      @@stocksfarming7530 This is just a political statement. If you come to Maharashtra you’ll hear people say the opposite, i.e. Konkani is a dialect of Marathi. However neither of the views is correct, linguistically. Marathi and Konkani are both just slightly different dialects of one and the same language. They originated from some form of Maharashtri Prakrit, an old tongue.

If you need Konkani in Roman script you may watch videos of Fr. Pratap Naik. He teaches very well. He also is a member of an Institute name Thomas Stephens Konkanni Kendr in Porvorim, Goa. Hi Saurabh. I found some words in Konkani to be very similar to Vietnamese! Words used in colloquial parlance such as 'An' (for father, in certain Konkani dialects) and 'Bai'. These two words correspond to the Vietnamese Ông and Bà.
    I also want to make the case for a hypothesis: Is there a possibility that the sounds ङ and ञ are of Austro-Asiatic origin? I'm making the case because Vedic Sanskrit did not make extensive use of the palate compared to Dravidian and Austro-Asiatic languages.
    What is the extent of the Austro-Asiatic substratum in Konkani? Do you know of any more Austro-Asiatic origin words in Konkani? Do you agree with my hypothesis?

      @karlpacchio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SaurabhKaisare Thanks Saurabh. Just to add further clarity to my comment: I'm mentioning Vedic Sanskrit because Konkani relies more heavily on it vis-a-vis Classical Sanskrit.
      Do let me know if you can share any valuable information on the word etymology I mentioned earlier 🙂 I wish Konkani etymology was available just with a Google search like it is for English. But that's an area that needs some study!

    Hi Saurabh! You're doing an amazing job with the videos! I have watched many of them! I have a suggestion to make: When you write the roman transliterations of Konkani, I would suggest you to USE DIACRITICS as it will simplify the idea of remembering how the words are pronounced (in response to 0:39)
    Cheers,
    Aaron

    • @SaurabhKaisare
      @SaurabhKaisare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are lot many things you can do to improve your konkani. You can start reading newspapers. Bhangar Bhui is one of them. In goa you can find many book stalls. Start reading books. You can watch konkani videos on TH-cam, other than that of mine like comedy videos and so on.

    If you do a video series "Learn Konkani through Kannada" it is welcome. Konkani uses some kannada words or words of kannada in little difference like Vayasu, Avva, etc

    • @SaurabhKaisare
      @SaurabhKaisare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a ton for the suggestions. Yeah that's true. Some words in konkani are from kannada.
      Starting the whole video series would be difficult because I myself don't know much of kannada. I understand and can speak a bit of kannada though.

    • @SaurabhKaisare
      @SaurabhKaisare  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Konkani is not related to kannada anyways. However, konkani spoken in Karnataka uses many kannada words.

    Hey saurabh!!! I would like to know if the konkani spoken by Shenoys and kammaths are the same. Also is this how Shenoys speak konkani??

    • @SaurabhKaisare
      @SaurabhKaisare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not very sure about how Shenoys and Kammaths speak as in the dialect. What I know for sure is, Kammath`s are from mangalore, so they definitely have a different dialect, having more Kannada words. I suppose even the Shenoy`s speak similar to the Kammath`s. Some Shenoy`s are also from Goa, who speak the way I teach.
      Kamat (without adding `H`at the end) are from Goa or Maharashtra, who will speak almost the same as I do, in the videos. But, since all are Konkani`s, everyone understands what we speak. I never found difficulty understanding what kammath`s speak.

      Tumgel or Amgel kivha TUMGELE OR AMGELE Karwari Kokni madhe boltat. Even in Mangalorean bahutek.
      Karwari madhe sure boltat. South Goa madhe kadachit border javal bolat astil, karan south goa border hun Karawar khup javal ahe.
