Kakko has a make-or-break year in NY. Kakko has lacked in confidence, and you see that clear as day when he scores a goal, it more looks like he is relieved, rather than happy or excited. I hope Kakko can have a good year, but even I am skeptical at this point. Kakko would probably do the best in a rebuilding squad with no pressure where he can get a 1st line 1PP role immediately.
Bread and Kakko will "NEVER" be on the same line. Drury tried that route a few years ago and Bread flat out refused to play on the same line as Kakko. Now, I agree with those two lines but it just will never happen because Kakko and Bread don't wanna play on the same line together.
Hahaha no way I didn’t know Bread refused to play with him. I was just thinking Laffy is our best 5v5 right winger so he can make plays with Mika and Krieder and then we would give Kakko one last chance to start the year and if not then throw Smith or Chytil in the top 6 until the deadline
@@simongadeloff5623 Bread said publicly he wanted to have Colin Blackwell on his line over Kakko. Which personally, at least to me. Makes zero sense on Bread's part. That lead to them kind of disliking each other and they haven't been paired on the same line since that statement went public a few years ago. If they were paired together since that statement, i would've just waved it off as a BS report but the fact is they haven't been paired since bread said that, so there must be some truth in it.
You hit the nail on the head. Kakko on that line will explode, he needs great line mates and the sky is the limit what he could do on that line. But the Rangers won’t do that for sure.
@@georgecampbell1453 I agree, Bread and Kakko on the wings together would be so good since they have similar playing styles. However, that was the excuse Bread used publicly as to why they shouldn't be paired together, which to me is so dumb. Yes, they've got a similar play style with one key difference, Kakko is shoot first and Bread is pass first. Those two having the same style would have great chemistry with Vinny as the center that line it could be unstoppable but Bread wants nothing to do with it.
If they want Kakko to be effective they need to do things to play to his strengths. He’s a defensive minded forward, he should be getting at least some PK time & playing against the opposing top lines. Also think putting him on a line with Trocheck & Kreider would be better than the previous attempts of putting him with Kreider & Zibanejad it just doesn’t work
His offensive side is much better in the long term tho. He's a big kid. His skating needs work. He was forced by N Y to be responsible because of youth and rank and skating. If your a third line guy, your plus minus has to fairly level because otherwise your benched. And young guys always get a heavy dose of two way hockey by coaches because offense is more creative and instinctive. Still I see where your going with your comments.🏒🍸take care!
Kakko’s strength is along the boards, he wants to hang onto pucks & try to work the puck towards the front of the net. Why not ? Surround him with some like minded forwards. Get in the corners, hustle for pucks, bump, grind. I feel like it’s a management & philosophy problem with Rangers. Not a coach or personnel problem. IMO.
I think Kakko has star potential but he'll never achieve that while on the Rangers. Ever since Kakko and Bread had that beef for a little bit a few years ago, that derailed any chance of him having success on the Rangers. If Rangers fans have noticed, Kakko and Bread "Never" play on the same line cause they just straight up don't like each other but tolerate one another. It went as far as Bread refusing to play on the same line as Kakko and wanted to play with Colin Blackwell on his line over Kakko.
@@negtype13 Sure, it happened about three years ago I believe. Drury wanted to pair Kakko and Bread for the upcoming season. Bread flat out refused and his reason was that they've got similar hockey styles and wouldn't pair well together and requested to be paired with Colin Blackwell. Since then they haven't even tried to pair those two together. I didn't think much about the report when it first dropped but, I have to believe there has to be some truth to it cause since that, those two have never been paired together, even on the PP.
If he stay healthy, he does have a chance. Othmann can play either side. Flil coukd actually move to wing in the first. If he can stay healthy. Sensing a theme here? Rielly can play first or third. And kill peno's . If Gabe is ready, and he cud be, he will get a look. Rookies tend to hit the wall later in the year tho . So Kappo is an option and no , you dont guve him up on him for nothing. We already jettisoned Vatali Kracsov remember? Hes still very very very young 🍸🏒🇬🇧
Kaako is a bust because of where he was drafted. He needs to be traded for his sake cause I don't think he will ever be anything other then ok 3rd liner on NYR. I don't get when people ask for him to be on the first line, he has been all over the lineup and looked more or less good on 3rd line. Just trade him at this point!
I think a line like Laffy - Mika - Kakko could help Kakko produce more. But Kreider - Mika combo doesn't do well for Rw forwards in general
I'm gonna have hope Laffy turned it on this year betting Kaako hits boost this season
Not in NY he won't, he lacks the confidence to be a play driver. (I will gladly eat these words if he has a great season).

I think Kaako could do well for a small market team like the Blue Jackets or Utah. He just doesn't look comfortable in New York.
Dang it. I was going to say that. You beat me to it. 🙂
I think this year the best move is
Krieder - Zibanejad - Laffy
Panarin - Trochek - Kakko

I think best case he has similar point production to guys like Ehlers and Buchnevich worst case idk how bad

We need top 6 kakko next season
Kakko is m y favorite player I want him to get a point per game
I'm a fan of Kakko as well and wish him nothing but success with his NHL career.

Started with terrible development, thankfully it’s gotten better in recent years, it wasn’t too late for Laffy but might be for Kakko

NYR need to acquire another quality player from Finland. Communication seems to be the problem here.

Kakko with another team may get 50+ points but not with the Rangers he may even get 20 goals this season.
Kakko has been a total flop for a no. one pick. He has not improved over the years, it time to get rid of him.
Bust belongs in the AHL
