- Join us on our Iceland Air experience as we give you an insider's guide to their lounge and flight! Get a glimpse into the luxurious Icelandair Saga Lounge and find out what to expect in Saga Premium Business Class. If you're planning a trip with Icelandair, this review will give you all the information you need to have the best flying experience.
Our vacation is sadly coming to an end and we are heading back home to the good old United States of America. But first, there is a lounge and a flight on a new airline for us and we are taking you along!
This is our first time to fly on Iceland Air and our first visit to the Saga Lounge (Iceland Air's flagship lounge).
We have been to many lounges. Some might even say we are lounge experts LOL! The Saga Lounge in Keflavik Airport is open every day from 5am until 5 pm. The lounge offers a stunning view of the Rekjanes peninsula and Flaxafloi Bay. You can even see all the way to Snaefellsjokull glacier on a clear day!
The lounge design is all Iceland! I loved the boulders used as decor along with the other natural touches throughout.
We enjoyed delicious Iceland inspired food and drink offerings. Everything was fresh and very tasty! I also really enjoyed the view as we snacked.
This lounge is a haven in a very busy airport. The lounge was not crowded and I'm sure that added to our enjoyment!
One other thing I really liked about the lounge was the thought put into things for families with small children. There was a play area with several things for the children to do including "horses" to ride! The restrooms were also well thought out with places to change kiddos.
The restrooms and shower rooms were all clean and well stocked and even had a touch of Iceland in them!
We had a wonderful time at this lounge and I look forward to being able to visit again some day!
On to the flight review! We are flying from Reykjavik to Chicago in Iceland Air's Premium Cabin, Saga Class. Our flight is on a 737 Max 8 with 16 seats in the premium cabin and 144 seats in economy. Our ticket entitled us to priority check-in and boarding, a bigger seat, access to the Saga Lounge and an amenity kit.
We were also served a meal onboard and could have many different things to drink during the flight. We started with champaign because, you should always have champaign to start a flight!
Shortly after departure we able to order our meal and were served a snack of the yummiest crackers. Our meals were also very good on this flight!
We were also given a snack of a Chocolate Miracles Volcano! It was also super yummy! This treat pays tribute to Iceland's recent volcanic eruptions, in the most delicious way! It was also recently awarded "The Best Onboard Snack" award.
We had a smooth trip to Chicago and would highly recommended Iceland Air for this shorter than usual international flight. I don't think I would have liked them for a longer flight however, because the seats don't lay flat or really even recline that much. If you were wanting to sleep, this is not the seat for you.

We save us our credit card points for business class seats and we enjoy that aspect of the travel experience. Whew! Good thing you're not late in the flight despite that SSSS on your boarding pass. How come that was put on the boarding pass? And I hope the lady who had an emergency situation was ok. Anyway, I see that the lounge was awesome! And the airplane food seemed sumptuous! 🥰

I've been following your trip very closely. I'm thirty days out for my final payment for the NCL prima. I was wondering if you guys recommend booking your own flights or sticking to the NCL "free airfare"? Right now I'm on the fence with it.
