    Yes, everyone makes mistakes.
But when you’re planning an outdoor kitchen… Every mistake can cause you a serious headache!
Therefore, we’ve compiled the top five outdoor kitchen mistakes that homeowners make.
Because you can’t avoid these mistakes if you aren’t aware of them!
    So, what’s number one?
    Not planning enough counter space.
When creating your outdoor kitchen plans… It’s tempting to pack in as many appliances as possible.
However, having adequate counter space is a huge part of the convenience of an outdoor kitchen.
If you don’t have anywhere to serve and prep food… You’re going to be annoyed by the prospect of cooking outdoors!
And that’s the last thing you want.
The next mistake homeowners make is choosing the incorrect grill for their needs.
Considering the grill will be the crowning jewel of your outdoor kitchen…
This mistake could be seriously painful!
Remember that this grill is going to be a permanent fixture of your grill island.
Therefore… You want to select an option that’s designed to last.
If you don’t choose a high quality, built in grill… You’re going to be in for a serious headache when repairs and replacements have to be made.
But if you just selected the correct grill for your outdoor kitchen plans…
None of it is a concern at all!

Great video. Only thing that nagged me is the comment about time spent doing it yourself is time that could be BETTER spent? Like spending time with your family? I found this very judgemental and patronizing. Saying that the time could be spent otherwise would have sufficed. Otherwise, as I said, great video.

@@jdiggsRTAOUTDOOR Hi Jordan. I agree building an outdoor kitchen is a huge DIY project but I find there’s so much gratification in it 🙂. I’ve looked at other videos and I got to thinking about what kind of outdoor appliances are suitable for northern climates (snow, freezing temperatures…). Have you covered this topic?

@martincote6499 Good morning. We have partnered with Coyote Outdoor Living for our outdoor kitchen appliances, and we have many customers in the northeast and northern parts of the United States. Our outdoor kitchen islands are built to withstand harsh winters and the freeze thaw climate, and we have made videos and shorts on this topic. When it comes to appliances, we always recommend going with 304 stainless steel and investing in appliance covers to add extra protection when appliances are not being used because they are an investment.

"You should really avoid going completely DIY because, let's be honest, you'll just mess it all up. Fortunately, our company sells a kit so that you can *feel* like you did all the work yourself."
