Devs, if you want to tell them for next season onward to add an aspect for Incinerate: becomes a ring of fire that AoE increase with the level of the skill, and then like Righteous Fire, kills enemies by walking through them. What do you think? Perhaps lots will try it out :) Keep up the good work!
AoZ was a huge mistake. First of all, it wasn't ready for launch. Wasn't it said that only a small number do past NM50? So if only a few people are doing that, what number of people can do an AoZ? One shots just should not be in ARPGs. This isn't Dark Souls. The only positive is that MAYBE this will help Blizzard balance classes? Maybe? I mean, maybe they will see that maybe Hota and BL are too powerful, or that other classes are just not viable. That isn't fun for the player, so maybe things will be rebalanced. I feel all of the D4 issues could benefit from a PTR. Why they don't do that is just mind blowing. Testing things this way isn't a good idea. Sure, we know it is them testing, but too many of us are unhappy with it. So now where Season 2 had a fairly good image.. it wasn't great, but such an improvement from Season 1, now however we have AoZ as the thing we are thinking about it and so now yet another negative image of D4. Just start using a PTR. A AoZ lvl 1 should be similar to a NM70, then an AoZ2 should be NM75 a AoZ3 a NM 80 and so forth.
im liking the zir stuff to quicky level up normal glyphs, unlock the new glyph, and thats it. i got all my glyphs to 15 by the time i hit 100, so i never put the time in to get them all to 21. now i can do that relatively quickly on t1, do a bit of a change up to slot in the new glyph, and move on. cool little event but for sure not a long term solution, especially with the TERRIBLE exp scaling on the new glyph.
I ran AoZ on release day, made it through level 4. Several deaths (1 shots), now I know I was fighting with de-leveled glyphs...lol. Ran the new/updated one yesterday. Ran a level 4 again and completed it, it does seem a little easier now. IDK if its was because of the changes *or* having fully leveled glyphs. Most likely a combination. Oh, Ball Lightning Sorc btw.
What is so hard to understand? Night's Grasp will be a debuff. Suffer 30 seconds of penalty (likely a speed penalty to attack and/or movement) then get 12 seconds of buff. The Midwinter Ward will reduce the duration of the Grasp debuff allowing someone making rapid kills to spend more time under the buff than the debuff. Do I know for sure that's it? No, but that's usually how these things work.
As a HotA barb I might be a bit biased since HotA is so OP this season but AoZ really isn’t bad. Sure it’s a bit repetitive and like others have pointed out, there’s a frustrating lack of reward. But the run and gun no objective play style is MUCH better than NMDs, I found it hard to start up and go through some NMDs after doing AoZ for a bit. The only complaints I have are again, the rewards, the difficulty of the blood seekers, and the glyph XP even after the patch. It’s still not NEARLY enough considering this thing can lvl 200 times. At lvl8, it takes about 15+ t5-7 runs to level it up once. That is just way too much and not all builds can push past 10-15 to get more XP which even THEN isn’t nearly enough. At lvl 50 it’s like 350k XP. But I think people forget that this is just a test. Everyone’s treating it like a main feature of the game when it’s VERY clear they’re testing this out to see how people like it. People need to keep that in mind when approaching it.
Well, I tried AOZ… and for me the only reason to do it would be the title at level 20 because there aren’t any other rewards. So I would have to spend like 50-100 hours to get the glyph to level 50… and then I still don’t know if my gear would be good enough for level 20. I’m almost stupid enough to do it… but I seriously think that it’s better when most players only try it for a few hours and then boycott it… so that next time it won’t be such a pointless waste of time.
i havent tried the hotfixed AoZ because of the PoE league, and playing the PoE league makes me a little bit sad that D4 is in the state its in. but also hopeful that we eventually get a fully fleshed out game/end game in a year or so
I think I'm gonna go give this PoE thing a try. I love Diablo 4 and don't have many problems with it so if PoE is even better than logic dictates I'll love PoE.
