This trek took me 11 days and has been one of the most memorable journeys in my travels.
For anyone interested in my detailed trek here is the breakdown:

Day 7 Reached basecamp and back to the Pyramid
Day 8 to 11 I followed the same route back to Lukla.

Very nice work... did the trip in October 2016 as a 68 year old... you've captured the whole experience very well, EXCEPT.... the two incessant sounds. The welcome sound of Yak bells coming downhill toward you so you can have a rest for a few minutes, and the damned helicopters going up and down the valley to rescue optimistic hopefuls who underestimate the preparation and effort necessary. It's not cheap to be ferried out! Glad I did it-- bucket list stuff, now not available cos of Covid and my rapid deterioration in fitness! Great work.

I did heli flight from Kathmandu to kalapathar in April 2018 with my daughter and then did trek to EBC in November 2018 and fulfilled a boyhood dream of seeing Everest 🇳🇵

@@ivanleone82 I did heli flight in spring to base camp and we flew over the summiteers in their tents which was quite exciting to see but doing the trek we were told oct/nov was better as less crowded on the trail,we had -20c overnight and about zero during the day,stay safe

hi! if you don't mind, i just want to ask how much is the total cost going up in EBC. i mean the total in everything like airfare,fees, food, hotels, etc. thabk you so much! climbing atleast in EBC is my wildest dream and to see mt. everest would be one of my goal
@@Bliss_1987 It really depends, if you search online you will see many tours costing many thousands of Dollars. Your best bet is to fly to Kathmandu and plan everything once in Nepal, this will be much much cheaper. @@onoyoudont As I mentioned earlier, I know I'll never manage to get there.
It's an impossible task, given my health issues, distance and other factors so unfortunately, I'll never be able to say "I did it".
However, seeing videos like this is a joy, watching others achieve what I can't.

Man how far is the place @ 40:51 from basecamp point where people click pics. I went to ebc back in 2018, but didn't encounter that. Is that even further to ebc point
It’s actually not on the path. It’s at a lower point close to ebc.
That's maybe 1/2 hour from Gorak Shep on the way to Everest Base Camp. You have to climb down from the path onto the glacier to see it.

QUESTION: Beautiful video! I'm doing the trek in 2024 and in the middle of research. Can you please share your approach for daily water (e.g. sources, filtering, amount). Thanks!
Try to be as light as possible. I brought a sawyer mini water filter and was able to use it daily on every stop without the need to carry lots of water everyday.

The trip was March of 2018. The weather was perfect as it wasn’t too cold. I highly recommend it, hope you get to do it soon. The glacier part most people don’t visit it so make sure you check it out is close to the actual base camp.

Glad you liked it. If you have a medium physic you should be able to do it. I exercise regularly, never done a marathon and was able to do it no problem.
That was a GREAT video, so clear and it was relaxing to watch. When staying in Kathmandu, does the drinking water need to be treated, do they provide bottled water or!!!
Thanks so much, is such a magical trek, Most hotels do provide you with bottled water, but what I did is I brought my own portable water filter and this is what I used in the entire trek.

Why did you go both up and down the same Tengpoche route, when there is a much better more scenic and awesome trail via Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche?

This was in March 2018
Why did you go both up and down via Tengpoche, when there is a much more interesting and impressive trail on the opposite side of the valley going Namche - Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche? Tremendous views across the valley, lots of wildlife and almost no trekkers. Takes the same amount of time, good lodges in Phortse. Tengpoche can be visited on the way down.
I only had a short time to do the trek so took kind of the fastest route roundtrip, definitely want to come back with more time. Thanks for sharing.
@@Wonderliv Some kind of misunderstanding here, Phortse route takes exactly the same number of days as the standard route. Just that Tengboche night, in you case Pangpoche, would be replaced by Phortse. Or you could go all the way to Pangpoche also like you did, but using the High Scenic Trail. Next time... Several people have blamed time concerns when asked about this, I suspect they just not were even aware of the more interesting Phortse variation but do not want to admit it.

How about visiting in September or October? Also can you mention about best of the stays in between ? Lodge names . At initial level of trek n while descending back , is it advisable to do overnight camping ?
You fill find plenty of stays along the way. From very basic ones to more luxurious ones. Check the weather as I’m not sure how cold it will be in sept/oct.
Is it easy to get lost along the way or is the trek easy to follow ? I want to go solo with no Porter/guide,

@@Wonderliv Thank you for the reply. The color was fantastic. I was trying to figure it out because some of the footage had an action camera like fisheye on the edges. I'm going back in spring for the first time since I did a bunch of climbing trips 20 years ago. Back then it was film only. Good to know a cell phone will do that well. I was debating a Hero 8 or other option with a zoom lens but if a cell can do everything you accomplished the I'm set. As far as equipment goes anyway. You're by far a better cinematographer than I.

Hope you get to visit, if you do all the booking by yourself its not as expensive as it looks. Most people just buy a very expensive package online, if you can find a cheap ticket to Kathmandu, once you arrive there you can arrange the hike for a much lower price than you will get by paying an agency ;)
