- I’m a Canadian who likes to play drums. What you hear is one unedited take with no sample replacement or funky magic besides mixing and mastering. Audio and video are from the same playthrough, warts and all. Hope you like it. Leave some song suggestions for me in the comments. Thanks for watching!
After so many years and so many lineup changes, Norma Jean still smacks so hard and I'm loving this new album to bits. This one's probably my favourite off of All Hail so far. A little happier with the snare tuning this time around; that's an art that I'm still pretty terrible at.
Recording, mixing, and mastering by Undertone Studios.

Dude this is all on single kick? Holy crap, this was already solid as hell but I noticed halfway through during some of the fast fills and now I am in awe, well fkin done! Great song choice too!
Thanks a lot! I took a few "creative liberties" with filling in some gaps with the floor tom, and maybe doing a couple fills as RLK triplets instead of RLKK rolls, but I'm glad it turned out okay. Maybe someday I'll get a double pedal, but I think I'd rather be slightly above average with one than mediocre with two, haha.
Awesome sound and playing man! 🤘 more norna jean covers bro ;)
Thanks a lot! I've got more on the backburner I'd love to do for sure
Nicely done dude!
Thanks a lot! Fellow Underoath fan I see.
@@ScottDincorn You know it!
Yo this is legit, fantastic work🤙
Thanks so much! I want to do so many more Norma Jean covers. Any suggestions?
@@ScottDincorn it’s a bonus track but kill more presidents by Norma Jean is killer. And I don’t know if anyone even touching that song.
Awesome buddy
\m/
Great playing bro 👌
Thanks a lot!
This deserved more views man. Firstly this is a hard song to learn with so much going on in drums which is not 4 by 4 lol.Secondly, you did it real-time without post-editing and all. I will probably be watching this video 100 times now to learn it..doesnt help that i have just started drums and have no skills. ;) keep it up man
Hey, thanks a lot! I took a few creative liberties with it but it should be close enough to get the idea. Good luck with the drums! They're a wonderful and inconvenient instrument, haha.
nice cover, dude!! sending some love from Ottawa
Thanks a lot!
Happy to see a cover of this! Great work!
Thanks a lot!
Great performance bro - you nailed it.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
i love your passion, mate! Great energy. Finally someone, who doesnt look so bored, lol.
Thanks so much! It's probably not the most efficient way to play but it works for me, haha.
@@ScottDincorn i dont care. even that you can make mistakes, i love it more, than just everything perfect. i love norma jean cause all mistakes in mix and production, cause it sounds more emotional, real and HUMAN-like. i hate, when everything just perfect :))
Hell yeah man. You'll probably end up playing for them :p
They go through enough drummers that anything is possible, haha. Thanks for watching!
Do you hear your own drumming in headphones?
I just have the track with a click put over it in my ears. The headphones isolate quite well, but there's still plenty of bleed-through, so I'm hearing my drums whether I want to or not haha.
'A little happier with the snare tuning this time around..' Are you referring to the band or your setup ?
My setup! I had recorded the last two covers before this one just a couple days after getting the snare and didn't quite have it where I wanted it yet. I'm pretty awful at tuning in general so it's a work in progress.
@@ScottDincorn ah ok. I mean, seems like you killed it in this cover so there's that lol. Here's another one for ya: What's your fav Norma Jean song drum - wise
@@bdboolado That's hard. So many to choose from. If I had to pick one it'd be Death is a Living Partner. If I ever get a double bass pedal that cover's going on the list for sure. Do you have a favourite album by them?
Amazing dude! You definitely nailed it!
Thanks a lot!