@@SilentDr34m Depends on what you mean by boring. Diablo 3 and 4 were boring, and by contrast, Path of Exile is much more exciting once you feel that progression ball start rolling. But all in all, there's no point to playing D4 over POE. POE is just better over all
On D4... I pre-ordered for the 1st time in over a decade and I defend what they put out. I cared enough that I gave legit, productive feedback and I have defended it in person and online. It's not awful and I still think the feel, world-building and campaign are underrated. That said, I quit already and am happy that I did! I'm not going back ever, whatever they do next. For anyone who hasn't tried POE, please do. It has much more depth, challenge, complexity, reward and heart than d4. Honestly. *Edit: It's also easy to grasp for Diablo or RPG players* Everything I loved about Diablo is there in droves. The Division 2 is also a great example of 'live service' done well and it's pretty cheap in sales these days. Happy gaming everyone & thanks Rhykker for accompanying me through d3 for all these years 👍👍
no one has space in the chest that is occupied with aspects and equipment. This is one of the main problems that prevent players from creating other characters....I hope they solve this because just the basic license was extremely expensive. Blizzard is still in great disrepute....
I think D4 are making great progress. Myself got to lvl 83 this season but feel nothing pulling me back to go play this mode. I think D4 needs big overhaul like the itemization rework but also more. At this point I think I will give the game a year and try it again after the expansion.
Always a great recap of the news that matters :) I still haven't fully recovered from the glyph thing as a casual. I don't think consoles were not patched properly and it takes me a week at least to level a glyph from 15 to 21, so I have 5 to go for the final season chapter - this was delayed even more when all of my glyphs were knocked back 2 levels, and most knocked lower than 15, ruining my paragon. I keep hearing 'just relevel them' like it is quick and easy - but for a lot of players it is a huge time vampire. Looks like I will never see the Abattoir which is kind of sad since I was getting close.
My bigges issues with Abattoir of Zir was 1. On my ball lighting sorc i could solo all content in the game before this came out, and then i couldnt even complete level one. 2. It's way too expsive to craft just 1 sigil..
Forget about the hotfix. I haven't tried and I'm not even considering setting foot in AoZ. I'm an old man now. I'm tired of endless grinds, never being able to finalize any of my characters. I hate that developers keep coming with systems and mechanics with the sole purpose of keeping players online as long as possible without considering at all if time spent with the software product will be fun or not. On the contrary - frustration, inevitability, "FOMO" etc. are what's forcing players to stay for as long as they can endure until eventually they give up and go away for good. I strongly believe there's another way. If a game is so engrossing and entertaining, if activities are fun and challenging in a balanced way, players will stick with the game in a natural way. There's no need to force anybody do anything.
I find my self in the same situation , i like games that have ethernal league and not seasonal, would be great if D4 would transfer season to ethernal realm so i can enjoy also all the game in my rythm. Also a great game but older with no seasons it s Grim Dawn if you want to try.
@@ionrazvan126 Playing Grim Dawn since 2017. Crate are something else. Gotta love the mile-long patch notes which actually shift the meta in interesting ways.
I played a ton of Blizzard games as a child and well into adulthood. It pains me to say that I strategically did not play D4 to save my own sanity. I knew it was going to be a flop. How could the company that died long ago make a game like they used to? It simple cant be done. Blizzards time of making good games is behind them. Thankfully there are a few gaming studios out there making good games. Blizzard is teaching me the most valuable skill of all -- patience. I skipped D4 and am jumping ship to POE2. I'll wait a bit longer to play a good game again.
my biggest hype was for the visions of mana announcement trailer that came out of nowhere and i'm always hype for new FF7 rebirth news but i didn't want to spoil myself too much so i didn't pay too much attention to it ^^
It's really sad that the Game of the Year awards is being commercialized. Some execs figured out that these shows draw a lot of attention so they're being turned into _a production_ to wow, distract, and entertain while also advertising a new game or some other goods and services during commercial breaks. I really hope that this is addressed or I could see developers refusing to participate. Which would sorta defeat the point of the awards shows in the first place.
Don’t understand why each class has only a few viable builds for the endgame, in some cases only one build. We should be able to build whatever we want however we want and be able to complete all content. No point in playing Diablo otherwise, I don’t want the same build as everyone using the same class as me.
