- Luke Wilkins of the Motorcycle Diaries does his first of many reviews on one of our demonstrator motorcycles. This week we lent him the Ducati Hypermotard 796 and let him give it a blast. Take a look at what he thought and how the italian machine performed.

I've watched six YT reviews on this bike today...and this is the only one worth watching...Thanks!
Just bought this bike yesterday. The grin factor and the fact this thing is nimble and easily controlled were the main reasons I pulled the trigger on the hyper 796. Lovely bike that is incredibly fun to ride. Great review as well!
Great review! you actually went over everything I wanted to know. Thank you!!
What a fantastic review,. More please!!
Really good review, thank you for your honest opinion. Im going to look at one today !!!!!!
Great review, good to see all the small details in a review.. So many reviewers just gloss everything over..
its a lot of fun
@MrThewaffen
The price in the UK is £7795 but in Australia I would recommend approaching the Ducati dealer network or importer. As for importing from USA, that would be a harder route than inquiring in the country of use. We do not know the regulations regards exporting/importing from the USA to Australia.
@PHMotorcycles Thanks for the reply, and keep up the good work.
Great review (as usual).
When it comes to "fun factor" and city riding, would you choose the Hyper 796 or the Monster 796?
Mate I am living in the USA atm and recently checked the price here on the hypermotard a month or so back. Before tax you are looking at a fraction over $10,000USD and I believe the tax I believe is 6.25% in Texas for example. Now I checked the price of the same bike in Australia and it was somewhere around $17,500 if memory serves me correctly. So bottom line is if you buy that bike in Australia you are going to get bent over prison style. Importing is likely to be actually worth considering.
im annoyed they stoped making this model, iwas going to get it next year as my first big bike but now it is a 110 hp bike but it does look like a lot of fun.
Neil Patrick Harris. Great reviews :)
@nmlc525 Yes I know that feeling, thats what happened to me last July. Both bones broken and 8 months rehabilitation..... lol
I cant decide witch bike looks better the monster 796 or the hyper.... over all which one do you guys think is better?
@pjdaprinz Ohhhhh you know, I really liked the mutate, but something about the monster that stirs my loins!!
The motard defo has a massive fun and practicality level, whole monster prob not as nimble....tricky one....
Test ride em both!! ;-)
Holy shit this video is old!...😆
Seeing his stance, he's never been on a supermoto
Whats your height? Cheers
What height are you ? I'm 6'2 and wondering if the seat height is too small ?
It is
I am 5, 8", will i be able to touch my feet on the ground sitting on this?
No
it dont sounded like the movies..
Love the bike, hate the piddly gas tank.
will more expert riders just be bored?
Side impacts are bad for everyone, even cars. And if you don't want your legs out for the world to mince, a scooter wouldn't be a bad idea.
fancy mincing you leg in a side impact with a car? buy a bike
Really dude? Fancy not being at risk for anything? Stay inside your basement. #Fucktard.