Also the fact that the game eliminates the concept of build archetypes and forces you to build a tank. What kind of tank is up to you, you can make a pure tank or a more DPS focused tank but if your armor isn't XXX amount then you cant do endgame content. Making a character with 30k attack and 3k armor should just come with it's own set of challenges but instead it isn't even viable. Why? Not tanky enough. Now go build a tank, and don't forget your disobedience aspect!
Probably because you have to pay people to work and you have to hire equipment and venues, and because nobody wants to listen to an award winner waffle on for too long. Not to say they couldn't be less stingy with time.
Didn't/not checking out the new D4 end game content. Simply not for me (and that's ok), I loath the nightmare/glyph grind. I'll be back in a couple seasons when they fix itemization/stash. I enjoy leveling/open world, but once you hit ~70 it stops being fun for me, and as is, it's to much of a hassle to try other builds. To many other choices in games I find fun, so D4 is shelved for now.
I tried post-patch. Made it to tier 7. I tried twice, the 2nd time I was doing well against the cold spiders, and I died with no explanation. Everything around me was dead. I have no way of becoming better or avoiding damage if I have no idea what happened to me. I was done after that.
Lol.. The Red Wedding was already well known due to the book having published more than 10 years before. I'm not sure how so many people avoided that spoiler they were pretty popular books. Friend of mine had thrown is book across the room after reading it lol..
Production shows like this given the choice is always going to pick the smaller amount of time since it cost money to extend the show with less ads and whatnot. I honestly personally think that a 1 minute 30 seconds is enough time to make a great speech about your game. To be honest I bet they didn't even tell anybody how much time they would have until the show actually started.
It's a glancing blow. The game will get better as we go along just like d3 did. I'm excited for the new season of d3 though, more than I am for season 3 of d4.
I've no desire to ever try AoZ even once. I also resent Blizzard for once again locking away the best item in the game behind content that only a small percentage of their players can even complete. As for the event, the potion is the ONLY thing desirable in it. I will absolutely be hoarding these. I'd rather a handful of useful crafting mats than any cosmetic item.
Compared to season 1 this is a huge step forward but..... I have leveled 2 characters to 100 a HOTA Barb and Pulv Druid, completed about 200 Duriel runs with no uber uniques to speak of, grinded all of my relevant glyphs to lev 21, can easily clear NM 100 content, still have yet to find boots and chest piece that I need to make all my gear slots perfect, spent 100's of millions of gold rerolling only to be let down with the roll I settled on etc.. When I log in, I am met with the dread of having to grind mind numbing whispers and hell tides only to be let down with 0 drops.. The idea of grinding more enhanced nightmare dungeons is unimaginable to me which is why I have never and will never enter into one of these waste of time NM dungeons. I will likely be taking a break until season 3 comes around. Really hope the devs come up with something a little more imaginative and fun in the future.
My Bone Spear Necro comes thru AoZ like a storm in 1/4 of timer, made from level 1 to 5 without failure, but 0.02% upgrade to glyph per level? No point of making endless runs. I archived what I wanted this season. And yes, when you get glyph and put it in Paragon board upgrade is MASSIVE. For example in helltides entire screen dies from just being there, idle events and so on ;-)
As for new games announced I'm most excited for Jurassic Park Survival. I'm also curious to see more of Blade. For other things, happy about God of War Ragnarök Valhalla and FFXVI expansions/DLC.
I've done everything in D4 except for AoZ, it's at that point where it's too grindy for what it's worth and I'd rather spend that time leveling a different character or playing another game. Happy for those that enjoy massive grind and challenge, but it's not for me. Getting to 100 was boring enough.
From a consumer point of view of the GTA leak, getting something like a trailer earlier is pretty much always a good thing. The people who "suffer" from leaks like this, are people trying to profit off the control of that information. Is it their right to try to profit off that information? Sure. It's still a very "corpo" thing to do though. The zeitgeist stuff I don't think is really relevant, what other people you have no interaction with are doing at the same time as you just isn't something most people think about, and this is still a moment that can be shared between friends and discussed even if they watched the trailer hours or days apart. The "moment" is not seconds long, it can be days or weeks. I've seen this covered by a few channels and this is the first "negative take" I've seen on the leak so far. I understand where it's coming from, it makes sense given your connection to the industry, but I think more people were excited about getting the trailer earlier than were disappointed about exclusive media deals potentially falling through and a multi-billion dollar company getting their panties twisted.
I'm surprised you didn't mention No Rest for the Wicked! Amazingly artistically beautiful game by the creators of Ori and the Blind Forest, that looks like it's gonna be some kind of action rpg! That was my highlight of the Games Award, along with Visions of Mana
I did a lvl 5 AoZ killed all the Mobs and the 3 Bloodseekers and the last seeker had an on death explosion that killed me 3 sec after every monster was dead and it failed me.
I have no more sympathy for them. I hope this doesn't come off like I am saying "you" are the problem when I say they need to stop listening to content creators. You aren't gamers in the same way regular gamers are. Neither am I. We spend hours a day on the same game, over and over, we tend to like things harder and grindier. We tend to be a bit more talented when it comes to performing in games. We are NOT the people to balance things. I know this first hand after 10+ years at various studios in the SCEA (Now Sony Worldwide) family. They keep making basic design and development issues that first and second year people would be making. It shows their dev team, and I am going to guess a lot of their middle management team are either underperformers or new to the industry. The ideas are not well thought out. Season 2 worked, and I believe it worked not because it was fun or innovative but because they did the one basic thing most designers with experience try to do, tying multiple activities and rewards together in symbiosis. In doing so, they made the game feel in sync which made the game feel better. With AoZ they honestly went back to the dumb decision making they had at launch and S1. They tried to give a low effort cut and paste system from previous titles. Only they took the things we LIKED about Rifts, and just left the part we hated. I really think they believe that the only ARPG fans are ones that want endless grinds for no reason. That's a very simpleton way to look at the problem, and shows a real lack of understanding the player base. Last but not least Blizzard, really hope you are listening since I gave you feedback in beta about ALL OF THIS, and everything I said was wrong, is wrong today... STOP WITH THE QUASI MMO. Either go and create a full blown Diablo MMO, and stop pushing "dungeons" and "group events" in D4 or do what you wanted from the start and make D4 an MMO. The genre for MMO's doesn't work when it tries to sit in the middle of Single/Small Group and "Large Scale" the systems don't mesh.
Diablo series has an instant death issue. Simply just make it to where you cant take more than 90% of your health in one hit. If not have fun being one shot in diablo 7 electric boogaloo.
And put a stop to 90% of everything blowing up when it dies. Many of those explosions on seemingly random timers. The ones that give any sort of visual indicator that they are going to happen are usually hidden beneath bodies. I should never be randomly dying to something that I killed 5 seconds ago. I really shouldn't be dying to something I killed at all. Stuff that dies doesn't need to get one last shot at revenge.
It's a miss for me. I had a lot of fun with S2. Got 3 lvl 100s, had fun with the new bosses and blood harvests, finally beat Uber Lilith and nmd t100, but I was already done by the time AoZ came out and after beating tier 1 I decided was still done lol. It just wasn't enough to draw me back in, but that's okay
I don't think the D4 devs have a clue what the players actually want. They hear "We want a challenge", and the only thing they can think of is 1-shot mechanics. I genuinely don't think the game can be turned around with the current team.
some announcement were surprising, like Twin Motion's wind blown, Atlus' metaphor then the unexpected, Arc Sys drops Elpelth out of no where for GGST and Hyper Glyph actually bring Endfield to PS 5. The rest is not so much for me, probably Vision of Mana? But modern SE is weird, so cautiously optimistic. And yea they really should evaluate TGA, i'm honestly thinking this is just money burning event instead of appreciation to Dev and gamers
I stopped playing D4 because no of the builds I like playing are not able to even tier 80 nightmare dungeons. So by focusing on challenges for meta builds I have even more content I'll never be able to do. Maybe in 2-3 more leagues I'll have enough content.
I like how you say we need to give feedback to blizzard, but we keep doing this, we even give them notes on what to develop that would go down really well and they keep missing the mark. I feel like the people there aren't gamers or interrested in ARPG's... At some point they must realise theyare not doing good.
I was hoping the dungeon and glyph would've been more akin to a rouge-like experience. For pinnacle content that would feel natural it would be varied by each run and it can test builds. What we got tho is just oof. Not bad but not fantastic
Do you think the Baldur's gate developers are dubble dipping by releasing on XBox later? Of course releasing for PC (with near-infite numbers of graphics cards, processors, etc) takes more time than for just a few known platforms.
I cannot agree with Rhykker more about recognizing the development teams that focus more on gameplay and less on monetary gain. For those who are looking for another game and development team that does that, please look at Remnant 2 by Gunfire Games. Different game style, but so much content with no microtransactions or other nonsense.
Regarding AoZ in D4... I've been level 100 for a long time but I would struggle to even complete a level 80 NM dungeon and haven't completed the last level of the season journey. This makes the new content feel super out of reach for me and I do not want to put in the time and effort to get there. Based on this reporting, it sounds like this is the right choice.
AOZ is a thing for maybe a week and that's it They are fixing it little by little But there are many things that need to be fixed Ways to get glyphs other than just with powder, and also lower the powder cost to buy them. There needs to be 925 loot drop only and higher chances for ubers It's latest of late game and you need that loot just to attempt bitting it Plus, ubers give it a reason to keep beating it. Otherwise, there are not many reasons to keep beating it
If D4 had a proper crafting system where you can actually make good items instead of just hoping for god tier drops it would be a lot more engaging and worth grinding for.
Nothing the D4 devs have done to the game after launch has made me want to play it again. I logged out before season 1 even started and haven't been back on. I personally don't think I even got my money's worth. I felt like it was a waste of time. Almost everything in the game is lackluster or outright boring. Sure it has that blizzard finish, but it feels like they forgot to make the game before they added that finish.
The fact that the voice actor for Lorath got SNUBBED was just one screw up by The Gaming Awards.....with that said maybe I SHOULD check out Baulders Gate 3 😁😁
It just feels generic adding some half-baked not very interesting mechanic to the game at the end of a season. If they want to test stuff like that, add a test server so people can help them test it. But adding AOZ in the game just feels like a buggy boring mechanic they had no intention of polishing, why even have it it the game?
The game awards were a joke, first 2am for us in Europe, then cyberpunk best "ongoing" game didn't know releasing an expansion suddenly truned it into an ongoing game, then only giving 30 seconds for developers to talk IF you even got that chance and your award wasn't just part of a rapid fire segment. and lastly absolutely no mention of the layoffs happening in the industry.
for pinnacle end game content they need to add mechanics not Op monsters for OP builds if they would've made the AoZ to give a similar experience to the fight against lilith it would've been better just add stuff that take 30-40% hp and make a lot of them, so that you actually have to dodge, avoid rushing into a mob and kill everything, make the mobs resist your damage like 5-6 shots of core skill not just 1-2 hits and then it will be fun Stacking stats like an idiot is not fun is a chore
There should be legal recourse for a game company that suffers a leak like that. I say this because the leak had to come from the inside. ETA: Good thing I didn't watch the awards show this year! Seems like it was pretty underwhelming.
I've been playing D4 for a couple weeks and it plays really well on Ps5, better than poe. They do need to make itemization more exciting. I havent got to AOZ yet, but it sounds awkard with NM dungeons. Id like them to add more life in game. And maybe some life to pvp. Blizzard has always excelled in pvp, id love to see them take a risk and add a warsong gulch and see how that goes 😅😂
The whole thing about AoZ being "testing" is that...we paid for an entertaining game. There was never any expectation (at least, not explicit lol) that we'd be doing testing for this ENORMOUS entertainment company. It is heartening to see all the in-touch community interactions out of Big Blue these days, but...at the end of the day, if your entertainment company can't...provide entertainment for the costs they ask...what are you even doing? I say all of this from a long time Blizzard fan, of course...I'm so deep into their corner it's shocking. Well, here's hoping for the "Microsoft Era."
Hey, at least you're not paying to test. That was the previous 10 or so years of World of Warcraft, people were paying to beta test the game. New stuff would hit test realm or a new expansion would drop, players would tell Blizz what was wrong, Devs would basically reply with "LOLZ WORKING AS INTENDED LERN 2 PLAY ST00PID NEWB!" Then the new content would launch, the community said the same thing the test server people did, and finally towards the end of the expansion (when it didn't matter any more) Bliz would fix everything to what people said it should have been ages before.
@@PR2k9 - that's what a test server and quality control is supposed to be for. No, seasons are not supposed to be a testing ground. Your player base should never be looked at as your testers unless they're being specifically told that is their role.
The Game Awards this year were less about awarding the devs the respect and honor they deserve and more about being a giant advert for upcoming games.. 😒

devs stated that only certain builds are meant to play the Abattoir.... well.. what if I don't play those builds....? so ....going on the same trap as D3, where I HAVE to play what they want.
They don't understand the appeal of an arpg it seems, freedom in build crafting is a pillar not playing a dev supported build
@@Guitarman5705 D3 was and is the best Multiplayer ARPG by a million miles, and not the best single player ARPG out there
D4 is the worst single player ARPG out there, in a multiplayer world
Do you see where they got it all wrong ?
They should have just stayed being the best multiplayer ARPG out there , then at least they had a identity
@@gratefulkmD3 and D4 both are trash
d3 best arpg? I’m not sure how repetitive gameplay is fun.
@@malzagod1429 D3 is the best multiplayer game, MULTIPLAYER, argue the point I made, not COD is a better shooter than POE
Thanks Rhykker for all the great content that you post. I don't usually leave comments, but this time I just felt like thanking you for everything 🙂
Thank you very much and have a great weekend :)
Wrap it up! :P
I'm surprised that you didn't mention the trailer for "No rest for the Wicked", the new ARPG developed by the Ori "and the blind forest" / "Will of the wisp" team.
I'm digging the art style and the feel of the trailer.
Oh my god I forgot, yes super hyped for that
Seems meh, they even want to reinvent the genre.. I don't toss it in garbage yet, we'll see how it goes.
I really don't understand D4 team's adversion to a PTR they could prevented nearly every problem they've had
I would think the concern for having a PTR is: if "most" all the content is in the PTR then the No-life content creators will do what they "do best"
reduce every facet of the new content down to a tier list and math equation telling every person what to do.
as someone who feels that a meta is smothering and removes player freedom, expression, experimentation.
Stop reading D4 websites?
@@vael_I agree. I sometimes watch or read build guides to see if there is some interaction I’m missing on a similar build I have made but otherwise play what’s fun. I made my own Druid companion build this season since so many of the vampire powers work well with pets. And it was a blast until about T85+. Im sure I could tweak it more but that is about 98% of the play experience for
E. The meta would just say it isn’t viable at all.
@@vael_ in todays culture the likelihood of actual emergent player action is far reduced by the prevalence of content creation. the number of communities I have seen and been involved in where "Hey, how does X work with T" gets a response of "THAT ISN"T META GO FOLLOW THE META"
then these same communities take weeks, months, or sometimes years to even examine something that some meta-tier-list-maker thought was "just bad" when it was a literal example of "Skill issue". all the while that person asking the question being told "That isn't meta, and is just bad". then this process repeats every cycle
at least when the content is released simultaneously there is a chance that more then just the no-life or "this game is my job" players get the same chance to interact with it.
on top of all that when even D3 and WoW have PTRs the majority of feedback they get when they get any is mostly "why are you making this worse" or "thing X needs to be just better" do some people give good feedback sure, but that isn't most of the replies.
D3 response time was often 2 weeks, and sometimes a month even when it was still in active support. D4 was able to respond to the issues within 48 hours. Would a PTR put that 48 hours before the release sure.
D4 is a very different game to D3 where these situations would have only been realized with a max level character, and to have a character of that power in D3 would take a few days, and with PTR buffs a few hours. the progress of D4 to just reach max level is a lot longer and that isn't even gearing, and optimizing.
then there are actually players that complain the progression rate of leveling to be too long in D4 and having an accelerated rate in PTR would incentivize those players to complain even more about the default progression rate (for some players almost any amount of time before "end game" is too long)
so much customization in d4. you can choose between following one of TWO different builds. woowwww
Yep. Pretty sure they specifically said they didn't want to do that again.
Facts
I want sets back.
Great job on pointing out stuff about the game awards. I didn't watch it and had no idea. Keep up the good work,
I personally see two ways they could resolve the time limit issue.
1: give everyone on stage about 2-3mins of time
Or
2: Ask every nominees to write a speech before and record it and see how each of them would take to say.
Perhaps lots will try it out :)
Keep up the good work!
I like the sound of that
That'd make a neat unique
"Best ongoing award" for a game that "will not have any further patches, last patch was released"
KEKW
Fellow SRS Guardian starter here. I'm really enjoying the build.
im liking the zir stuff to quicky level up normal glyphs, unlock the new glyph, and thats it. i got all my glyphs to 15 by the time i hit 100, so i never put the time in to get them all to 21. now i can do that relatively quickly on t1, do a bit of a change up to slot in the new glyph, and move on.
cool little event but for sure not a long term solution, especially with the TERRIBLE exp scaling on the new glyph.
Historic Mail was clutch Rhykker! I got it for my uncle, who's huge into history. I couldn't figure out anything to get him before this. Thank you.
Light No Fire definitely is on my list, Hopefully they will get the time they need to complete it.
Yeah I would agree if poe wasn't such a damn tragedy. Soooo boring.
better choice is grim dawn....very balanced game.
@@SilentDr34m Depends on what you mean by boring. Diablo 3 and 4 were boring, and by contrast, Path of Exile is much more exciting once you feel that progression ball start rolling.
But all in all, there's no point to playing D4 over POE. POE is just better over all
@@vitoraugusto1085 never heard of that. Will have to check it out.
Happy gaming everyone & thanks Rhykker for accompanying me through d3 for all these years 👍👍
Diablo 4 is still in Beta apparently.
no one has space in the chest that is occupied with aspects and equipment.
Season 4 they gonna rework the itemization, I am really curious how they gonna do it
Always a great recap of the news that matters :) I still haven't fully recovered from the glyph thing as a casual.
Blizzard saved me the trouble by NOT making a Mac version after 20+ years, so F them.....
my biggest hype was for the visions of mana announcement trailer that came out of nowhere and i'm always hype for new FF7 rebirth news but i didn't want to spoil myself too much so i didn't pay too much attention to it ^^
It's really sad that the Game of the Year awards is being commercialized.
Why is there even a time constraint for the game awards? The show is all done online so there is no tv show slotted for next time frame.
To many other choices in games I find fun, so D4 is shelved for now.
although i would like to see way more secret puzzle things in the world.for insentive to fully explore the world and everything going on.
I feel like a lot of D4 mishaps could be prevented by the devs just playing their own game. They say they do but it doesn't show.
That's an...odd...sponsor for this channel....but I think I love it.
I'm excited for the new season of d3 though, more than I am for season 3 of d4.
oh shyt someone post when season 30(?) is rolling out!!!
@@user-c4b9bit's in PTR now so it's probably like 2 weeks out?
I've no desire to ever try AoZ even once. I also resent Blizzard for once again locking away the best item in the game behind content that only a small percentage of their players can even complete.
As for the event, the potion is the ONLY thing desirable in it. I will absolutely be hoarding these. I'd rather a handful of useful crafting mats than any cosmetic item.
Event is garbage, you aren't missing anything
Sony fanboys thinking Spiderman would have beat Zelda, much less BG3! LMAO
That letter thing is awesome! What a cool idea!
Surprised you didn't mention the disaster launch and mess of The Day Before in the news, Rhykker.
I'm really surprised he didn't mention No rest for the wicked By moon studios. Looks like a really fun action RPG
For example in helltides entire screen dies from just being there, idle events and so on ;-)
I am all for random reveals. It’s much more fun and excited to get something unexpected.
As for new games announced I'm most excited for Jurassic Park Survival. I'm also curious to see more of Blade. For other things, happy about God of War Ragnarök Valhalla and FFXVI expansions/DLC.
maybe if the game awards didn't spend so much time in game trailers and a bit more time into... you know... the awards? I know, crazy right?
A lot of players won't be lvl 100 yet, I'm 87 and it's touch n go whether I get there before end of s2.
Can you make a guide to fast level a Sorc from 50-100?
I've done everything in D4 except for AoZ, it's at that point where it's too grindy for what it's worth and I'd rather spend that time leveling a different character or playing another game. Happy for those that enjoy massive grind and challenge, but it's not for me. Getting to 100 was boring enough.
I quit D4 for SoD and PvP. So happy I did, it’s been so much fun! Blizzard still taking my money but 100% worth every penny.
another great video Rhykker. You do a phenomenal job at giving such a condensed but easy to digest summary of so many different topics.
Thanks for the kind words!
2030: Diablo 4 is finally finished and playable.
Come now. Probs more like 2025. Took two years to fix D3.
@@andrewc450 But because d4 is better it would take them at least twice the time.
I'm having a great time playing it right now.
When did bluddshed get a job at blizzard? I knew he had a kid and kind of dropped off from streaming so good for him I guess
I stopped playing D4 because no of the builds I like playing are not able to even tier 80 nightmare dungeons. So by focusing on challenges for meta builds I have even more content I'll never be able to do. Maybe in 2-3 more leagues I'll have enough content.
I would like to see them continue the paragon board after level 100
Did you ever play diablo 3?
They monetize TF out of games, why do you think they'd treat them differently?
Is battle pass goıng to cover for the followıng one so we dont have to pay every season for pattle pass
I don't like greater rifts, as end game content, in any capacity. Diablo 3 had proved that to me.
Abattoir needed to last longer, not many players will reach it in order to even test it.
when was this video uploaded ? because 24th been beeten weeks ago.....

About the midwinter elixir: WHAT IF, it was a recipe that you earned and it could be made at the potions npc?
Hit level 100, 20 minutes later.. uninstalled. Back to D2R for me.
Hearing that they confirmed it’s in game rendering is crazy
Rhykker, you are great!
AOZ is a thing for maybe a week and that's it
They are fixing it little by little
But there are many things that need to be fixed
Ways to get glyphs other than just with powder, and also lower the powder cost to buy them.
There needs to be 925 loot drop only and higher chances for ubers
It's latest of late game and you need that loot just to attempt bitting it
Plus, ubers give it a reason to keep beating it.
Got bored again with D4, started to play Diablo2 with Median XL and wow its so much better then D4👍👍👍
PoE Affliction is fun, I enter every Wildwood during campaign feeling excited to find out what is inside.
Waiting for PoE2 after 1500 hours, tired of PoE
@@MrLove-666 nice huge played time, also PoE2 Hype
The fact that the voice actor for Lorath got SNUBBED was just one screw up by The Gaming Awards.....with that said maybe I SHOULD check out Baulders Gate 3 😁😁
It just feels generic adding some half-baked not very interesting mechanic to the game at the end of a season. If they want to test stuff like that, add a test server so people can help them test it. But adding AOZ in the game just feels like a buggy boring mechanic they had no intention of polishing, why even have it it the game?
The game awards were a joke, first 2am for us in Europe, then cyberpunk best "ongoing" game didn't know releasing an expansion suddenly truned it into an ongoing game, then only giving 30 seconds for developers to talk IF you even got that chance and your award wasn't just part of a rapid fire segment. and lastly absolutely no mention of the layoffs happening in the industry.
for pinnacle end game content they need to add mechanics not Op monsters for OP builds
if they would've made the AoZ to give a similar experience to the fight against lilith it would've been better
just add stuff that take 30-40% hp and make a lot of them, so that you actually have to dodge, avoid rushing into a mob and kill everything, make the mobs resist your damage like 5-6 shots of core skill not just 1-2 hits and then it will be fun
Stacking stats like an idiot is not fun is a chore
i dont mind the elixirs lasting beyond the event, the best ones in the game can't be crafted and i dont wanna keep farming helltide to find more
I'll try Diablo IV again in 4 years. Maybe by then they'll have pulled their heads out of their asses.
Seasons in ARPGs is essentially a testing ground.
@@PR2k9 - that's what a test server and quality control is supposed to be for. No, seasons are not supposed to be a testing ground. Your player base should never be looked at as your testers unless they're being specifically told that is their role.
@@DerekScottBland in an ideal world you are right. But every season in ARPG ends up being essentially a testing ground.
The Game Awards this year were less about awarding the devs the respect and honor they deserve and more about being a giant advert for upcoming games.. 😒
